More about Julian Club Hotel & Apartments

brilliant holiday

by TripAdvisor Member lambrinigirl

what can i say the club julian was brilliant,if you have children they will love it,got so much for the kids theyll never be bored eg kids club ,entertainment during the day and also the 3 swimming pools and water slides.at night they have mini disco for the kids, the entertainers are brilliant the shows they put on are great, they never seem to stop there is something on everynight, and also adult entertaiment during the day.the accomidation is great maids clean every day and the complex is spotless there is always someone cleaning up.the food is lovely and not one of us had a tummy bug once.the only thing that wasnt nice was the lazy parents who let there kids do the toilet in the pool.on a few occasions we heard kids asking to go to the toilet and the parents werent interested,so with that the pool had to be shut for the rest of the day so it could be cleaned, leaving alot of unhappy kids who can only use the small pool.this was my first time in turkey and we will deffiantly be going back to the club julian.

Yes,its good,its very good

by TripAdvisor Member nathanield

Well where can I start, from the beginning I guess.

We travelled out to Club Julian on 14th May 2007,initally on sighting the hotel it just seemd like any other hotel in the area but we were mistaken.

The hotel was spacious, the main reception area was very clean and the reception staff very helpful when we booked in.The hotel staff arranged for our luggage to be take to the rooms,so we went to check out the rooms and see what we had let ourselves in for.The bedrooms are not huge but large enough to not feel enclosed. The bathrooms were fitted with both Shower & Bath with good lighting.Yes there was a toilet too so no holes in the floor ! The one downside to this bedroom was the lack of storage space, one small in built wardrobe and an open cupboard for bits.
The beds were nice and clean and not hard old mattresses which was a surprise to us.

Downstairs just passed reception is the main bar and communal area for entertainment, nicely lit and plenty of room to either watch the shows or just sit and chat without having to shout.

Behind this area was the 2 pool areas. You can see that the Club Julian was well looked after, all the sun loungers were clean and not damaged and the pool area kepy clean without any rubbish lying around.

So far so good..

The Food..Hmmm well its ok,not a great selection but he food was hot and enjoyable, theres even a childrens buffet which was delicious ha ha ..

The staff of this hotel will help in anyway to make your stay a pleasent and memorable one, each time we asked for something or posed a question either a member of the hotel staff or the My Travel reps would assist you to solve any query or concern we had.I have one comment to make in regards to the Hotel Staff and that is about the Headwaiter 'Yusef' this man made life for us so enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble, his professional conduct and performance is to be commended as he work so hard and keep his team busy with supporting residents.

The My Travel Team well another commendation for hard work, not only the children entertainers but the whole crew. The shows that the crew put on were fun, humourous and entertaining.Top marks to those guys

My final thought as I close this is 'Go try Club Julian you wont be disappointed !

Thinking of booking? Go for it!

We ( myself and twin daughters aged 17) are just back from the Club Julian and it was GREAT! It's the first holiday in a long time that I wanted to stay longer. The food is lovely ( no tummy troubles here!) and plenty going on in the hotel for all ages.
All the staff are very helpful, friendly and polite. The only thing that slightly marred our holiday...was the RUDE behaviour of some of the UK guests!! (dont get me started!) At times I was ashamed to be from the UK.

There is a bit of hassle en route to the beachfront from local restaurant staff trying to drag you in for a meal. Most take no for an answer, but there were a persistent few. Our advice is smile, give a firm "no thanks" and keep walking!

Turkish Lira does for most purchases, tho many items are priced in Sterling and you sometimes get a better deal using Sterling. Remember you need an english tenner each on entry for your visa!

Definitely want to go back!

PS..Hello Ahmet!

