Fun packed and friendly!
Stayed for a fortnight in the Club Exelsior.
As it was the end of the season, the paintwork in the apartment had a few scuffs and marks, but nothing that a quick coat of paint over the winter won't take care of.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and seemed keen to keep everyone happy and involved. Bingo, pool-games, karaoke, competitions, etc. The forced hyaena-like laugh from the shaven-headed bloke did start to grate after a while, though!
Happy hour (2-4-1) from 8-9pm, followed by 2-4-1 cocktail happy hour from 9-10pm every night . Decent food and nice and central.
The huge Tesco-owned Kipa superstore is just a five minute walk away. The waterfront is a 10-15 minute walk away and there are lots of pubs and restaurants in the vicinity.
Our apartment had efficient air-conditioning, which was a must and it overlooked the great pools. The apartment was cleaned every day and was fully equipped Strangely, we were only provided with one toilet roll on our arrival and it wasn't replaced throughout our stay.
The music from the hotel bar was very loud until midnight every night, which wasn't conducive to a decent sleep if you wanted an early night. But who wants to go to bed early when you're on holiday?
Would be happy to return to the Club Exelsior.
im 16 now and was 15 when i went to club exelsior. i went with my younger brothers and sisters, who were 6, 8 and 10 and all loved the holiday aswell. there wasn't really any need to leave the hotel as the enterainment was brilliant and the food was nice too. the staff were all extremly friendly, funny and entertaining. the entertainment is for all ages and goes on for most of the day and night, whether it be pool games or karaoke ect. me and my family would definatly go back, 100%, maybe this year. the only thing i can think to critise about the area is marmaris beach which is a bit stoney. i would recoment the hotel to everyone :D
well worth a visit
Just arrived back from Club Exelsior and cannot fault it at all, other than still want to be there!
Only down side was 4half hour flight and 2 hour transfer, seems like youve been travelling all day!
Also my husband been to turkey twice before and he said not as cheap as it used to be.
You do get hassled to go into pubs, restaurants, to a degree it does get on your nerves by the end of the night!
Rooms have everything you need and are cleaned every day, it took us 2 days to work out sofa bed, Footstool goes under fold down, otherwise you will have a dip in the middle.
Staff brilliant, really make you feel welcome, take time to sit and chat to you. Entertainment team really good, again take time to talk to you, but not intrusive.
Food in restaurant ok, but we ate out most nights, but ok for day time sanacks and not overlly priced.
Go down to mamris front, well worth a vist to the harbour, then walk along the promonade, sit in one of the pubs and watch the sun set over the sea, really beautiful. (state 20 minute walk, but more like 45, we took a taxi only £4.00)
Def go and see Robbie Kents ladymen show, brilliant, havnt laughed so much in ages, well worth the money (b ook through rep).
Places to eat, if you like steak (and I mean steak, never seen T bone so big in my life! and tender), go to Natalies on mamaris front.
Amphi, does very good food and if you eat there at night have breakfast the following day free, and very nice it is to, Also all drinks buy one get one free. This is go out of hotel to end of road, under bridge, turn left and you will see if on right, opposite amphi theatre.
Also if you turn right at end of road keep going, cross road you will come to Parkhead pub, again very nice meal here. and home made chips!
Next door to Parkhead is Sue of Boltons Pie shop for those missing home food too much!
My first visit to turkey and I must say not what I anticipated at all, expected it to be shabby, smelly and dirty, however it was beautiful, clean and friendly, Would have no hesitation in going back, especially if you have children Club Exelsior is brilliant.
excellent choice for family holiday
First time to Turkey and was a bit apprehensive as I was going alone with my 3 kids aged 13 10 and 8.
The apartments are basic but clean and we had maid service 7 days a week .. (dad alone with kids I needed it too !! .. she even washed up for me twice !!!)
Air con in 1 room ( can hire a fan for around 10 quid a week)...fridge .. hot plate ring thing ( did not use ) .. small eating desk .. microwave and you can hire a tv for £15 quid a week .. did not bother as kids can argue about that at home without going to Turkey to do it !!!
Hotel staff were excellent ... my maid as you can see was great .. but apart from her ... there was a selection of staff covering a small reception desk 24 hours .. all friendly ...
Bar staff were excellent always greeted you everyday even if you were not staying on site on the day... did not mind being pushed in the pool fully clothed during the day and generally just mingled in a relaxed manner with guests when not busy serving drinks (during the day.) pool closed once they convinced my 3 to get out usually around 7pm.
Music around the pool was non stop but easy listening and I found it relaxing.. turkish songs were occasionally played and the staff would drop waht they were doing to perform the dance routine .. which kids and adults would join in ( even if in the pool )
Although Self catering you could easily consider this to be half board type hotel as you could pay for meals around the pool from around 9am onwards and all at reasonable rates .. infact the 4 of us often ate by the pool on a night ..would cost me about £20 with drinks( they take English money here and all round the resort even the hyper markets giving a better exchange rate than i was getting in the uk .. and much better than travellers cheques!!
Eating like this was totally relaxed and better than the zoo time feeding you get at actual half board hotels where you get to sweat inside a room and squueze past other guests while you fill your plate etc..
