More about Hotel Grand Ideal
Woould definately recommend the Grand ideal!
The fact that one of our cases didnt arrive until 3 days into the holiday didnt detract from the fact this was a great holiday
Decent location for those who like a strole back to the digs after a night on the lash/food or both!! It was around a 15 monutes walk into main town, but only 2/3 mins from nearesy tavernas & bars
Good sized pool area, get there early though to guarantee a decent sized sunbed! I understand that the hotel is due to be extended?
TIP - try the 'Hana Beach' restaurant in the centre, for something a tad different, and special. Youl know the one when you see it - the one out in the ocean!
very nice........building new one for '08
Well we stayed in the Grand Ideal for 10 days, at the start of October. The staff were very nice, always able to help, and full of information about Turkey. #
Great location, on the main street, BUT QUIET, restuarants and the beach a two min walk down the lane on the left of the mian enterance. Taxi to the Marina costs 8 lira only 5 min away, about 20 min walk.
Breakfast was usually the same but the hot plate area changed daily which was nice, dinner was the same but very nice. Our room was No:97, our balcony right by the steps for the pool. Trees over hanging, my first thoughts were "oh no, creepy crawlies!" but we had no problems at all. the air con worked very well, and the cleaners changed our towels daily and bedding every second day.
the water is another thiong but a problem all over Turkey, it runs brown for teh first few mins then is fine, but has a horrible smell and awful taste if it runs near your lips.
The weather was very nice, one day of rain, not too hot,BUT STILL TANNED NICELY, dont think id enjoy turkey in july or aug! too hot.
The hotel is a twin of the Grand Pearl, which is new and nearer Icmeler, they are owned by a lady and her 2 sons, very nice people.
The grand ideal is being extended from oct 07 - may 08, and will re-open as an AIl Inclusive hotel, with a larger pool and more sun loungers. It looks very nice. I'd recommend anyone to try it!! Grand holiday, we will re-book for next October! .
Excellent Hotel 10/10
Having moved from another hotel in Marmaris which was truly dreadful, we arrived at The Grand Ideal.
We were greeted by the Manager who knew of our problems at the previous hotel. He personally showed us around the hotel and all its facilities.
We checked into our room 318. It was light, bright and very spacious. The room looked like it had been newly refurbished. The room and bathroom was very modern and the room was cleaned everyday without fail, this included clean sheets and towels daily. The air con was excellent and FREE. The balcony was spacious with lovely views of the mountains.
The pool was a good size with two whirlpools. There is a bar serving food by the pool, which is very reasonable priced. You have to get a wrist band from reception that you top up with money to be able to purchase food and drink from the pool bar. The service is excellent and the waiters bring the drinks to the pool side for you.
We attended the Turkish Night at the hotel which was good. All your food and entertainment included for 15 LIRA/£6.
This hotel is very well situated, and close to the local supermarket (MIGROS) and a short bus ride to the harbour for only 1.50 LIRA/50p.
You would really find it hard to fault this hotel, I certainly couldn't. We will be returning to this hotel very soon.....
Charlies angels give this hotel 10/10
my name is Sonia and i thought this hotel needs a review of us(meaning my sister anette and my cousin Gill and obviously mee)
We were Charlies Angels in Room 111.
Just to say , we have realy enjoyed our stay in Grand ideal very much. The staff was excellent, the receptionist couldn't help enough and everybody was soo friendly and welcoming.
we always got a smile of everybody. The food was excellent and the Management was tops. The only drawback was the Entertainment. It was very poor. being a all inclusive customer , you expect the entertainment to be every nightand also have entertainment during the day. but unfortunatley it only happened 2 times in all the week we stayed and had to go into centre of marmaris to get some entertainment. apart from thi , we just want to take our hat off and say THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR STAY A LOVELY TIME. WE will be back soon so beware hahaha
We joked while on the transfer bus from the airport that we'd be the last drop off, because our hotel would be the worst. How wrong we were.
