More about Litera Relax Marmaris Hotel
Dont stay here
*** DONT STAY HERE *** - Litera Marmaris relax hotel formley known as the Abacus Green Hotel is horrible. Myself and my husband spent a week there from the 18th August - 25th August 08 All Inclusive .... Yeah right there is no All Inclusive they have whats called "soft inclusive" which means what they want to charge you for they will. We were guaranteed a 4* accomodation and its actually a 4 sun which is 2*!! We were very dissapointed as we payed alot of money to stay here for a week. The rep was useless when we asked to move she told us we had to contact the travel agent we booked through and when we rang the travel agent they told us that the rep had to deal with moving to a different hotel, she then informed us that there were no rooms available anywhere else so we had to make the most of it. The pool is surronded by green carpet which is soggy and filthy. The main entrance into the hotel is lined with dirty rugs and leather chairs that are riped open!! When we went up to our room, we got stuck... the door handle was faulty and we had to shout over the balcony to ask someone to come up and let us out. We have stayed in Turkey many a time and never have stayed anywhere so dirty. The staff in this hotel were the most ignorant turks ive ever met, the food was ok if u like salad but when ordering drinks you have to use the same glass if you go to the bar with out you'r glass you wont get served. Look at the photos and see for urself.
****** THIS PLACE IS A ABSOLUTE DUMP *******
What a Shocker
My partner and myself returned from Turkey; The Litera Relax Marmaris Hotel three days ago. We booked our first summer holiday together on the Wednesday night as we flew out on the Saturday and so for a late deal we thought we had found a right result. The gentleman we booked the holiday with described the hotel as 4 star luxury..in his own words 'the hotel is like the Hilton group we have here at home, with only a short stroll to the beach, shops and nightlife.' we were desperate for a break so when he described how beautiful the hotel was, added to the weather we knew for the £1200 we paid for the both of us for 1 week ALL Inclusive sounded like a bargain.
Imagine our horror on arrival when we were greeted by a tiny pool, a closed bar, 1 gentleman on reception with no English speaking skills and 1 manky pool table that you had to pay for. Too tired to worry too much about it we waited till the morning to have more of a look around.
The pool was way too small, leaving our room just after 8am the sunloungers were all already occupied, the bar was only big enough for 1 member of staff, the seating was limited and we had to pay an extra £25 for the week for air conditioning in our bedroom. we later discovered that our short stroll to the beach was infact a 20 minute bus ride, the food was awful consisting of potato wedges or chips and a choice from day to day of either grilled chicken, roast chicken, chicken drumsticks or chicken slop!! lovely.
The holiday in itself was awesome..we ended up doing all that we could to stay away from the hotel, we went to the beach everyday, took a boat trip, went to the shops, ate out for every meal and enjoyed our first holiday together as we should have been doing for the amount we had paid. The downfall..definately the hotel, we had expected a clean, friendly and attractive all inclusive Hotel...what we got was an outdated, dirty hotel, with rude staff & terrible food. Cost of the holiday was also doubled, having to eat out every day meant that we were spending money on three meals per day for the both of us, we spent money going to the beach by bus everyday and even drinks in the hotel were an additional cost. how can an all inclusive hotel charge for drinks other than watered down local vodka and beer. what a joke! we were even asked to cough up when the entertainment was on having to pay to play bingo and watch 16 year old belly dancers and breakdancers! Rip Off!!!
I would advise that you never book this hotel even if you get a cheap deal...spend the extra and spend time somewhere were you can relax and enjoy the benefits.
On this occasion I can definately say that my awesome time in Turkey was down to the company and definately not the accomodation.
dont listen to others judge for yourself

Goldtrail's Holiday from Hell
My 16yr old daughter & I booked this holiday ten days before, fully all inclusive hotel allocation on arrival. It was my first holiday abroad for 20years. We landed Dalaman at 2.55am and were bused to Golden Orange (self-catering apartments) arriving at 5.00am - no rooms (phew! cats eating scraps off floor in reception!) got taxi to this hotel, no rooms, were shipped up to Litera Marmaris Delux in hills (even worse!) where we stayed one night then back to this one. No hairdryer, had to pay extra £25 for air conditioning (everywhere has solar power!?) staff were miserable, uncommunicative, unhelpful and unwelcoming. Pool was ridiculously small, plastic cups stank of dirty dishcloths and one I has water served in still had coka cola round the rim from previous drinker. The food was disgusting, wouldn't even serve it to my dog. We had to eat out every night. If you are unfortunate enough to get landed with this hotel go across the road to the Happy Restaurant Steak House (next one on from Uncle Sam's) and see Ahmet and Chris, they are really friendly, and the food's ok. You have to be up at 7.30am if you want a bed by the pool and be firm with staff, don't take any nonsense, they're rude. Don't pay for anything full price, barter them down, that's why nothing's cheap in Marmaris anymore cos everyone just pays the asking price, you can knock them down 50% what they're asking for, if not walk away and go back the next night and try again.
Worst holiday ever
This has got to be the worst hotel i have ever stayed in.
6 of us booked at co-op travel roughly 3 weeks before going. [Flew on the 19th August - came back yesterday (29th)].
