Drink prices in Marmaris?

by martizhen

Hi, we're planning a 3 week holiday to Marmaris and we're wondering if anyone could tell us what the drink prices there are like? Cocktails, shots, vodka/red bull and local spirits...this good kinda stuff! We have heard mixed reports on this before with some people saying pretty much the same as UK/Ireland prices and some saying you can get cocktails for between 5-7 lira? Any info with prices really welcome! Thanks

Depends if they use local spirits which are less refined let's say but look at 10-15Ytl as average, but as a (big)shot of whiskey costs 8-10 normally then you are looking at more for bigger cocktails.

Thanks for the info! Prices seem a bit steep? Anyway, might still check Marmaris out!

very much depends on where you go to drink

Yeah, guess so. Just thought prices would be a hell of a lot cheaper compared to ireland!

hi friend,
You will come to Turkey and you are thinking the prices now.Hııh? Please relax. The prices are very economic. You can get drunk all nights. But i suggest you to drink turkish rakı.You can shut down with only two dubles:) enjoy dreaming of turkey..

i have been to marmaris many times and the prices are extremely cheap. Buying drink out of the supermarkets is cheaper than it is on a night out. If you are going out for adrink i reccomend the beach front because it is a better atmosphere and a bit cheaper.

Hope that helps...

Travel Tips for Marmaris

by whitecliff62

The postal service in Turkey is very bad, the last time i sent postcards from Marmaris they actually took 6 weeks to deliver. Agood tip here is to pack a few airmail envolopes in your suitcase, just buy the postcards and put them in the envolope, they will then be delivered in days instead of weeks

scuba diving

by pompeymark

hi there,i spent 3 weeks in turkey last year over 2 holidays..and i spent most of my time scuba diving with a very good dive school called barakuda brothers, whose has a dolmus pick up customers from there hotels etc..an then drops them back after the day,the boat leaves icmeler at about 10am..there are many 1st timer divers that go..they all recieve 2 shallow dives in small groups of 3/4..all with instructors..and an oppertunity to feed the fish and have your picture taken feeding fish..its amazing..you have a lesson going out to 1st dive site,so you know the basic, like breathing, hand signals etc..all this as well as a lunch included..its a great day with lots of time to snorkal to..i think it worked out to be about £20 a day which i think is excellent..you must give it a go..you will not regret trying it............http://barakudabrothers.com/main.php....take a look...you can book this trip with barakuda brothers to at local travel reps in the street..maybe cheaper..

A seaside town.

"An overnight visit only - to board a gulet."

Travelled to Selcuk by minibus (dolmus) and from there on to Marmaris by coach.

Arrived in the early evening. The coach came down out of the hills to sea level. The sun set over the harbour was beautiful to see.

Had a good Turkish dinner in town: A small mezze, stuffed green peppers with Adana kebap and a salad.

An early morning walk along the seashore was blazing hot, so I crossed over and walked on the other side of the street in the shade. Discovered a real coffee shop! In Turkey they serve either the thick Turkish coffee or instant coffee only. Only in the tourist areas can one get a good espresso or filter coffee. It is expensive, but in the morning well worth the cost for me.

If you visit the open market place the salesmen are will say "Hello, Where are you from?" in at attempt to get you into the store. After a while I got tired of being talked at and answered in Hebrew rather than English. A few recognized the language but couldn't converse in it other than to say "Shalom". They tried English, German, Italian, Spanish and every other language they could, but I pretended ignorance and was free to browse without being pressured

Morning over the harbour from my hotel window.

The view of castle up on the hill from the wharf.
