Marmaris To Antalya

by Perkyco

I will be leading a small group of myself and 3 ladyfriends from Marmaris harbor to Antalya. Since our expected arrival and departure from Marmaris is November 1 and that seems to be the start for the winter season, I would like info about what bus lines make that trip, what the anticipated price will be, how long that trip should take and any other relevant info. Is it true that there are several companies to choose from? Is this just a walk-up and climb on situation? I have previously used the buses in Turkey but it was 14 years ago and not sure if things are the same.

Buses haven't changed much, just newer buses, when you arrive go to major bus company office and reserve a seat for whatever time bus, maybe less that time of year.Guessing cost will be not more than 50Ytl.
Metro,Pamukkale,Kamil Koc,Ulusoy,Varan are some of the bigger companies, look at my Kalkan page for some of their web sites.
Around 6 hours.

Travel Tips for Marmaris

Fishing with "A catch guaranteed or your money back" = Well it could only be done in Turkey = sounded too good to be true! I have to say what a knowlegable captain and help from his first mate were the FINDING NEMO BOAT CREW! We went initially on a 3 hours fishing trip cost about £ 25 each fisher was half price for the Non Fishers - this included rod, bait and the obligatory Fishing Licence. What a great time we had! The boat was comfortable with sun and shaded areas and plenty of choice of drinks, they had a toilet and had all the correct legal stuff Insy=urances, safety licences etc. We all caught loads of fish thanks to the explanation how to Fish in Turkey 2 of us hadnt fished before = everyone is hooked literally now = so much so we booked for the Full day private Trip the next week!
The full day we combined with snorkeling and fishig the captain taking us to some greats spots for both, we snorkeled in a cave and over some ship wrecks and we fished in some beautiful loaction in middle of the bay at about 38meters and aslo in the shollows, catching a wide variety of species. Captian Nemo cooked the Red snapper we caught and served it to us in a lovely quiet bay with no other boats about = Bliss. His food was to die for = nice to have real Turksih food too! We did some sightseeing and had the boat all to ourselves, it really was the best Day of our Holiday! No need to bring your own gear, Fishing rods are included in the Fishing Trip price but you are welcome to bring your own too!
Take suncream if your out in the sun.
No need to bring any drink they had loads of choice both hot and cold on board at reasonable prices.

Marmaris beach

by Diana75

Marmaris beach is not very wide and is covered with sun beds and umbrellas which can be rented for a usual fee of USD 1-.

It may not be the perfect beach, but the sea water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming.

"Why We Came to Marmaris"

Through a Turkish-American tourist agency, we had planned a 3-week individualized vacation in Turkey. One week was to be in Southern Turkey and Syria but that segment lost its other sightseers. A gulet cruise was suggested for that week. Although elderly, we tried it. The itinerary out of Marmaris sounded most interesting to us and it was compatible with our other travels. We had read about the ecological preservation of Turtle Beach and although the turtles were not there, we were happy to see it on our cruise. We will write particulars on the cruise.
