I am considdering going to Marmaris, I went here about 15 years ago but was put off by the many agressive restaurant waiters trying to get you into their restaurants. I have heared that this behaviour is no longer allowed. Does nayone know if this is true?
Unfortunately no... Yet this is a part of the culture, I am hoping you can find ways to enjoy it....I can't compare it to how it might have been 15 years ago, but I am sure there must have been an improvement at least in the language skills... so a firm "no" always works wonders...
I don't think this is true. Everywhere I travelled in Turkey, I was asked to eat at their Restaurants or go into their shops. It is their way. I just smiled and went on my way.
What's the problems? You can just say "No thank you" or keep a poker face and ignore them. They are just good sells people ;-) if they feel you are soft they try even harder because they feel they have a chance to convince you :)
I have not seen the waiters being aggresive, however they do try their best to get you to go to their restaurant. It's like this with a lot of cultures.
If you are visiting Turkey and would like a less bustling and more cultured atmosphere, I would consider you to visit Fethiye or Calis beach, both very beautiful places to stay, and not far from dalaman airport.
There is a tourist office near the promenade, they will provide you with a map and some basic info although you don’t need any map of the main town. Buy a good one if you want to drive by car further in Turkey.

Airport transfers are offered by Travel Agencies which you can arrange on internet, services are provided by cars, minibuses, midi buses and coaches depending number of travellers from / to Dalaman Airport, Marmaris, Dalyan, Fethiye, icmeler, Turunc. Please also look for TURSAB bonded Tour Operator so you have a complete assurance of a first class service.
The prices are different for transportation you choose like by car up to 4 people will cost about 40 GBP / 65 Euro ... By minibus which is for 11-12 people will cost about 60 GBP / 90 Euro.... After you contacted with the operators and gave the flight details (flight number and etc...) theyre sending their transfer service to the airport, someone is waiting at the gate holding a card writes your name on it.... ;)
On Marmaris shipyard the boats are built in the traditional way. They are the boats used as excursion boats.
