would not go back to the sidero
went to the sidero on 19th july 2006 for a week glad i was-nt there for a fortnight never got one nights sleep along with all the other guests had 28 lads come were told to get out of the pool to accomodate them playing volley ball guests on the sunbeds kept getting hit with the ball nothing was said to them i complained and staff never spoke to us again basic hotel not a three star in my opionion breakfast rubbish hotel clean cleaning lady lovely would never go back to this hotel mr fish across the road doing trips recommended
Sidero 3 star ?
We stayed at the Sidero Hotel in Marmaris for one week. The entrance to the hotel would prove difficult for those who have serious walking problems as the wheelchair ramp was very steep and to close to comfort to both a wall and the ajoining steps, as it was just wide enough for a standard wheelchair. However, the rooms where clean but basic and air conditionning was extra. The staff were pleasant if not a little miserable around the pool area. The pool area is a good size and is kept clean and has a large step area with barrier assistance to enter. The pools is one depth all the way through but they do offer a small pool for young children. The breakfast was basic and of continental type. The other food offered was not upto a great standard so we often went out for lunch. The hotel is situated up an incline but not to far away from the main road where you can either go to the beach or catch a dolmus into town. There are plenty of excellent resteraunts in the area and would recomment the Village which is adjacent to the hotel. If you feel like pampering yourself go to the Diana Hotel, turn right out of reception and it is just on your lefthand side. They do an excellent turkish bath and the staff are very pleasant. The lift is very small at the Sidero and those who use a wheelchair permanantly would find it difficult if not impossible to use the lift. Overall it was a nice hotel but I dont think it is worth the 3 star rating, a 2 plus would be more in line. My last bug bear is not just with this hotel but others I have stayed at, do the bar staff only have one cd to play ? it gets a bit much when you hear the same cd 5 times or more a day, each day. Thank heavan for MP3's and Cd players.
Brilliant, excellent, loved it, superb Sidero
We arrived at the Sidero Hotel on the 30th June for 1week, as soon as we arrived we got a warm welcome. We knew we were paying for a cheap holiday, basic accommodation but we absoloutly loved it, it exceeded our expectations, its so clean the pool area is so good. We are beach people really but only went once because we loved being at the hotel. The food is great, The staff are the best, we made friends with Ozzy,Action Man, Alex, Michael,Romeo,Onur,Ibo and Mehmet the pool guy! Sweeties!
Mr Fish is nice, but we didnt go on any trips,we wanted to do our own thing! Would definatly recommend this hotel and were trying to go back in September to stay there and see everyone. If you dont like it here you must be mad! WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!! The best holiday ive ever had!
Hi Guys, Action we know you will be reading this! We are still Ozzy's Angels!!
Dont be flirting too much with the girlys, Try Ibo's special Cocktail, its great! xx

This is the 3rd time that I have been to stay in the Sidero Hotel, Marmaris, and each time I go back I get to like it more and more. The hotel in itself is basic, but the staff definately make up for that. The pool area is very very clean, and all bar staff work right around the clock. We have met many friends from Turkey and meet with them each time we go. I would recommend anyone to go to the Playgirls Show at the Talk Of The Town bar on the seafront. It's a great night out, however I recommend you take children who are above the age of 10 years old. Hilairious night.
This is the best holiday I have been on and I would strongly advise anyone who is planning on going to Marmaris to book here.

P.S. Very very VERY Cheap jewellery gold, white gold, silver etc. My Mum has bought many items and everyone at home always stops to admire them!!
Small but friendly!
