More about Sun Love Hotel

Youth hostel or hotel?

by TripAdvisor Member redlollypops

Have just arrived back from the Sun Love hotel or was it a youth hostel? The age of the staff ranged from 18 to about 30 they seemed to be on holiday themselfs, i.e. sunbathing on the rough brown uncared for grass hogging the pool tables if i was 18 i would have got served at the bar and recieved some sort of service, instead we were virtually ignored when waiting at the bar another couple had to bring glasses back from a table before they would serve them.We never once seen a glass collected or table wiped. we were all inclusive bar choice beer, gin, soft drinks in small glass unless young then large glasses available no problem for us not big drinkers. Food chicken every day which was either stew very bland curry more like soup some sort of casserole no taste nuggets only one of these chicken choices every day or meatballs needless to say we ate out most nights salad left out from dinnertime so would not touch it. Breakfast runny looking scrambled eggs or cold beans and what looked like tinned saussage which if left gos on lunch menu with gravy on top.no toast coffee machine broke down about every ten cups. theres a lot more i could say about food and choicenot good.

A holiday is what you make it!!!

by TripAdvisor Member nett4uk

My family travelled to the "Sun Love Hotel" 5th -12th of September 2007 . We got a last minute deal with Sun Wings travel & after reading all the reviews I was worried sick as to what I would find, but we went with an open mind and basically a Holiday is what you make it, and you get what you pay for!!!!!!
Hotel as described ........Yes
Food was basic but I have 2 very fussy lads 16 and 18 yr olds but they never went hungry food all hot and never had any comments when they asked for more or even went up for seconds.
Bar ...... was very slow but then so is the pace of Turkey we had no complaints with the drinks apart from plastic cups but at least you know that theres no chance of finding broken glass by the pool.
Pool was very warm ample sunbeds.
The rooms were clean & well fitted but as all flooring is tiled noise travels.
Fantastic Turkish Bath & massage at Hotel would highly recommend.
Met up with some really nice people & had a great time wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks.
Just go with an open mind.

We had a fantastic time

by TripAdvisor Member Stella50

Having read some of the reviews about this hotel, we were somewhat concerned about spending 14 days here but we were pleasantly surpised. We had booked a family room (there was three adults) we expected a double room with a single bed but our accommodation was two double rooms. The rooms were spacious, clean, air conditioned and entirely satisfactory - we enjoyed our stay and the staff were young but very courteous and helpful.

The bus to the main areas of Marmaris was just across the road and very cheap. Taxis were made available by asking at reception and again very cheap. I was also very easy to walk into the resort centre - I was able to manage quite well and enjoyed the "dander".

The food in the hotel (we were 1/2 board) was not very nice but we were able to get enough food to do us and if we didn't fancy anything on the menu there was many, many eating places in Marmaris itself ranging from up market restaurants, tea shops to the touristy type places catering for the "English" market.

My husband was taken ill on holiday and the hotel staff sent for a Doctor and he was taken to a Clinic, then to the hospital and the care he received was excellent. Again the staff in the hotel were very supportive especially Brian the Manager and Byron the Waiter.

The trips available were very good and we enjoyed the "lazy day boat trip" the "jeep safari" and a trip to the mud baths.

All in all we had a great time and we would not hesitate to stay at the Sun Love Hotel again should we go back to Marmaris.

All visitors to Turkey should also be warned that a Visa for each person is required and is paid for at Passport Control when entering the Country - this is £10 sterling and they accept only Bank of England Notes

I would not want anyone else to go through what we did

by TripAdvisor Member TruthfulLondon

I was very disappointed with the Sun Love Hotel and my partner was too. We drove up to the Hotel and my intuition said something was not right especially after a Right HolidaysRep guided us to our minibus to be driven to the hotel and after the driver told us we would wait for 15 mins for the next flight which turned in to over an hour.

I had a stressful and upsetting holiday due to:

1. Food was all inclusive but was not fresh and there were flies hovering around and on it. What you had for breakfast would be put out again for lunch and dinner. Plates were piled up on trays where food dried previoulsy was on the walls.
2. Our room had no natural light on arrival and 3 single beds down a long dimly corridor only to be moved to another room with a patio door that had been broken and staff sleeping on mattresses outside. On request once again we were moved to a double standard room with a balcony which was stated on our invoice.
3. My boyfriend was harrassed by the barman who wanted his football shirt and stated to him that all the customer's would give him something. This turned in to him being ignored at the bar and made to feel intimidated and vodka put in to his beer when the barman thought he did not see him.
90% of the staff were not friendly or welcoming and did not like any complaints. All you would get from reception is talk to your holiday rep even in regard to towels.
4. It did feel that because we had gone all inclusive we did not have a choice regarding the above and when I spoke with my Right Holidays Rep he was not helpful at all.
5. The Right Holiday Rep was very friendly with the staff and was only helpful when we booked excursions which he ripped us off on and we went on an tour that he did not truthfully tell us the rest of the costs that would be on it. We did manage to get a refund for the following tours but not the above one and had to spend the money on eating out.