We were told when booking that we were booking for a 4* hotel in Icemeler, 200m walking distance from the beach, we were also told that the hotel was in connection with the hotel opposite and that we were able to use facilities from either hotel. [e.g. food, pool, entertainment etc].
We arrived at the hotel at about 7am Wednesday morning, to find that we were not in Icemeler, but in Marmaris.
[Not where we originally booked.] Putting that aside, we checked in at reception - the receptionist was
unfriendly and hardly spoke.] For future reference you will have to pay a standing fee of £25 for the air
conditioning for the week. [Going peak season - this is an essential, we found it very benificial.]
Rooms - fairly clean, enough room to sleep and get ready. Decent sized bathroom, nice view from balcony [however later to find very noisy.]
Pool area - reasonably clean, limited sunbeds, no sun parasols for sunbeds, music to loud.
Reception – small, limited seating area, not air-conditioned, slippy floors [from people walking through from the pool].
Staff (overall) – rude , unapproachable , unfriendly.
Food – Limited choice of food, mainly Turkish. [There was also rumours going round the hotel that the chicken they were serving was infact RABBIT!!! We also heard this rumour from various members of staff from bars around the hotel. Due to the lack of food and food options we had to eat out morning and night – therefore spending more money than we originally expected.
All Inclusive – Don’t be fooled by this, it is infact a SOFT inclusive hotel. Drinks are only available 10am – 11pm (I then believe you have to pay for them after this time – we didn’t spend time in the hotel at this time as it was completely dead!]. The ‘soft inclusive’ does NOT include ice-creams and food is only available at specific time slots.
Entertainment – almost non existent! For the week that we were there the entertainment consisted of; 2 groups of breakdancers [very good!], bingo EVERY NIGHT [monotonous], & loud music every night. The music was usually played far too loud and sometimes sounded very distorted.
Due to the lack of entertainment and food options we were forced to eat and drink out every night. Although this cost us a lot more than we expected – it made it the holiday we wanted and had originally expected.
Maid Service – some days new towels were just thrown onto the beds. However overall the cleanliness of the rooms were standard.
Amadeus – full english breakfast for just 7 Lira! / BOGOF on cocktails!
Oasis Fun Pub – 2 English dishes for £10
[both of these have lots of choice – fantastic food, service great and the staff are lovely - all the bar staff put on as much entertainment as they can!!]
About 3 days into the holiday we started talking to other that we in the hotel to find that it wasn’t just our party that was in the wrong hotel there was numerous people that were complaining. The rep and hotel reception were inundated with complaints and requests to be moved hotels. However the rep was very brief and clearly didn’t want anything to do with it. [Our party was 3 couples between the ages of 17 and 20 – we were palmed off with the comment ‘you would have been bored in Icemeler – theres much more to do here at night.' To be quite honest that’s a poor repsonse for us being put in the wrong hotel!
As this was our first time in Turkey we will definitely not be returning, certainly not to this hotel, or with Goldtrail!!
holiday from hell,worst ever!!!!
we booked this holiday last minuet with GOLDTRAIL!!!never again!!!considering this was ment to be a 4star hotel and for familys it couldnt be further away from the truth!it was more for 18 to 30 club!which is ok if you just want somewhere to sleep but other than that it was awfull and i couldnt wait to come home, what a waste of money!!!we paid£300 each for this holiday and 6 of us went,my bath is bigger than the kids pool!the adults pool aint much better!when we were taken to our room there were punch holes in every one of our doors!the balcony door handle came off in our hands!when we complained they just kept glueing it back on!!!so all through the holiday we could not lock our door and we were put on the top floor with a door that would not lock when we had small children!our wardrobe was smashed up also!!!!when we went for our allinclusive dinner in the dining room,a guy and his girl were fighting as they were drunk, this resulted in the guy throwing his plate of food from one end of the room to the other, missing my daughters head by inches!!the food was chicken and chips day and night!!!!you had to pay for icecreams and also if you wanted airconditioning you had to pay £25 per week!!!!!!my partner had food poisoing and the only place we eat was at this hotel,to top it all off on the last day they wanted us to check out of our rooms by midday and pay £15 each allinclusive for that day!!!bare in mind it was ment to be 7nights we paid for but it turned out to be 6 nights as the 7th night was traveling to the airport at 10pm the 6th night!!!!!il never ever go with goldtrail again or for that matter go to this hotel.its put me off ever going to turkey again even though its probably a nice place, but pity i cant say the same for the hotel!!!!it was holiday nightmare from hell!!!!
