More about Candan
Just returned from the club candan, we had a brilliant holiday,it is central but at the same time set back from the noise, 15mins walk to the front and 20mins walk to the shopping bazzar, good restaurants a five minute walk, the hotel itself was very good, although you do not get a toaster the breville does lovely toast, just dont butter the bread, the pool is very good and the slides were great, staff very friendly and helpful, meals were good also,I cant comment on the entertainment ,I was never there. The lazy day boat cruise was excellent taking in the islands of marmaris, diving off the boat at stops etc,I paid £5 and the children went free,I booked this at the travel place around the corner, you get picked up at the hotel.None of us wanted to come home and i'm sure I will be returning next year!, there is a photographer on site, he takes excellent photos, very proffesional,he is very nice. There are lots of supermarkets close and these are reasonable,as for the weather it was very hot for the beginning of october,we had a week where it was up in the 80's.A Safety deposit box cost £10 for the week.Thankyou club candan for a really enjoyable holiday,my first to turkey and definately won't be the last.
will definetly return!! loved it!!
my boyfriend and i were very apprehensive about going to turkey as we had thought it would be quite dirty and full of sleazy guys... we were covinced by friends to go and am so glad we did!
staying at club candan totally changed my opinion of turkey as the hotel and marmaris itself was spotlessly clean. the staff are very friendly and helpful as were most of the turkish people.
candan even has an on-site photographer who takes the most beautiful photos around the pool area (which is lit up and georgous at night) prices are very reasonable
would totally recommend this hotel to people of all ages, i will definetly be returning to this hotel
We stayed at the Club Candan for a week this August. It was absolutely fantastic! We arrived at the hotel about 1.30 in the morning, the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and we were lead to our air conditioned room quickly. The accomodation consisted of a kitchen and lounge area, bedroom, bathroom and fairly big balcony. The apartment could have slept up to 5 people as there was a sofa bed and a chair bed as well as the twin beds in the bedroom. It was very spacious, it also had a table and chairs. The kitchen facilities were good, we had a toasty maker, 2 hob rings, fridge with small freezer and a kettle.
The bedroom was the only room that had air con, but it was a godsend as the temp was in the 30s at night! The bathroom was clean. The whole place is very modern and you could tell that it was a fairly new hotel. The only thing I found strange was you have to buy your own toilet paper!
The hotel facilities were also good, there was a mini market, hair dressers, jewellers, internet and ps2 area and a pool cafe/bar. There was bingo on every night in the pool bar if that takes your fancy. You could also use the gym free of charge and there was a turkish bath and pamper area downstairs. There was also a kids club if you are taking children with you.
The pool was amazing! Perfect temp for cooling off but not too cold! The weather was very hot when we were there in the 40s the whole week! The pool also has a slide which is loads of fun! There was also activities going on through the day for adults and kids in the pool.
The hotel is close to all restraunts, bars, shops and supermarkets, and is only a 5 min walk to the beach. The beach area is where all the nightlife is and also has many good restraunts! The best restraunt we found was called Heaven O Seven, it was the best steak we have ever had! (you can get a taxi to point centre, walk down towards the beach and the Heaven o Seven restraunt is to the left) Captains bar next to it is also very good for a few drinks.
You can hire a safety deposit box for around 25 Turkish Lira (about £10) for the week and if you ned to keep your room on the day you are leaving it is about 50 lira ( £20).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Whether you are going as a group, couple or family with kids it great!
I would also recommend going on the scuba diving trip thourgh Thomson! It was fab!
The currency is Turkish Lira but you will find that if you take English notes, they love them and you may get things cheaper by paying in Sterling, take some Lira with you though!
Club Candan is a great place to stay and we will definately return! Enjoy your hols!
Our best holiday yet
As always with Trip Advisor, you get all types of experiences reviewed which sometimes make you wonder if you are going to the right place. Well dont worry because this was a really great holiday.
It was our first time in Turkey and we didnt know what to expect. We arrived at 2am to be met by the waiting staff who helped us with cases. We were checked in within 2 mins and helped to our room by staff.
The complex is very clean and well maintained and the food is fairly good. Entertainment could be better, however if you are like us you like to get out and about. There are loads of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance with lots going on.
The big advantage with Club Candan is the location. Very near the centre but far enough away to be dead quiet at night.
New laws passed recently where the staff of bars, shops etc are not allowed to hassle you or they will be closed after 3 complaints.