I would Suggest if you go there:

1. Be aware the stafff expect the shirt of your back and are only interested in having fun and flirting with the women.
2. There is a Supermarket as you come out of the hotel that is the first right called KIPA where you can get fast food in there and you can also sneak food in. Natalies Restauarant by the beach is also very good.
3. Try not to go AI if you do go and that the facilities they advertise are not all true.
4. If your looking for a hotel that you can spend most of your time at and a first holiday together I would not advise it.
5. I could not eat the food as it made me very ill and stomach cramps.
6. We met lots of people who felt the same way.

If you spend lots of money to go there you may well be disappointed. It could have great potential but myself and my boyfriend felt the staff were mainly unfriendly, did not make you feel welcome were at times intimidating and unhelpful and viewed you as an annoyance. As for the food, it was not even a 1*.

There are many people we met who have travelled to many locations around the world that felt the same way but I think some people felt nervous and intimidated and kept quiet as Sun Love is more Sun Terror.

we arrived at ths sunlove in the early hours of the morning when we got out of the taxi i knew we were miles away from the centre of marmaris we have been there about 15 times but this was a last minute break and we were told it was a 4star hotel rubbish i wouldnt even give it 2stars the food was very bad the staff were ignorant especially byron all he did was ask for tips the waiters spent all there time playing pool even when we went to bed you could still hear them all inclusive is a joke you had to take your empty glass{plastic] to the bar if you wanted another drink just to let them see you were finished before they would serve you another i would not recomend this hotel to anyone i will be going back to turkey next year but not the sun love

get what you pay for !!!

by TripAdvisor Member topholidays

we stayed at the sun love in september 07'

this was an all inclusive deal, however it is not a proper all inclusive but for what we payed we got what we payed for.
the food was ok some nights we hit lucky, chicken rice and chips cant go wrong really, other nights we had to eat out but again for what we payed we didnt mind.
we def got our moneys worth in drinks, again they havnt got a huge range but if you drink vodka, wine ,lager , gin and rum then you will be cool.
the all inclusive stops at 12 midday on your last day no matter what time your flight is so bare this in mind and stock up ha!
the hotel itself is spotless cant fault it at all, brand new pool and rooms were very clean small but perfectly formed plenty of sockets and hair dryer in the bathroom, sky tv air con and mini bar which is empty but it is switched on so we used ours as a mini fridge for water.
the balcony's are great all overlooking the pool,at night if you shut the door found it blocked out the bar music however i was on the other side to the bar so cany comment if your right above it.
if your female and young and single you will be treated like a queen ha!

if you want a good clean cheap base for your holiday then this is great for you,if you want a 100% real all inclusive like you get in spain then give it a miss..

the walk to marmaris takes around 15 mins there is a bus and a cab is not expensive.
the road is busy during the day but not a night. (you have to cross a main dual carrageway to get into town and to the beach)

drinks in the all inc are

vodka
raki
wine
tuborg lager
juicy and cola etc
water

breakfast is cornflakes fruit eggs and bread
lunch is basic something with chips rice and pasta
dinner is either beef or chicken with rice and chips
all with salad

all in all the hotel was fine for what we payed all inclusive you can make the best of,drinks were great, rep was great (right holidays)
would not return to marmaris ever but not because of the sun love, that was the best bit
happy holidays...

A total Shambles!!!

by TripAdvisor Member Kat1982

We have just come back from 7 days all inclusive at the Sun Love in Marmaris.
On arrival at the hotel, which is on a really busy main road (which we did know at the time of booking) we were greeted by the most unorganised reception i have ever seen. we had been travelling through the night to find that there was a massive mix up with the rooms, so we had to wait in reception with no drinks for 2 hours until they sorted out our problem. we finally got shown to our rooms after much stressing out, to be told we didnt have a key, so we had to go to reception at midday to get a key. we had heard another couple who had just got there room, and in walked another couple.. total balls up all round on receptions behalf.

Anyway, the rooms were of a decent size, with a bath/shower, 2 balconys, hair dryer, tv etc. only down side was the bath leaked, so everytime you had a shower, you had a flooded bathroom floor. Also wires hanging out of plugs not been screwed in properly. Beds comfy and was cleaned every day though.

The All inclusive programme was a joke. It took ages to get served at the bar. They seemed to only be interested in people who were paying and seemed to serve the men before the women regardless of how long you had been waiting. When you did get the drinks they were very watered down. You could easily drink 7 vodkas and not even feel drunk. Also you werent allowed more than one drink at a time, i mean, i understand people can get silly, but when you did order more, they were taken off your table and poured away. You also had to take your glass back before they would give you another drink.

The food was not too bad, just a very bad selection. If you like chicken, you will be ok!! some of it was pretty inedible, and the breakfast wasnt even worth getting up for. watery scrambled eggs, french bread, beans that tasted of garlic, and boiled eggs that were either too hard or too soft. Lunch was chips and pasta and salads but you were never sure what was in the them!! Dinner was more or less the same as lunch. If you like chips youre fine!!

The staff at the whole hotel.. well I have never met such a group of rude people. Not everyone mind, the chef who served at dinner was nice and the guy who took the pictures was friendly too. there seemed to be lots of staff, but no one serving.