Never again, not even a 2* hotel
Arrived home yesterday 31st August 2008. Booked the day before and were told that we were going to a 4* hotel. This hotel is a 4 suns hotel which equals a 2* hotel. The hotel is very very basic, food is very repetitive, chicken with every meal and we were there for two weeks with three children aged 11, 14 & 17 so I am sure that you can imagine how fed up we are of chicken. Breakfast consisted of boiled egg, warm salad!! cereal with warm milk and toast, tea, coffee and orange juice made with powder and water. I am very well travelled all over Greece, Turkey, Spain, Portugal all the baleriacs and the USA and I can honestly say this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are miserable and rude. We were told we were going on an All Inclusive deal costing us 3,100 and we had to spend another 1,500 just to eat food. My children were told they had to pay 8 lira just to play a game of pool and the minute the hour was up the rude staff came over and said finished!!! and if they wanted to continue they would have to pay again. No ice creams or afternoon snacks are included in the AI deal, only yukky cake and coffee. The pool is very small and crowded. Very limited sun loungers are available. The beach is a dolmus ride away or an hour or two to walk!! If you decide to stay at the bar in the evening the you have to pay for any drinks after 11pm and after 10pm you will not get another drink unless you take your old plastic dirty cup back to the bar. The evening entertainment is non existent, in two weeks we had only one belly dancer, and one group of street dancers (who were very good). The maid was lovely and kept the rooms clean. The only positive about the hotel was that our bathroom had been modernised, but the bedroom is not pleasant, very dated furniture and the worst bed that any of us have ever slept on. Our room was overlooking the court yard at the back of the hotel where all the waiters, bar staff etc, congregated till the early hours so got very noisy. On one occasion a guest asked them politely to keep the noise down and he was told to F off!!X Charming. The rep had over 100 complaints in the first week ours included. We have filled in an official claim form and swapped names, address etc with lots of other guests. Please do not go to this hotel it is a dump!!!
dont worry be happy
we a just got back a week a go and had alovely relaxing time. (18th sept 08) we had looked at reviews before we went and were thinking the worst. but i can honestly say that the hotel was clean the staff we friendly, robbie williams dj was entertaining they had a pool competion which was good which my partner won twice he was the turkey pool champ.
now then down to the food we didnt find anything really that wrong with the food yes there was chicken on eveyday and the meatballs were in diferent shapes but there was a lovely salad bar it and there were deserts were nice.we would get up early on a morning after doing the towels on the sunbed thing as if you didnt you wouldnt get a sunbed i would reccomend u get ther before 7.30am anyway best entertainment of the day was people belly aching over the food first thing on a morning, it wasn't that bad and no way would you let it spoil your holiday, i think you find some people just like to moan no matter what.
i feel that that the hotel should be down graded it shouldn't be sold as a 4* then it wouldn't get the slating it does.
most people who were there that i met just booked last min and got a cheapy hol all inc for a week. you do get for what you pay for. so if like us you were trailing thru the reviews getting in a
panic go with an open mind and you will be pleasantly suprised. aircon in rooms can be got on a daily basis, safety boxes are near reception. ther are hairdryer in bathroom. tv fridge in room nice place to stay 10lita for a taxi into marmaris which only takes a few mins to get ther. free bus to beach everyday but would recommend going to iclmer beach its a lot nicer. have a good holiday like we did. p.s any problems that other people had it was not with this hotel or the people that work here it was with whoever they booked with. shelley marie & the swayze bros ha from boro.
not the best, but not the worst
After reading so many bad reviews on here i was reading going to this hotel...
I must admit it wasnt like any hotle id stayed in before but when we got there i was relieved coz it was NO WHERE near as bad as id imagined...
The hotel is an hour and half bus journey from the airport to the hotel and obviously drops other travellers off at their hotels, we were practically last and when we got to ours we had to smile as it was alot nicer than some of the hotels other people were going to...
The pool was a lot bigger than i had expected, it was freezing but they always are unless there heated, however its a nice cold coz when you have been sat in 30oc all day its nice to cool down...
The hotel was quite small and there werent that many sunbeds however we never went down early to put towels on and we always managed to get one, there is tabels round the pool with chairs aswell so if you are unlucky and dont get a bed you can always sit...
Because the hotel was so small it was a nice environment, all the travellers got talking to each other because it was small, we made a lot of friends there...
Before i went id read that the staff werent very friendly at all, however i thought they were lovely, we had a laugh with tham all and we thought they were realli friendly. Its the same when you go out to eat, they are all very friendly and can sit talking to you while your waiting for your food.
The only problem i had with the hotel was the food, the desserts were GORGEOUS but i am VERY picky so i hated the main courses, we ended up eating out all the time which was stupid considering it was all inclusive however we got the holiday cheap and it was worth going all inclusive for the free drinks.
However the food when you eat out is REALLI nice!! My partner says he wants to go back to turkey just for the food!!
Breakfast was also a let down as allw e eat was toast which takes about 10 minutes to get brown as you have to put it through a good few times.
People also said about having to take your cups back when you want another drink, i think you should do out of courtisy anyway however they werent strict on it with us as there was plenty of times we forgot and they never mentioned it as they have someone that walks around collecting glasses and plates anyway.
Also as being part of the litera hotels and resorts you have access to a hotel in icmeler called the litera delux icmeler, we didnt go but people who stayin in our hotel who went said it was a lot nicer, the pool was a lot bigger and the food still wasnt the best but was nicer than the relax.
My only other complaint would be the hassel you get off the turkish people when your shopping etc. but thats turkey not the hotel and you get used to it in the end.
So overall i didnt think the hotel was as bad as i thought it was going to be but it wasnt the best but good for the price and if i was to go back to turkey i would rather stay somewhere else.
