I was impressed in Urfa all...

I was impressed in Urfa all the time: it was so beautiful and exotic city. Different than others in Turkey! You should see Abraham's cave with holy water! And just to take a walk through the city... You'll be fascinated! I spent there a great evening. Beside I recommend Harran with its unique houses (they look like big beehive). After that exhausting trip you should swim in a swimming pool in the centre of Urfa.
Harran, the oldest settlement...
by maykal
Harran, the oldest settlement in the world (well, maybe), lies between Sanli Urfa and the Syrian border. There are ruins of a castle, a mosque and an ancient university, but more interesting is the village which has grown on top of these...many of the houses are shaped like beehives. More pictures in the travelogue...
Golbasi - feed the fish!
by suvanki
Local Vendors can be seen sitting around the pool, selling small dishes of what looked like chick peas. These are for feeding the fish!
Although signs around the pool, request that for the fishes health they are not fed, these would appear to be ignored!
I watched as people handed over a few Lira, then witnessed the 'feeding frenzy' as the carp fought for these treats!
Sanliurfa
by MalenaN
Sanliurfa is a large city with more than 800 000 inhabitants in southeastern Turkey. In Turkey it is often called Urfa, as “Sanli” (meaning glorious) was added as recently as the 1980s.
For many Muslims it is a pilgrimage town as Abraham is said to have been born here (not in Ur in today’s Iraq).
It is a nice town to visit with its pleasant parks with old pools of water (Gölbasi), the old bazaar, mosques and citadel. And near to Sanliurfa is the village Harran with its beehive houses of mud.
