could you please tell me best means of transport from Fethiye to Marmaris --- bus or train and approximately how often they run and return

Fethiye and marmaris are very apart from each other. Say Fethiye is London, Marmaris is Paris. There is a huge distance between the two towns.You better ask this question while you are in fethiye if they have a direct bus service to marmaris. I think they dont. Bus is the only transportation system. If they dont have a bus or minibus servise I advice you to take the bus to Mugla. The capital city of that region. In the main bus terminal you can change your bus to Marmaris. From Mugla it takes 1 hour to Marmaris.
Tourism Information locates next to the old castle on the corner that you cant miss. If you need necessary information or Maps or any kind of help just go in and ask... They are very helpful and well spoken of many languages as well....
Along the port you can see many boats that advertise different cruises along the coastline of Marmaris. Ask some of them about the prices and what’s the itinerary of the cruise, how long does it last etc
The Knidos tour was one of the two of our favorite destinations by car (the other one was the Pamukkale natural wonder and basins with the Kleopatra pool).
The whole route gave already much: beautiful scenery, animals, nice villages on the way, nice houses. A narrow hilly/mountain road was also a part of the experience.
The ancient ruins were nice to see. Also the quick careful swim of mine - I don't know if it was an official place for that (slippery, stones). It was shown to us by a friendly Turkish gendarme who had hitch-hiked to and stopped our car on our way to Knidos :) There is namely a Turkish guard point in Knidos too.
