Take care with such a young person. I am a BSAC advanced diving instructor and live in Marmaris. I would not teach anyone under the age of 14, but maybe thats just me. Body damage occurs most often in the first 10 meters of any dive as this is the only time the pressure doubles on your self. I know that kids can be safe with some operations out here, I say again take care and if what is offered sound bad, dont do it.
Have a good time.

10 Year Olds scuba diving are fine, they have suites and equipment for people of all ages. The only peoblem is, unless you pay alot of money and book through your rep, you won't get any training. What happens is, you get a half hour breifing on the boat then 2 people go out per qualified diver. The boats have alot of trained people aboard though, but without trying it in shallow water or a swimming pool, a 10 year old may be a little put off.

However, it is really safe. Your first dive, they take you about 7 meters down and you hold on to a rock whilst you feed the fish and get photos taken under the water. Second dive, 2 people go out with an instructor for a swim, one on each hand. It's really great you get to see so many fish plus the water is about 26*C in August.

We went with a dutch crew and booked with a man called Leo who had a hut by the beach. You can get it very cheap, about £8 per person including lunch. Hope you enjoy it.

If you have anymore questions please ask, I have photos of it all at:

Travel Tips for Marmaris

Blue Trip

by traveloturc

The traditional ‘Blue Journey or trip ’ was first realized as a culture trip on the sea by a group of turkish intellectuals in the 1960’s. They named it “Blue Journey”. During those trips, stopping at small bays on the Aegean and the Mediterranean coasts, they used to do all the work on the boat themselves, such as cooking, cleaning in turn and naming this cooperation “imece” traditionally (work and share together). They disembarked often in order to see the ancient ruins and remains. They had long talks and discussions on history, mythology, poetry, painting etc. Coincidantly one of those intellectual was my teacher at the college.I also had the chance to do this journey more than 10 times...
With the development of tourism in the region, the blue journey of the intellectuals became popular. They started to organize one-day, seven day or longer trips.
You can choose the way of Gokova Bay or around Marmaris and Fethiye .A longer one includes Kekova
The most popular blue journey tours from Marmaris are as follows:
Marmaris-Bodrum-Marmaris (8 or 14 days)
Marmaris-Bodrum (8 days)
Marmaris-Knidos-Marmaris (8 days)
Marmaris-Fethiye-Marmaris (8 days)

Marmaris amphitheatre - for history or concert

by WanderingFinn

When in Marmaris, it is worth visiting the impressive remains of Amos which are within easy reach from practically anywhere in Marmaris town and the major beach resorts.

Dating back to hellenistic times, the ruins include a hillside amphitheatre, a temple and statue pedestals.

Monthly Marmaris Amphitheater Programme is available online in the summer months. Each summer Marmaris schedules many events. The amphitheatre in Armutalan has many concerts well worth seeing.

"Marmaris"

We were abit cautious of going on holiday to Turkey, as we'd had mixed reactions from friends who have visited before. We were pleasantly surprise, it is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly and helpful