great hotel, loads to do,will go back

by TripAdvisor Member tizzy65

just returned from 2 weeks at club julian, loads to do for kids, great pools,1 with slides,2 other pools,1 for little kids.all drinks and food are bought with a wristband which you put money on at reception, food is cheap but drinks are expensive,we went half board but went out every nite, rooms are spacious and clean (may have to chase up for refill on loo rolls as maid didn't leave any)
breakfast and evening meals ok but deserts are gorgeous,
we found a lovely resturant called Natural Park,go out of hotel, turn left,at end of road there is a bus stop,it is just there.
we ate at a few places but this one we couldn't beat, the food is amazing, victor and his staff are so friendly and will don't hassle you, they make you feel so welcome, they also have a puppy called Buddy, 2 ducks, 2 chickens and 2 turtles,
A meal for 4 and drinks all nite came to about £40.
We would highly recommend them 10/10.
If you go say high to them from Talia & Nico.
Go to Terry & Alpachino for your trips they are so helpful,we did 3 trips with them ! you must do the Jeep Safari ! it was best trip ever ! be prepared to get very wet !!!!!!!!!!
Then we did Dalyan, long day but worth seeing Tomb of the Kings,Turtle Beach and Mud Bath.(wear old shorts or bikini )
We also did Ephasis, very long day but the ruins are amazing and well worth seeing,It cost us for 4 £142,which was cheaper then reps,
Mad Boys,Coco Bongo and great steak house are worth the visit as well,
If you get up late don't worry as you can get full english breakfast anywhere for 99p.
Take english money as well as the turks love it and you get a better rate over there.
Yes ! you do get constantly asked to eat in their resturants but if you say you have just eaten they are ok.Everyone is so friendly, and they love to haggle.
We were worried about going to Turkey as our son and daughter are blonde but they dont sleaze after them, they just make you feel so welcome, mind you we did get 5 offers for our daughter but if you just laugh with them you will thoughly enjoy yourself.
It was very hot and marmaris beach is a bit shingley but the sea is clear,it is only 10 mins from hotel and you get the number 2 dolmus at top of road from hotel and is only 1 lira each (35p).
best way to work money out is easy!!!!! if item is 10 lira times it by 4 and add decimal point which makes it £4,it is so cheap to eat out and dont pack loads of tops or sandals as you will get some good bargains,
Hope this has helped ! and club Julian is the best hotel in the area and we are definalty returning next year !!!!!! we never go back to the same place twice,,,,,,,,,

A canny holiday

by TripAdvisor Member broonsDurham

We have just arrived home from a weeks stay at the Club Julian appartments in marmaris. there were 4 of us, myself my husband, 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son.

first impressions of the hotel/appts were ok, i felt it was very dark, dark wood, in reception, outside on the terrace, not my cup of tea i prefer light bright and airey but never mind. We checked in, the reception staff were very helpfull and cheery and our cases were going to be taken up to our room but after 15 mins of waiting we decided to go get them our selves. The rooms were very very basic,a little dissapointing as we were supposed to be in the hotel but were actually in the self catering appts.. after weighing this up we decided to stay in the Appt because we had a fridge which proved handy, The air con was joke!!! i could blow harder, and it was just in one room so we sweated to death in the room. We had a view of the local mosque, which was different.

The loo broke and after maintenance failed to fix it for the second time we gave up and used a dish of water to flush. however if i had been there for 2 weeks i would have perservered. The room was kept clean by the staff who were very pleasant. over all i would say that it was definately not a 4 star i would say more like a 2/3 star. The food was lovely especially the Sunday dinner Wow!!! plenty of variety and no one had a bad tummy. just watch out for the over anxious waiters who will take your toast or what ever away whilst you are going to get your cup of tea!! that started to get to me after a while and we had to leave someone on Watch duty at the table at all times!! the resteraunt staff were lovely though.

There was plenty to do for our children during the day if they wanted to particiapte. Loads of children there ages around.
Drinks and shop on site a rip off £4.00 for bacardi & coke- dont book day trips through reps also rip off . must do the Jeep safari and boat trip. overall a good holiday. Would go to turkey again but different hotel.

Absolutely fantastic

by TripAdvisor Member peacockEngland

just arrived home. We had a fantastic time. We were self catering the appartments were spotless the staff were exceptional, never once did we have any probs even when my elderly mother had to go to local Caria Hospital for 8 stiches in her leg. The hospital staff were brilliant & sorted all insurance out for us, we didnt have to do anything. They even picked us up at the hotel & dropped us back off for mum to have here dressing changed.
Special thanks to them and also to Ilymaz, one of the waiters and Beroll in the tattoo parlor, and the hairdressers who did mums hair for her.
I cant express my feelings EVERYONE we came into contact with was polite & happy to help.
Food was good, drinks a bit expensive.
Good bars were the Amore and one on the corner something farm ??
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR A FAB HOLIDAY SEE YOU SOON.
THE PEACOCK FAMILY,. & MAMMA

Chav-Tastic MadHouse

by TripAdvisor Member Sunseeker1984

Stayed here for a week end of July B&B
Good points:
Hotel and rooms clean
Food ok - no tummy bug
Plenty to keep the kids entertained
Reasonable happy hour
Reception staff helpful enough

Bad points:
Too many chavs who:
Swear at their kids - witnessed on more than 1 occasion
Fat women who sit/swim/sunbathe topless - yuk
"Women" with tattoo's, drink beer and chain smoke - even the pregnant ones,

Not enough sunbeds- who enforces the rule about reserving them? No1
Sunbeds all reserved - even at 6am!
Pools dirty - many people seemed to have ear infections,
A fair amount of litter / dirty elastoplasts around the pool,
On site shop a rip off - shop over the road cheaper,
No peace and quiet whatso ever - if you didnt want to join in with the entertainment you had to listen anyway,
Hotel about a 10min walk from Beach Rd,
Air con not on unless room key in slot - not good in 40degrees.

