Ihlara Village
by ozalp
Actually, every one who visits Ihlara Valley beats that path. But I am sure few of them stops to see the village. If you are in need of a drink, go find a chair in the café (kahve), sit and watch the people passing by.
In small villages, “kahve” has an important place in daily life. People earn their living from agriculture and they have too much spare time in certain times of the year. So, men go to mosques for praying and to kahve for chatting, sitting, playing cards, reading newspapers, etc. Women do not go to kahve, they do house work. You cannot see any local woman sitting in a kahve. But if you are a tourist, you can sit and enjoj the relaxing ambiance of kahve.
This village has a particular view and a nice kahve. If you have time, stop for a Turkish tea or coffee.
Kilicarsalan Tomb
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
At the Hill of Wishes you will find a park where you can relax and admire the view and a medrese (Islamic college) which is now a cafe.
The two tombs on the Temenni Hill are believed to belong to Seljuk Sultan Ruknettin Kilicarslan IV, built by Vecihi Pasha in 1268 and is known as “Kilicarsalan Tomb” by the locals.
You may watch my high resolution photo of Urgup on the Google Earth according to the following coordinates 38° 37' 50.92" N 34° 54' 36.78" E or on my Google Earth Panoramio Kilicarsalan Tomb.
Zelve

This is the second open air museum we’ve visited in our first day. Before this, we stopped by Pasabagi and then a little bit for photographing the wild flowers. It was getting late, so we had a quick and short visit to this museum. Some small paths lead to different cave churches in this museum. We entered a big carved hall in a rock here. Unfortunately, we had to leave before we’ve seen it all, because we were exhausted and it was getting late. But the small paths were going further than we did.
Hospital Monastery
by ozalp
This is one of the most heard monasteries, but I couldn’t see it until my third visit. We read about the monastery at the breakfast and we focused on to reaching it. Turned from its sign, had to leave the car in a distance, walked the rest between wild flowers.
It is an unspoiled spot, a complex. Some parts are collapsed but the firm rooms have a lot to see. Regular wall pictures is something you can see anywhere in Cappadocia, but this place has also a strange unique thing. There is a carved, 3d figure in one of the rooms. It is like a man with opened arms. It is over a corner, standing like it is about to hug somebody. The room which has the carving is one of the rooms on the left when your face is looking to the monasteries decorated doors. Don’t leave the place without seeing it, because there isn't anything similar in whole Cappadocia region.