Upon arrival at the Grand Ideal we were warmly welcomed by the staff in the lobby. The lobby was very nice and the hotel itself seemed brand new with many facilities.
Our room was fantastic. Very spacious (enough for 3 adults). The bathroom was very nice. Powerful shower, thick towels. Soaps and shower gel provided too. The decor was nice and there was a nice balcony too. The a/c was also welcome due to the sweltering heat which is to be expected in Turkey.
Breakfast was included in the holiday. While it wasn't anything startling it was fresh every morning and plentiful.
The hotel and bar staff were absolutely charming and couldn't do enough for us. We found the food in the restaurant very reasonably if not cheaply priced and very nice on the whole. The swimming pool was gorgeous and there were lots of sunbeds which is always a plus.
The only let down was that the pool was closed each evening at 7pm. By the time you got back from daytrips it was often too late to jump in the pool, even though the sun was out until gone 9 every night.
The beds were also very firm but I think this is the norm for Turkey.
I really can't fault this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone going to Marmaris.
They also have internet cafe, hairdresser, jeweller and mini -shop on the premises. Everything you need for a great holiday!
now all inclusive. and not so good
We have just returned from the Grand Ideal. It reopened as an all inclusive in first week in may.
Firstly the hotel its self is wonderful, all brand new, big pool and plenty of new sunloungers with matresses and giant pillows.
Its a great location close to the beach and right on the local transport routes ( 50p to go to the town centre )
we found a few problems with it, mostly with the food. We are not roast beef and yorkshire types and dont look for english breakfasts, but we found the food to be a monotonous joke. It realy was bad, along with other guests we had guessing games as to how they would camoflage burgers or chicken roll. I will put some pics of the evening meals on the photo gallery. After 3 days we couldnt face the meals any more and started to eat out. I believe that they had gone over budget on the rebuild and have had to recoup money somehow. Arriving at 3AM we were told by a very curt manager that everything closed at 11pm and if we needed anything we would have to go out for it, there wasnt even water available in the room fridge. The bar closed every night at bang on 11, you could set your watch by it. The staff were exelent, not so the management who could do with major training in customer relations
I do believe that it will improve, it has to if its to compete, but I personaly wouldnt go back as it is currently very poor value for money, maybe they should have kept it self catering as previous reviews were very good.
the good , the bad and the ugly
well, we stayed in August for a week (at a special rate)
as some reviews before, we found that the staff was very ,very polite and helpfull--- you cannot find any better , I guess-- thumbs up there!!!!!!
the room 514 we stayed in, was very small, but at that rate still ok-
the airco was great during evening and day-time but at nights it was too cold. There was no way to adjust it yourself ; either on or off. leaving it off even during nighttime it was too hot---You couldn't leave the door open because of 29° outside during the night and the noise. (close to a mosque, if you know what I mean) The water in the showers/ taps was horrible ( I was told from 2 other couples staying also in Marmaris , that their water was ok, didn't remember their hotels !? ) it smelt very very bad and it was hurting your eyes, - so long showers were out of the question.
The breakfast was ok, everyday the same, but I found plenty --- if only they had put on the airco in the breakfast room ???? either it was broken or it didn't work properly .
Maybe or because it was very busy in the morning, they were trying to get people out of the breakfast room asap --- well it worked---
it was just too hot there in the morning no way of really enjoy you BF.
-----Marmaris is much too hot in August !!
to pay with the special wristband in the hotel, where you can put money on at the front desk at your likeing, is a good idea , you do not need to carry money arround in the hotel anymore.
;well , not enough sunbeds; so we went to the beach and had to pay 5 lira per bed/day .
Dinner was near the pool, outside , and very nice every evening .
The entertainer (Mr. Applaus I called him ) was a bit strange asking always for applaus, all the time???!!!!-
but, all in all it's still was ok ---- that's because I am not so fuzzy , I guess--
we had some nice pics taken form the hotel's own photographer, 70€ its a lot, but the pics were very nice--- better then mine anyways--
