3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Unbelievably helpful and entertaining staff.

Just got back from my first visit to Marmaris and had a superb time. The Melay/Club Atrium complex is unlike anywhere else we've ever been.. The staff are simply unbelievable. They are incredibly hard working, very friendly and extremely entertaining. They all introduce themselves, learn your names and love to chat. Nothing is too much for them and I really can't praise them enough. When the AC in the room packed up, initially we were offered a temporary fan (disappointing!) but after a quick word with the manager there were 5 workmen in the room withing 45 mins who fixed the AC. Rooms were clean and tidy and the cleaning staff did a very good job - especially so when one of my party was (embarassingly) sick in her room...
The entertainment at the hotel is brilliant - if you like a laugh! Around the two pools there is constant entertainment which you can either join in with, watch and enjoy, or just ignore. This ranges from organised games such as getting water polo teams together, to the staff throwing into the pool 'unwilling' guests! Works both ways as staff get chucked in too....
Evening entertainment in the adjoining Club Attrium is very funny and starts with clowns and stuff for kids earlier on and becomes more 'adult' later on. The house entertainers who are around the pool all day are then on stage in a variety of guises, (often in drag) providing some really funny events and competitions. Lots of guests onstage for synchronised dancing to the 'house' songs. Very catchy and fun. Waiters put down trays and jump up too. OK, if you are into fine art and Opera it won't be your cup of tea, but it really was amusing. As part of the complex there is loads of play equipment/trampolines/pool tables etc for younger kids, and Club Cuba is a nightclub that seems to be open untill about 6am or so. Again, you can either enjoy these, or ignore them - they are not "in your face". Loads of the staff (who never seem to sleep!) are in this club until late too - they are absolutely extroverted party animals. Got a family and don't mind the beach being 20 mins away (3 mins by bus from outside the hotel)? Then go here and love it! Young couple looking for romance and 'the real Turkey' - perhaps not...

Unique Quality: The staff are outstanding. Ali G, Ossi, Ebore and team - well done.

Marmaris Turkey 2003

by Tonynew

"Marmaris"

Our journey began from Leeds&Bradford airport The flight was on time and we arrived at Dalaman airport Turkey around 12.30 am then a 2 hour.20 min journey by coach including a stop for refreshments we arrived at the Maxwell appartments in Marmaris.
The appartments were very clean with a pool and bar to the rear .
The first day we went for a walk about the one thing i wasnt keen on was the hassle from bars restaurants and shops to get you to come in 'but this only seemed to last a couple of days then they seemed to understand no thanks !!!!
Leather jewellery and clothes are very cheap as is the food a meal for 4 people at Alexandras with drinks came to £28 and that was for steaks mmmmm
One thing you must do is haggle you will save a fortune on leather and jewellery even haggle for prices of excursions you will always get it cheaper
As for the weather not 1 single drop of rain during the day had the odd shower 1 night
The night life offers something for everyone, loud and boistrous on the front but quieter bars at the back of Marmaris
The main thing that lets it down if your a beach lover is the beach or lack of it , what there is , is covered in sunloungers
The beach down at icmeler is slightly better with a rough grainy sand which you can walk to from Marmaris along the front .
If you dont fancy the walk back catch the Dolmus a local mini bus just flag it down anywhere along the road it will stop and is very cheap .
The local drink here is EFES a lager beer which as per i myself took quite a liking to it

"Boat Trips"

One trip well worth going on is the local trips around Marmaris bay for 5 of us from 10 am to 5pm cost £20 for the trip and a BBQ included then we spent another £10 on drinks not bad for a day out for 5 people
It stops several times on the trip for diving off the the boat swimming etc
some will even give you a hook and line to catch your own fish and cook them on the BBQ very tasty they were too

"Banana Boat"

This was great fun its me sat at the front (MUGGINS) lol lasts around 20 mins and was thrown off 3 times ,mind you so was the rest of the crew but all thouroughly enjoyed it
Infact wouldnt mind being sat on that thing right now

"Captain Dylan"

My grandson Dylan wwho was only 14 months old at the time .
He loved every minute of it and even got in the sea wih grandad at the bottom of the boats steps , while we are talking about children the Turkish people love them so if your ever in a restaurant and the little ones are playing up dont be surprised if a waiter picks the child up so as you can eat your meal in peace its quite normal

"Night out"

Another night out on the town with a couple we met up with from St Helens
Its me and Anne on the right of the pic and Andy& Angie on the left and all the Effes behind us is for me lol

"Chilling"

Just me chilling in the appartments waiting for the girls to get ready looks like i'm in for a long wait !!!!!!

"Anne &Leanne"

My wife Anne and neice Leanne enjoying a cooling off in the pool at the appartments
How come when i ended up in it i was fully clothed lol

"Sunrise over Marmaris bay"

well thought i would finish off with a sunrise shot over the bay this is what you get if you get up eary enough !!!
Once again had a really good holiday here
Hope you enjoy the page folks
TONY :-)
