Am I right in thinking they have put sand on the shingle at Icmeler and turned it into a sandy beach??? Anyone seen it? Im sure I read it somewhere, or did I dream it???? :)

Type in Icmeler pictures in your search box and lots of pictures come up, including ones of the beach last year all covered in sand.

When I was in Icmeler in March they had a delivery of this grey looking stuff that they proceeded to rake over the excisting sand.
It looked more like ash from a volcanic eruption but I didnt see the finished look.
Maybe Icmeler is starting a new look and trend.

Travel Tips for Icmeler

BOAT TRIP = TURQUOISE COAST BREEZES BLISS....

by virtuallady

I HIGHLY RECCOMEND A TRIP ON THE FINDING NEMO BOAT MARMARIS, ICMELER and TURUNC in TURKEY! This boat having been recommended to us too!
We couldn’t have asked for a nicer trip and couple who ran the boat = Nemo - captain and his lovely wife Linda. From start to finish of the trip we were well looked after from initial pick as strangers to sad departure as friends = really the trip was so good we did it TWICE! My husband and I cannot fault the boat = it was lovely and safe = always a concern in foreign parts!!! My husband who is a keen fisherman was glad to get his hands on the good quality rod provided and the bait to get fishing in the sun = I myself stayed in the shade reclining on the comfortable cushions. Drinks and a wide variety at that we served to us = nice and cold which makes a change. My husband had lots of instructions as to the local fish and techniques and managed to land several after some tussles and we caught enough for captain Nemo to cook then for us for lunch as well!!! WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR? He caught some tasty brown colored ones = cant remember the names and a lovely sharped toothed Red Snapper which we took photos of so he could show off to his mates at home! After fishing we cruised to a most BEAUTIFUL BAY WHERE CAPTAIN MADE SURE WE WERE THE ONLY BOAT! And after some swimming in the clear Turquoise waters the MOST FANTASTIC MEAL WE'VE EVER EATEN IN TURKEY AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD = was served to us! What a treat! A Gourmet lunch in perfect surroundings with the MOST DELICIOUS TURKISH WINE = total bliss! AND BETTER STILL NO WASHING UP!
Then we cruised around some more to catch some rays this time = with all the highlights of the surrounding area being pointed out to us for pictures and information! Time had flown so quickly then it was time to head back to the Jetty sadly the best day of our holiday was over! SO IF YOU WANT A DAY TO REMEMBER FOREVER... I suggest you contact THE FINDING NEMO BOAT Their telephone number is 009 05365537365 or email findingnemoboat@yahoo.com
As Linda is English its great and her hubby speaks excellent English too, always a plus!
For no hassle, AMAZING FOOD, chilled drinks, stunning scenery, good fun fishing, relaxing comfortable boat shade and sun WITHOUT ALL THE LOUD MUSIC, GERMANS AND RUSSIANS AND THE "HERE WE GO CROWD" THIS IS THE BOAT FOR YOU! I thought the price was very VERY reasonable for the boat PRIVATE for us both, including fishing license, food etc.
A MUST DO WHEN IN TURKEY!!!!!!!!! BOOK AHEAD AS THIS IS A POPULAR BOAT = WE KNOW WHY!!!!!!!! THE HOSPITALITY AND FRIENDLYNESS! AND THE food!!!!!!!!

Leg of Lamb

by redrhino12 about Antik Bar and Restaurent

This is a nice friendly bar-restaurent serving good food and drinks at competetive prices.
It also has a large TV screen, free pool table and PS2 facilities to keep the children occupied.
This restaurent also has the added luxury of a decent sized swimming pool were customers of this bar can take advantage of all poolside activities and also be served with drinks snacks etc on their sunbed.

THIS RESTAURENT WAS DEMOLISHED IN FEBUARY 2010 Leg of Lamb is a must when eating in this restaurent,24 hours notice needs to be given to the staff when ordering but the wait to see that meat just dropping of the bone and the meat melting in your mouth is worthwhile.

Sunset at Gypsy Beach

by redrhino12

Setting off at about 10-30am in the morning,a small group of about 10 of us set off for a pleasant day out to Gypsy Beach not far from Hisaronu.

We travelled along the Datca road, turning off at the Hisaronu sign and threaded our way along the narrow lanes until we arrived at Gypsy Beach.
We arrived at this lovely tranquil beach with beautifull views of the surrounding mountains, and in the far disance we could see the Greek island of Symi.

Our base on the beach was a little restaurent serving the Cub Rena a small holiday complex made up of small wooden chalets.
We had the use of the Club Rena pool and surrounding scatter cushions,as well as the sunbeds and sunshades on the beach.

The day was layed back, everyone enjoying the sun and gentle breeze off the sea.

Lunch was taken at the restaurent, and Ann and myselfe chose chicken on a skewer with pasta and chips with a side salad and of course this was all washed down with a pint of ice cold Efes.
The meal and drinks were all extra to the cost of the trip.

We decided before we all left this idylic place that we would experience the "Sun Setting" behind the distant mountains that Chelsea Boy had told us so much about.

At about 6-50pm we all posistioned ourselves in a place were we thought each of us could get a good picture.

As the sun began to set, everything seemed to go calm, there was hardly any sound except for the waves gently lapping the seashore.

For a short moment everything seemed to standstill, the sky went red,the sea also gave the impression of being "On Fire"
Everyone looked at each other, each wanting this sight never to end.
Who had got the best picture?,
what we all did agree on was that we had all experienced a most beautifull scene.

Boarding our small bus we headed back to Icmeler and within 30mins we were being dropped of at the ICR office.
A remarkable day out and one to remember and all this for just £6 each.