The whole place needs a total management update!! it would be a lovely place if it was properly looked after and had a few more (willing) staff!!

Marmaris as a resort was lovely and i would go back, but i wouldnt ever stay at this hotel again!!!

Watch out for add ons!!!

by TripAdvisor Member PaulKateCornwall

On arriving at this hotel at the hottest part of the day we were told that our air conditioning system would only be turned on if we coughed up 20 pounds a week (non-refundable). This is on top of the money required to receive a safe key (20 pounds) which is also non-refunable.

After checking in we went straight to the local shop to get some big bottles of water. The heat was making us really thirsty, and we thought it would be safer to use bottled water when brushing our teeth. We when got back to reception, the receptionist told us off and said we were not to bring any food or drink that was bought outside the hotel in with us! We were allowed to buy their expensive bottles of water from the bar though! In the end we just smuggled it in!!!

By the fourth day I noticed that although the cleaner was changing the sheets and leaving clean towels, the bathroom floor wasn't being cleaned and any empty bottles were not being taken. A tip envelope had been placed in the room, and as yet we had not put any money in it. I decided to put a few lira in the envelope to see if she was expecting extra money to do a more thorough clean, and when we returned she had done an elaborate bed arrangement taken all the bottles and cleaned the floor!

We had paid for bed and breakfast, but the food was so inedible that we ended up having to eat breakfast out of the hotel on several occasions. The scrambled eggs were watery, the beans were cold and the tinned sausage things looked grim! There wasn't even a toaster!

We also noticed that the all inclusive people were getting smaller plasitc cups from the bar, and there seemed to be a lot of complaints regarding the different treatment that was given to paying customers.

On the whole this hotel seemed to want to leech money out of people at every given opportunity. For this reason we will never stay again.

loved it!!!

by TripAdvisor Member lovedsunlove

ive been to marmaris 3 times before,so when we pulled up to sunlove i thought we was right on the edge of town, pulling up, you do not get a good impression of the hotel but once you get inside it is absolutely FANTASTIC!!
its a nice 10 min walk to the centre/beachfront but who doesnt wanna take a walk on a lovely evening? these people who moan about a short walk and getting a taxi are just lazy!
the food is abit repetetive but if you pay what we did...about £400 for 2 weeks AI its a bloody bargain and u will not go hungry, plus if you were a chef id like you to come up with a different menu 4 every day of the season!
drinks are NOT watered down, we saw barrells being replaced and bottles of vodka being opened as we spet alot of time at the bar!
staff are excellent, byram, ebo, brian, rambo, harkan just to name a few, receptionist is brilliant too and so polite bless him!
the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are more than willing to help, if u are nice to them they are nice to you!
i have no complaints at all about sunlove and will defo go back, i just hope all the moaners stop ruining it for the rest of us and if they want to be waited on hand and foot then they should stop being so tight and pay abit more
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!

great holiday from a rocky start...

by TripAdvisor Member xrockachicx

We stayed at this hotel in august 07. When we got there (in the middle of the night) we were told they had overbooked and there was no room for us or the 5 other couples.they opened the bar and we got one free drink before the barman went to bed and we all spent the night sleeping on sun loungers...The next day we were told the hotel had only just recieved our reservation and that they still did not have a room for us. We were given a basement room for that night and promised our room the next day. Me being me kicked up a fuss with the manager, refusing to put up with this treatment. In compensation we were given a free bottle of wine, and 2 free excursions. After this rocky start we started enjoying ourselves more. the staff were really friendly although it sometimes took a while to get served at the bar. ebo was by far the best member of staff.. and of course brian. we had lots of good chat with the staff there and it turned out to be a great holiday. The only dissapointment was the food. Though the boys loved the meatballs they had almost every night...the variety of food was not that great and the desserts were a bit odd. The most annoying part of the holiday was a jack sparrow -looky likey photographer constantly trying to take everyones picture.. get rid of him and the hotel environment would be much nicer!! Marrmaris itself is only a short walk away and there are lots of nice places to eat and drink there. our favourite was Rock Bar in the town.If you have a chance you should go, staff are very friendly and they do table service! yes they bring the fishbowls to you! =). Overall really enjoyable holiday.

Hi

I'm staying in the Sun Love Hotel in May - its a relatively new hotel - has anyone stayed there?

Also, are there any areas in Marmaris which you would recommend tourists to avoid.

Many thanks

Re: sun love hotel

Hi Lyn

Our holiday to Sun Love Hotel was moved until beginning of June, so, just back. Nice hotel, very clean, etc., 5 min taxi into centre of marmaris will cost approx. 8 lire.

Downside: There is a small notice in reception which tells you are not allowed to bring any food or drinks (even water) into the hotel - very surprised to have my shopping bags searched and have a small bottle of water and packet of crisps confiscated...or i could sit on the steps outside the hotel and consume them.

I would say the hotel was full to less than half capacity which reflected in the buffet selection and lack of choice.

I think this will change going in to peak season.

If you are flying into Dalaman, it will take around 90mins transfer time but the drivers have a compulsory break half way for 15/20 mins at road cafe which if you're travelling to the hotel early morning can be pain.

Having said all of this we have had a great time.......