Special mention here for the Summer Rain Restaurant which is located very near to the hotel. Food and service absolutely outstanding. Full meal for two with drinks averaged about £16 per night.
Wonderful place, Turks very friendly and we will definately be going back next year.
Minor faults but nothing to put us off going back to Candan.
Drink a wee bit more expensive, entertainment both during the day and at night could be better and if you go for a Turkish Bath on the first day as we did (very relaxing and we got a better tan) dont get the pics that they take. That wasnt worth the money.
All in all fantastic country, lovely friendly people and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday !!
Spent two weeks in the club candan in sept and overall a wonderful holiday. Booked our own flights and accommodation so as it is a thomson exclusive the transfer was a bit difficult as no one else knew where it was. At five in the morning having been up for nearly 24 hours we were taken to three wrong hotels as there are a few with the word "candan" in the name! After the bad start we were further disappointed as the double room we had booked was a twin with a fixed cabinet in between. when we complianed to reception they claimed the hotel has no double rooms, when handed over to the rep she then admitted there are only six double beds in a hotel of nearly 200 rooms, a bit odd. however, they are the premium rooms! after three nights we were moved to one of these. a bit of hassle but worth it. the new room was lovely. spacious modern and well equipped and decorated. certainly the highest standard i have encountered abroad. what we did find strange was the "sheets" on the bed. the covers are more like heavy, thick rough curtain material! The cleaners attended the room every day, which you would discover as they left the balcony doors open after they had left! their duties appeared to cover making the bed and removing rubbish. however, they would change the towels as often as you left the out. However, the floor seemed to remain untouched for the whole two weeks and your feet would be black as soon as stepping out the shower. it was evident that the situation was the same throughout the hotel from the colour of everyones feet you could see around the pool sunbathing. however, we did not encounter a single bug or cockroach of any kind in the hotel, Also the maids did your dishes and folded up your clothes, strange priorities! in the bathroom was a great power shower with plenty of hot water, often a rarity aboad, however it leaked after use, flooding the bathroom due to the blocked drain which made the room smell mouldy. the air conditioning is free and effective in the bedroom and for us not really needed anywhere else but if you had anyone else with you, i think it would have been unbearable to sleep in the living room. all the bar staff are friendly and attentive and reception changes travellers cheques free of charge at a great rate with no commission! the prices in the hotel shop are extortionate and the choice limited but food and drink choice in the restaurant was very reasonable and varied, especially for during the day snacks. there are plenty of sunloungers around the pool although they are pushed so close together you almost have to climb over others to get to them. the pool is a great size and depth and the slide proved a very attractive option indeed. very impressive for in a hote, better than some waterparks. the pool also remains a great temperature, not too cold but refreshing in the 40 degree heat we had. After so many positives it was a shame to end the holiday with an eye infection from dirty pool water and then the ordeal that is dalaman airport. there is countless information you could give about marmaris itself but in a two week holiday exploring every day and night we still never found everything, and it is easy to get lost. hassle is a bit much sometimes but a polite no thank you gos far. despite a few negative points to the hotel it was without doubt the best accommodation we saw throughout our stay and the location is its crowning glory, within easy walking distance over flat ground are all of marmaris's attractions, but as soon as you head to the street of the hotel, peace and quiet!! would reccommend
Going down hill......
We stayed at the hotel at around the same time last year. When we stayed 1 year ago the hotel was fantastic.... Clean, quiet, cheap prices etc.... We thought we would return because the holiday was so nice. Never again.... You will see my review from last year on trip advisor..... around June 06.....
The rooms are looking a bit tatty, walkin aroung the hotel room my feet were dirty!! The cleaners only cleaned once or twice and when the did they left out apartment patio doors open which i didn't like..... anyone could have walked in!!
We struggled to get a bed by the pool but luckily the hotel does have a policy - that any sunbeds left with towels on the barmen would remove their towels....
The food and drink prices have risen in the past year - quite alot actually.... and the food isn't that good for the price - you can get better elsewhere....
The weather was nice though.... :)
I do recommend the restuarant on the beach front - Uno Momento.... Its really nice and the prices are reasonable.....
Nice hotel, shame about the cleaners
We had booked to go here in May and again in September.
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at how nice and spotlessly clean it was.
The staff were very helpful and our grandaughter really enjoyed the kids club.
Food and drink was a little expensive but what you expect from a hotel.
The only issues I had was,
The cleaning of the rooms which was not the usual for anywhere else I have been in Turkey.
The bed linen and towels were clean when we arrived but only changed twice in the rest of the fortnights holiday.
