Chill, you will love it.
The Turkish people are very friendly.
Don't worry about your hotel, it will be clean and tidy.
Treat your hotel as a changing room with beds, because you will not be spending a lot of time in there.
Relax and enjoy.

What's it like? Marmaris is beautiful beyond belief. Are the Turkish people nice? Is the Pope cathlic? I just got back from Marmaris yesterday and I can tell you the Turks are lovely people - very friendly. Sure, they're after your money, but tourism is a very cometitive industry. In Marmaris local businesses and the local authority are running a campaign called "No Hassle!" This encourages everyone to recognise that tourists are their guests and to treat them as such. We were surprised at this, because on a previous visit to Turkey we got lots of "hassle" and loved every minute of it. So long as you talk to the Turks, smile and say "No thanks, maybe tomorrow", they are without exception nice, kind and polite. In Turkey you don't get the f**k yous called after you that you get in Gran Canaria!

I've never stayed in that hotel but you have no need to be worried! Marmaris is a fantastic place, I got back last week and it was the first time I've been and I loved it! There is something for everyone there. I'm 20 and I went with a friend but my family go every year with kids aged 9 and 12. You do get hassled to go into bars and restaurants but once you find somewhere you like, you tend to go back. The staff in the bars are lovely and they love kids! You really have nothing to worry about!

marmaris is a fantastic place, i,m going back in two weeks, for the 20th time, twice a year for the last 10 years,as iv'e read in previous replies to your question the people are the best you could ever wish to meet, there is some hassle, but a polite no thankyou is usually enough, tourism is the main employment in marmaris, every bar and restaurant are competing for your custom,a little tip if you are asked to enter a restaurant, ask them if kids eat free, it always worked for us.
a boat trip is a must, find the no limits booking office or walk along the front and look for a boat called the mega diana, orhan the owner will pick you up at your accomodation and take you to his boat, give you breakfast then take you on a great day out all inclusive of lunch as much as you can eat and drink all day, you stop several times for a swim,it,s a real party atmosphere with music and dancing on the boat, all this for £12, half price for kids.
a visit to icmeler is a must, the beach there is lovely.
a good restaurant is pronto steak house and cheers.
have a great time, i,m sure you will love it

Here and there in Marmaris - typical views

by WanderingFinn

Just a glimpse to what kind of views are typical when walking around in Marmaris. Streets are mainly clean and well maintained, there are lots of palm trees everywhere. Also flowers.

The surroundings may change - from flat houses and hotels and beach resorts to an urban area with block houses and shops.

Very typical are, naturally in a muslim country, numerous beautiful mosques with their minarets from which you can here the prayer calls.

The statues of Atatürk (whole name Mustafa Kemal Atatürk) can be seen in many places. He is the hero of many of the Turkish people. He was an army officer, revolutionary statesman, and founder of the Republic of Turkey as well as its first President.

"I will never forget it"

I can recommend to everyone to visit this small, but wonderfull place. The most important for most of us is that that everything is unbeliveable cheap. And Turkish people will make you feel great . In every way :)
