Transportation from Goreme to Kayseri or Kayseri Airport

by Brazilianerin

Could someone explain me:

1) what are the transportation options (bus, dolmus, etc.) from Goreme (or any nearby city) to Kayseri?

2) what are the prices and frequencies?

3) Is it easy to get a dolmus or taxi from Kayseri city center to Kayseri airport ?

I will arrive in Goreme by bus and leave from Kayseri airport and I am trying to decide if I should get a rental car at Kayseri airport.

It seems really difficult to find out about transportation costs.

I thank you in advance.

Brazilianerin

Hi, I am looking for the same thing but so far I found this only:

Let me know if you find a bus.

Thanks.

Our transport was organisd by the tour company we used.

Actually, it was a pain because it was picking p/dropping off at other hotels as well as ours. I remember that made me grumpy on the return trip, becuase the flight was 8-9 am and we were picked up about 45 minutes earlier than necessary to allow time for this tour of the local hotels.

Maybe your hotel could help with transport?

Hi,

Follows the answer I was given by DavidBentley, which is very accurate and possibly only available for those who are flying Turkish Airlines:
Cheapest way you can reserve your shuttle airport service from the cappadocia turkish airlines office website below;

www.cappadociaexclusive.com/shuttle.html

- 15 YTL (around USD 10) per person for Urgup.
- 17 YTL (around USD 11) per person for the towns other than Urgup.
I still haven`t contacted them, so I don`t know further details.
I hope that helps.
The cheapest quote I had for a private transfer (from my hotel) for 2 people was 80 YTL.
I hope that helps.
Best regards,

Brazilianerin

Travel Tips for Goreme

cappadocia is wine country too.

by cachaseiro

cappadocia has a large grape production and some of the best turkish wines are made from grapes from cappadocia.
make sure to try some of the local wine when you are in the area.
if you are there in september then it's grape harvest time and grapes can be bought at the market very cheap.
they make a very good snack when hiking.

It feels amazing beeing in the air, looking down. In the air it is peaceful and quiet. Well, not quiet all the time, people speak and there is a noice when the air is heated for the balloon to rise.

Turkey: Galloping through the Cappadoccian Valley

by Prinsalsita

After a superb trek to see the white valley in the morning and after a delicious lunch an a small siesta you will be ready of an exciting horseback riding adventure.

If you are an experience rider you can freely ride -- as fast or as slow as you want. And if you have never ridden, the guide is there to teach you and help you and to take pictures.

The best is to see the sunset in the valleys :) take confortable clothing and good shoes, no need of riding gear.

Ihlara Valley

by MalenaN

Ihlara Valley is a 10 km long gorge, southeast of Aksaray. The valley is full of rock cut churches, but only a dozen of them are open to the public. Several of them have well preserved paintings. It is a green gorge with a stream, Melendiz Suyu, running along it. It is a nice place for trekking.
