Hello! My husband and I will be traveling to greece-turkey in May. Originally, I had planned on crossing into Bodrum from Rhodes but found out there are no ferries till june. so switched to Marmaris instead. the rest of the itinerary includes Ephesus, Pamukalle and flight from Izmir to Cappadocia and finally Istanbul.
We are not planning on renting a car, so are at the mercy of public transportation. How easy will it be to find buses from Marmaris to Selcuk? I was thinking of staying in Selcuk, since it seems central to the sights i plan to visit. Once i get to selcuk, should i book a tour to ephesus and pamukalle or is that doable on my own? I am trying to book the trip so i am not wasting too much time commuting from one place to another. thanks in advance.

I did this similar trip last year, all by public transport arranged when there. It is very easy. The main bus companies for the longer journeys have offices by the Dolmus terminal in marmaris, this is where you book, the actual bus station is further out, can be reached by taxi or dolmus if you know which one to take. Selcuk is a good base. You can reach Ephesus on your own, I booked a Hotel which included transport there and back to Ephesus in the room price. Selcuk is lovely, and I found it quite interesting, there is a very good museum here, and other ancient sights.

Thanks so much for your help. I have been so overwhelmed planning this trip and ur advice has been great. I have booked most of my flights except the cappadocia one since sunexpress has not come out with their schedules yet. I guess i am a lil bit of a control freak and want to have everything done.
I am going to take the advice, and stay in Pamukkale overnight and take a bus over to selcuk. Should I wait to book hotels too? Since I only have one day in Pamukalle which includes travel time i want to get there early enough to make the most of it. Hopefully there are direct enough bus routes.

It was the Hotel Artemis, only a cheap one, for the price I was happy, and the woman on reception was extremely nice & helpful.
There are other hotels, maybe more upmarket that do the same deal.
This is what you see when you don't look at the sea but to the other side....all mountains. It is a lovely area and I think it must be great to drive around with a car yourself and explore it all. It's a pity we didn't do that ourselves. We used the bus instead and had guided tours around. My fondest memory.....all the pro's I wrote down...the weather, the people, just very relaxing.

Actually this brand new boat trip start from Hisarönü and visits most beautiful bays like Selimiye Bays, Kizkumu Bays, Kamelya Island, Inbuku Bays... Lunch is on the boat...
Also visit the rabbits and Small Chapel on Kamelya...
PS: Transfer to Hisarönü takes 40 Minutes with Pink Cow Bus... which has natural air condition...