Local restaurants were just as cheap and just as relaxed..The hotel complex was about a half hour walk ( with kids ) from the main centre and perfect as I was not looking for permanent hussle and bussle.. night time noise after 12pm was minimal.. and who goes on holiday to get early nights anyway!!!
There is a small supermarket that is cheap enough 24hrs just outside the hotel entrance buy bread cheese drinks sun cream ice cream etc...If you want to save more money and fancy a 10 min walk there is a big air conditioned hypermarket ( KIPA ) .. sells Tesco stuff where you can get 5litres of water ( NESTLE so not crap ) for about 70p...
All in all I went self catering spent around £900 in 2 weeks (of which £100 was spent on trips and around £200 on clothes and presents) ok alone with 3 kids I did not get drunk on a night but I found it an excellent holiday all the same....
Any other parent intending to travel alone with kids my report is genuine and I would not have any hesitation on going back nor would I have any hesitation at recommending the place unless you are the type of person who has high expectations and demanding of peace and quiet and some solitude while paying relatively cheap price ... in other words expect the class of the Hilton and the etiquette of their staff and have no kids in sight enjoying themsleves...
Ignore any negative comments on this hotel unless you want a holiday of quite solitude and nights in bed before 10pm.
I miss the place and want to go back next year
Stick with the reps
The reps at the hotel are fantastic and very knowledgable of the the area. They really do make your holiday. The staff at the hotel are very frienldy and are very welcoming to their hotel and they will go out of your way to make you happy. There is lots to do inside the complex.
Went on lots of excursions with the reps and I strongly recommend using them to buy excursions. I have been to Turkey several times and used to book the excursions through the booking shops on the streets. This year I decided to book with the rep as I had such a bad experience last year with the booking shops, the standard of the transportation was terrible and there was no guide to accompany you. THe reps really know how to look after you on their excursions. Be careful with the boys on the street they're just after your money.
Aw , Dont know where to start , club excelsior is the best hotel ever , been there 3 times with my family , may 2001 , may , 2005 and september this year and it has been Soo Amazin. The staff are GREAT! they are so entertainin , amazin with kids and soo friendly , especially Tom, Gurkhan, Muzo, Hakan and Lisa etc. , Hopefully will be back again soon. Love From Leanne ,James (jimmy), Carol - anne and Baby Lauren
We have just returned from a two week stay at Club Excelsior being our first (and apprehensive visit) to Turkey. Why did we we worry ! We should have come here years ago. The hotel is excellent. The friendly maid service (Ayura) with the added floral contributes to both the living area and the bedroom were a wonderful surprise. Tom, the charismatic manager of the bar/restaurant staff consistently ensured that ALL customers were attended to by the best bunch of waiters ever - and what about the entertainment staff ? Headed by a brilliant and hilarious manager they keep the hotel guests entertained from 1.00 pm to well after midnight. Kids love them - adults love them ! We are still chuckling after watching the sketches that they do. This is a great family hotel and recommend it to anyone. A big hello to Aidyl (bar) who became a good friend to us. Turkey should be proud of Club Excelsior.
loved it...loved it... miss it... miss it
Party of five 2 adults 3 kids 13,11,3 from burton on trent
Well what a holiday we had at club excelsior it was pure fun from beginning to end we spent 2 weeks there and was never bored once kids thoroughly enjoyed it. there is entertainment day and night which was great ,best entertainment staff are unboy and fifi. Rooms are to the highest standard of cleanliness they are cleaned daily and if you left dirty pots in sink they would clean them for you they made gorgeous patterns with towel and flowers on your beds. Resturant was great with a great variety of food to choose from. Bar staff were always happy and friendly it was like one big family. My daughter had her birthday while we were there and they made a big fuss of her and made a gorgeous birthday cake. People here cannot do enough for you we have already booked to go again next year. Good im missin being there like mad we have had some really great holidays but this one really does stick out
Loved every minute!
I stayed at the club excelsior from the 5th of june 08 for 1week.
On arrival i thought it looked ok,nothing special but in the morning i realised these apts/hotel were pretty decent!
We stayed in the main building but often went through to the smaller apts during the day as it was alot quieter.I myself and my mate werent bothered about the main building being loud as we're only 19 and enjoy having loud music playing but as we were there with my mum along with my sister and her boyfriend who preferred the smaller pool this is where we stayed in the daytime. The hotel itself ie rooms were clean and quite spacious. The only downside i had was that the furniture could be a of brighter rather than dark wood.
The staff at the excelsior were brilliant and really make your holiday..espcially...FIFI/J.J/ONBOY/and EFE! Tom(manager) Well his laugh is something to laugh at...haha..You'll know what i mean if youve heard it.!Had such a good time in marmaris for the third time and am already looking into going back in aug and maybe working there next summer.! This hotel is for you if you like loud busy kinda hectic holiday :) if you want a quiet one stay away...!Or stay in the apts next door! Oh and the hotel is a little bit away from the beach so at night get a taxi..dont walk, you'll pay about 8 lira to the front! All round had a great time and cant wait to go back...See you all soooooon :)