Overall I wouldnt return to this hotel i think there is far better standards elsewhere - it most certainley is not a 4star, Marmaris is ok but i feel all the locals want to do is rip you off and con every single last penny out of you in anyway they can, i would go to olu deniz / lara baech or somewhere with a bit more class and culture.

No probs altho food could have been a bit better

by TripAdvisor Member Sue42

Never been to Turkey before but would definately recommend it. The hotel we stayed in was brilliant for families with younger children (eg 5+) as the childrens club was really well run with plenty of activities during the day. They also had pool, water polo, quizzes etc for the adults. My children are a bit older, my youngest who is 14 didn't join in and my eldest, 18, didn't find many people(hoping for girls!) his own age. The staff were very friendly, some a bit too much but this is quite normal in Turkey, particularly if you happen to be a young blonde girl!! It took some time to get used to it. The food was ok but nothing spectacular, I know we were in Turkey but they did serve English breakfast but there was bacon with it only once! The sausages were a bit suspect too, they did try to vary the evening meals, not always to my family's taste but then you can't please everyone. The pool area was lovely and usually no problem getting a sunbed. The drinks were quite expensive and we found the hotel next door were a lot cheaper, we didn't find the 80p a pint that the travel agent told us about! On the whole the prices weren't as cheap as you may expect.
I think the biggest complaint I had was the way the Turkish wouldn't take no for an answer. You couldn't stop to browse in any shops because you had a man practically dragging you into the shop or following you around, the bars/restaurants were worse. And the boat trips/excursions. A few of the shops had signs promising "no hassle" but they obviously didn't know what this meant!! At the end of the day I suppose they've got to make a living but it was a bit off putting and we may have gone into a few more shops had it not been for the men perched on your shoulder!! We really enjoyed our stay but if we went again we probably wouldn't stay at this hotel, there was nothing wrong with it, but with our more adult family another one may have suited us better.
Would definately recommend Marmaris's Bar Street at night for the youngsters, it was full of Disco Bars, very lively and a great night out. We went to Icmiler (not spelt properly) by taxi and back by boat, a lovely resort, much quieter apart from the constant hassle from the sunbed renters!!
On the whole a lovely relaxing holiday, with no complaints.

Not Great

by TripAdvisor Member little_miss_mise

Would not consider this to be 4", more of a 3*. Hotel staff very nice, reception clean, pool area clean. Rooms very small, you could not sit out on balcony too small. We went half board, not a great choice for either breakfast (unless you liked eggs) or dinner. As weather was over 40, could have done with more umbrellas. It seems that when new people come in they do the half hour rule, if towel is on sunbed for more than half hour and no one there, they will take towel off and give sunbed to someone else. But this is only enforced the first day or two. People down at pool at 8am to reserve sunbeds. As we were in Turkey I was surprised that they allowed top less sun bathing for women. If you like drinking, smoking and have a tatoo you will like this hotel.

Self catering in Marmaris

by demic

Hi folks,

Would be very grateful for any recommendations on self catering apartments for first 2 weeks in July. Have been to Marmaris 5 times now, but the last time we booked independently, the apartments were awful....even by Turkish standards! Have just found incredibly cheap flights and gone ahead and booked them, so now need accom! Have previously stayed in Ichmeler and Armutalan but would prefer to be a wee bit nearer the front this time. Don't mind paying a bit extra for decent apartments.

Thanks, and have a happy summer.

Hotel Ebru Marmaris

by TraceyJ

I have heard a few people saying that this hotel is to be knocked down next year - a little concerning as I have booked 2 weeks in august 2008!! Please can somebody tell me if I have a problem or not!! Stayed there in aug 06 & found it a lovely place to stay.

Re: Hotel Ebru Marmaris

by sywilk

apparently it has been sold to make private apartments and retail outlets. thay aren't knocking it down totally apparently but it will not stand as the ebru. you cannot book for it next year now although it is still in the sunset brochure. you need to speak to your travel agent. we were told in july by the guys working there.

Re: Hotel Ebru Marmaris

by TraceyJ

Awww, thanks guys, now Im depressed! It was a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Looks like Im holiday searching again then!

Re: Hotel Ebru Marmaris

by Lauren976

The owner of the hotel has passed away forcing the rest of the family to sell up, I have stayed in the Ebru more times than I can remember and have stayed in close contact with the staff, It is a great loss to Marmaris that this family has had to sell up, it was one of the last few family run hotels. He and his hotel will be sadly missed

Re: Hotel Ebru Marmaris

try club julian ive been 5 times and love it goin bk this year for 3 weeks

Re: Hotel Ebru Marmaris

by gordy1

demolished this winter to make room for apartments. dont know if they will be for sale or for let. if the owner has died, there must have been 3 deaths because it was owned by 3 brothers.