Just wanted to let people know my expereince of the Sidero Hotel and Turkey in general at the beginning of May 2006. It was my first time I had gone on holiday knowing where I was going to end up at. Usually do last minute holidays with allocation on arrival. Went with my family, who actually booked the holiday before I could have a say, but pleased that I didn't get the opportunity to say book somewhere else. When I typed in the Sidero Hotel, I was alarmed to see that it had been on Watchdog and then read the other reviews which were mixed, but mainly negative. My expereince was a good one. Yes the hotel is small and basic, but very clean and that is very important to me. What do you expect for the money, we paid £205 a peson! We were wanting a cheap holiday to chill out and get some sun,and thats what we had.The staff were all friendly and would do anything for you. Action man who runs the place is great along with his staff. Yes the breakfast was basic -cornflakes, bread, butter, jam, olives (balck and green ones!), ham type of meat like pek meat (not for me thank you!) cucumber / tomatoes and a hot dish e.g. boiled egg.Tea, coffee, orange, cranberry? squash type of juice. Apparently you could have a cooked breakfast, but I didn't see anyone with one and I wouldn't have had one, as it was too hot to have that in a morning. The chambermaids were very good too. Leaving petals arranged in your room and folding your towels / items of clothing in fan shapes etc like you see in the expensive brouchures for long flight destinations. We had photos taken by the photographer in the hotel which was great fun the second to last night there. There is no pressure of buying them either, but we bought them. Everyone has to make a living and it was the start of the season, so we haggled with the price as you do in Turkey! and came to an agreed price that we were both happy with. We never had air conditioning as it was colder at nights, needing to use the balnkets provided. But I could imagen that you would need it in the summer time when it is a lot hotter. I would have been relcutant to pay, but as I have been told by other people, that it is the norm out in Turkey to pay extra for air conditioning in cheaper accomodation. It would also have been nice to have a fridge to put your bottle of water in to keep cool, but you are not allowed to bring in food or drink from outside. I asked why this was and was told that it was to prevent ants and other bugs from being in the rooms. I don't think I would have enjoyed this stay if it was in the summer months, as I like to have a fridge to put in my bottles of water / beer etc. in. The nosie in the hotel I suppose was an issue initially, but I think I lot of it is to do with the structure of the building and also the other tourists who are staying. Where ever you go you will find people coming into the hotel at unearthly hours and in drunken states all over the world. So I think a lot depends of who is also staying at the hotel and I think with it being a cheaper hotel, it will attract the younger generation!! I couldn't imagen taking a family with younger children there, but it was great for our needs. The pool was a good size and clean and there were plenty of sun lounges around the pool. (but the hotel wasn't full, so could be a problem in the summer months) Never eat anything other than breakfast at the hotel, so cannot comment on the bar food. We only ever had soft drinks from the bar during the day, whilst relaxing by the pool, which were priced o.k, and didn't go down to the bar at night time, as tended to stay out at other bars and restaurants until bed time! Never expereinced Mr Fish as he was away on holiday, but had a friend running the business. A little pushy, but if you were not interested then he left you alone once you had told him. Had a turkish bath and oil massage through Thompson, not sure if it would have been better going through someone else, but really enjoyed the experience. Not sure how much we paid in total now. Paid for extra oil massage when we got there. But the way I saw it ,was that I was on holiday, and it was a great expereince, perhaps I may not get the chance again to go? I would recommend having it done at the beginning of your holiday to get rid of the dead skin, but also I could imagen it would be painful if you were sunburnt too.. Places to eat.... The Village House accross the road was good. Cosey Corner was a let down....took a long time to get the food and there were only another 2 tables in at the same time with 2 people at each. The music was played very loud too. Went to the restaurant recommended by the Sidero hotel on the first night. The hotel provided the transport, as it is tucked away in the marina and you would never find it yourself. The food was nice, but expensive. I wouldn't return there again. Maymi restaurant (has large orange canopy with orange table cloths) was fantastic. On the sea front and turn left, walk for 10 minutes or so. Excellent food and service and not too expensive either, which it looks from outside. In general we found everyone very welcoming, but also can be a little annoying as they love english girls with blonde hair and blue eyes! and are constantly wanting you to go into their restaurant/bar etc. If you just say hello and walk on, you'll get used to it. But we did find ourselves taking the longer route home, in order not to pass certain people! I think that everyone is trying to make a living out of the tourists as they don't have much work out of season and they do have families to support. The markets were interesting, be cafeful of your posessions at all time and be cautious with your money. Be aware how much you are handing over and the change you get. We never had any bad experiences, but heard some from other tourists on the trip back to the airport. Remember to haggle with them, its great fun!! and you can get a bargin if you try. They have a lot of fake stuff, not sure how good a quality (eg bags, shoes and t shirts)it is as I didn't buy any of these only spices and 6 wraps. A lot of stalls, selling the same stuff. I recommend taking sterling for the markets as they do like it. A lot of places tend to deal in sterling, Euros and the turkish lira, in fact any currency really. Its all money to them!! All in all a great time was had by all three of us and I would return the same time of year again.