Anywhere else I have stayed in Turkey bed linen and towels have been changed every other day.
Def not 4 star
Was really disappointed with this complex. Pool area was too small for not of guests very cramped. Towels and bedlinen on changed 3 times in 2 weeks. Rooms never cleaned properly at all just bins emptied. Food on site was really awful and very expensive. Location excellent fortunately though we used to take 10 min walk to beach and sunbathe there. All local restaurants good value ones by marina more pricey but lovely setting. Fortunately although 4 in our party booked 2 apartments was just as well because there was no air con in the lounge so sleeping in there would have been unbearable. Would not call accomodation self catering either just had fridge kettle 2 rings and a sandwich toaster
Great for kids
Had a really good holiday in Marmaris during September this year. The complex is great for kids with the swimming pool areas being of a high quality. Staff are very friendly and look after guests well specially if tipped. Food is okay at the 'hotels' outside restaurant but most of the restaurants in Marmaris offer the same average standard of food. There seem to be few that have just turkish or european food and most cater for the large number of british tourists that frequent the area. Recommend an excellent restaurant near the bazarre / port called 'the three palms'.
Hotel has adequate apartments but if you want to overlook the swimming pools from your balcony make sure you ask for this at the time of the booking - other rooms overlook the local houses or dirt patches (building plots) so the view is not great but they do have a cooler shady balcony and are not as noisy in the late evening if you want an early night or need to get kids to sleep (music stops at midnight) Kids club is poor and is in the basement with no windows. Air conditioning in our room was temperamental - this is not good when temps are often over 100f in season. Thomson trips are expensive - Pegasus offer good lazy day boat trip for £10 including a good chicken barbecue type looking (take snorkel and mask !) Guys - have a turkish shave for £3 (7 lira) its a great experience, quality barbers on the corner of the road 30 seconds walk from club is really good. Need any more advice please email me RS
Brilliant new hotel, very clean. Brilliant for all ages and especially family with kids. Pool is great for the kids they will love it. In reception their's a box for books that other tourist have left behind so i read loads of books and put them back and left my own books their. The other box is full of remaining sun creams and food that departing guests leave behind so if you forget to take sun cream you can help yourself to anything in the box.
The hotel provides alot of entertainment and must say alot of the young people acually stayed most nights and then went clubbing.
They have a shop in by the reception so if you need milk etc you can purchase it their. Alot of guest went to supermarket and caught taxi back with loads of litres of water and food etc.
Was not impressed with marmaris itself but can not fault this hotel, when you look at the other hotels your ust grateful that you are staying here. It's located near market. So don't waste time going Icelmer market they are the same market that comes to marmaris. Loved their fresh bread.
Beautiful view on the way to Knidos
Go for a swim in the Mediterrenean sea

RE: club candan
Hi, my boyfriend and i just came back from turkey we stayed at the club candan and we loved it . We were made very welcome our rooms were fantastic with inbuilt air conditioning the waitors were very friendlyand helpful the whole place is very safe and very clean. the location of the hotel i thought was excellent as it was not noisy when you wanted to go to sleep. just round the coner their is a little shop which sells bread and milk just like the local coner shop ( but their is a supermarket within the complex). further on doen the road about approx 2 mins their is a selection of bar/resturants which prices avarge around 10- 16 lira for a meal depending on what you order, breakfast is very cheap their 5 lira i would recomend the bar jana just down the road as their breakfasts are lovely proper bacon and sasauge hee hee. If you want more livelt entertainment barstreet is where you want to go its about 10 min walk away down the road and along the beach way or £ 2/3 pound taxi ( which their is a rank outside the hotel! well i hope you enjoy your holiday as we did love from emma x
club candan apartments
hi,has anyone stayed in club candan apartments, and what are they like and are they near centre....
RE: club candan apartments
Apparently these apartments are brand new for this year try google and search there.
They are in the Armutalan area away from the main drag, but the area around is
great for bars and restaurants
RE: club candan apartments
Hi, I am going back to Turkey in a few days and staying at the Club Candan apartments. I know they are near the weekly market, but dont know what they are like. If you have already been I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks
I wonder if you could tell me how long it takes to get to the mud baths from marmaris we are staying in Club Candan in Sept
RE: Mud Bath
It depends if you go to the mud baths on your last day or during your holiday. If you go during your holiday you go to Dalyan by a boat, which takes around 2 and a half hours (and the seas can be very rough!). But if you book for your last day, you travel by coach for just 2 hours.
