Göreme landscape
In Göreme you can see a very special sort of landscape, I could never see anywhere else.
The rocks of this landscape are so very soft, that houses are builded into the rocks The landscape looks like on the moon, a bit.

Me & Jonathan were innocently having a couple of Efes at Fatboys in Goreme when Jonathan got all excited because someone wearing a VT t-shirt walked passed! We got so excited we forgot to actually say anything and VT-tee had gone before we could blink.
So come on - own up! Who are you?! ;o)
Hey that's cool Faye...why don't you post in the Misc. Forum too where you're more likely to get an answer...
By the way...great homepage and travel pages....

And got a huge response.
Istanbul was fab - I loved it... in fact Turkey was one of the best countries I've visited so far!

While you are trekking through the valleys in Cappadocia, you will come across many local farmers who have set up gardens on small lots of land throughout the region. These people are very friendly, as are most Turks, and usually will wave at you a walk by. I am surprised how friendly these people are as I thought that they would be sick death of seeing us tourists but I guess they know how important we are to the local economy.

uchisar is a few kilometers from goreme and you can either walk there through the pigeon valley (a very sceneic walk that takes a little over an hour) or go there by car.
the town is a real gem with rustic houses and a rock castle sitting right on top of all the houses.
together with goreme the most charming village in cappadoia in my humble opinion.
The green valley makes a nice contrast to the surronding planes and it is a perfect place for a nice walk. You can make it a full day and walk all the way between Selime Monastery to Ihlara village, while you take your time to have a look in all the chuches and stop for lunch at a restaurant by the river.
If you, like me, visit on a daytour from Göreme you will probably make a shorter walk from Ihlara village to Belisirma and only visit one or two churches.
the silk road restaurant is a faily good local restaurant located near the meeting point.
i have eaten there twice and both times the food was fine.
it's a very cosy restaurant with comfy chairs and they have a good varied menu.
the only minus is the waiters who at time behave a bit too much like i would expect a bartender to do after midnight.
they could learn a little there from the meeting point cafe.
apart from that i ahve no complaints at all though.