This hotel was absolutly brilliant, Me and a friend came here (3rd July) and we are so guttered to be back home. the staff were very nice especially alex and romeo. they make you feel very welcome and have a good laugh with you. bar is open til the last person drops which is good if you don't fancy going anywhere else but before we came here we had read some bad feed back on this hotel and believe me, it was fantastic. thank you every one at sidero. we wil be coming back very soon.. oh and mr fish is such a nice man, if you want a trip, take them with him, NOT the rep. they have you off big time...
love vicky and natalie from jersey x
Very fussy vegetarian.
I stayed in the Sidero July ‘05 and it was excellent, very clean, staff were good. I thought it was a great location close enough to the town and beach but far enough away. The staff did a great job of entertainment, games at the pool etc. Very good value for money. I was very worried about this hotel because we got such a great deal but we had a great time. Our party of people was male 27, female 22, female 40 and female 12 and it was great for all ages.
There is a great restaurant down the road called Van Goghs and the food is excellent they will also do anything on the menu with vegetables instead of meat for vegetarians and they do a great vegetable casserole with mashed potatoes (But steak etc very good so I’m told).
The other reviews are right about Mr Fish (travel agent across the road) he will annoy you but he is a good agent for going to Rhodes or for Jeep safari etc cheaper than holiday reps but does exactly the same thing. I would definitely go back again but wouldn’t eat the food at the hotel, breakfast not worth getting up for!!!!! Everyone in Turkey was lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Bar street also good but expensive
this place is absolutely wicked. would definately recommend to anyone that is wanting to enjoy their holiday and meet some cool people. definately pay mr fish a visit to book some trips, would not rip you off. actionman (reception) is brilliant as are all the lads - especially onur, alex and ibo. rooms all cleaned exceptionally well. would definately go back again. thanks for a great time! catherine and mary xx
lovely hotel bit noisy (other drunken residents)
not one of the most luxurious hotels in the world but very clean and the staff particularly action man on the reception is a character and very helpfull. We stayed for two weeks and every problem in our room was atttended to the same day! Great pool and far enough out off town to be fairly quiet only a five minute dolmus ride and you are in town, but there are plenty of shops/bars restaurants around if you dont want to go to town and three supermarkets in adjoining buildings one of which is 24 hour. Had a great time and looking to come back in september. Mr fish (we were told that fish in turkish means bollock) so that is what we called him works for a local excursion company across the road he is very genuine but a hard sell man but we recomend to use him for your excursions/trips as they are the same and sometimes better than T/C but for less money eg lazy days cruise from T/C does not include local spirits and cost £4 more than from Mr fish. I will say to you Mr bollock I will be back from robin hood. All in all we had a fantastic holiday the only down sides were the extra cost for air con and unfortunately we had a lot of other guests that were inconsiderate drunk and all kinds off noise doors slamming etc at all hours off the night the other thing that we should point out is that the hotel is aoubout 400 meters from the biggest mosque in marmaris and we were woken at 4.30am by the loudspeaker systeem hailing the muslims to prayer this hailing happens five times a day but you do not notice the other times as there is always music going on in the daytime and evening. thanks to actionman and mr bollock we not forget you from Steve and Christine
