by anniem20

hi can anyone tell me if there is a overnight bus from bodrum to gerome if so what time it goes and how much it is also any one know of or stayed at the local cave hotel in gerome

Re: bus from bodrum

there are few companies that bus people between Bodrum and Goreme. It changes from season to season.

You may have to buy ticket while you get there. That is what we did. We had no problem at all buying ticket 2 days ahead of our trip.

If I remember correctly we paid about 50 Turkish Liras for one way ticket. It was superb bus, and really smooth riding through the night, not tiering at all.

See my Goreme tips for details.

Travel Tips for Goreme

Erosion

by solopes

The landscape in Cappadocia is astonishing. Goreme is the most remarkable site. But what hits us more is the sensation of incapacity face to nature - the Turks know that they have a gem there, they try to preserve it, but erosion seems unbeatable, destroying inch by inch what men created. That enhances the sensation felt in place - we are watching a marvel from the past, with... no future!

Goreme Village

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Göreme is located in Cappadocia, a historical region of Turkey. Now it is in the Nevºehir Province in Central Anatolia. It is well-known because of its "fairy chimney" rock formations.
People of Göreme, at the heart of the Cappadocia Region, realized that these soft rocks could be easily carved out to form houses, churches, monasteries.

There are also many rock-cut churches in and around the site of the township named Göreme today (situated 1.5 kilometers from the museum site). This was originally settled as a Turkish farming village and the oldest mosque there is dated 1686.

People still live in the rock houses or use them as storerooms today, displaying an immense reverence for this volcanic earth and history. The village of Göreme does not only have rock houses, but also rock restaurants and rock hotels which all visitors find amazing.

Hiking around Göreme

by MalenaN

There are many nice valleys around Göreme to explore by foot, valleys like Pigeon Valley, Honey Valley, Rose Valley and Love Valley. You can walk by yourself or with a guide, alone or in a group. Several pensions and tour agencies organises walking tours.

Topada Luwi inscriptions

by FAIRYCHIMNEY

Acigöl is one of the 'volcanic' areas in Cappadocia , but as the district is very out of touristic sight not commonly visited. There are few crates lakes and mineral water sources.Briefly this area appeals to for those who are into earlier settlements of Anatolia. When you arrive to Acigöl you need to follow the signs down to Topada village.Road will take to the huge rock formations that partly collapsed and one single rock with luwi incriptions on very remarkable.
