More about Turquoise Resort Hotel & Spa
Info for the Turquoise
Just returned today 15th October from Alanya to Glasgow. The flight times with Thomas Cook airlines are pretty dire and returning from any Turkish airport at 02.30hrs after being out of your hotel room from 12.00hrs the previous day is not something I would recommend. Booked extra leg room seats with Thomas Cook airlines but be aware row 31 on the Boeing 757 aircraft has one seat in the emergency exit row sold at a premium of £50 for short haul obstructed by the emergency slide equipment.
The hotel Turquoise was one of the better all inclusive hotels I have visited on my travels. The check in at reception was adequate but I did not find the staff very receptive to excelling in customer service, and more seemed to be if your face fitted and were a nationality other than British you got better service.
The hotel rooms are adequate and have good air conditioning and modern clean bathrooms. The hotel grounds are extensive and very beautiful but try to get a room that doesn't require a packed lunch for the journey to it.
The pool areas were very clean, well kept and safe plus the sun beds issue with the Europeans could be a problem as they always like to stake out their territory whether using the sunbed or not, however the towels are removed by the hotel staff if any beds are reserved and unoccupied before 09.00hrs. There is also a relax pool for over 16yrs only where you can escape the noise disturbance normally found at the normal holiday hotel pools. The animation team were very friendly and did not force people to participate. There was hardly any British presence at the hotel as mainly German speaking and Russian people.
The entertainment in the evenings was better than found at most all inclusive hotels and there were also premium brand spirits and liqueurs at no extra cost. The drinks at the disco were also included and alcohol, coffee etc could be sourced free of charge 24 hours at the reception lobby bar if you felt the need. The fridge in the room is replenished each day with 2 cokes, 2 orange and 2 bottles of water.
Free internet access available in the reception if you want to stay in touch with home or just email.
Most of the bar staff were friendly but can gravitate more to serving those that tip as opposed to those who don't! That said we never had any service that would cause us to be unhappy at any of the bars and the staff were all very friendly, with the exception of some of the reception staff who I perceived that they thought they were a cut above others at times.
Food was excellent and lots of choice at all meals, and the snack bar was also very good. Never a problem finding something to suit any taste I would say from my opinion.
Check out is 12.00hrs and a lond day if your being picked up at midnight for transfer to the airport. Reception wanted 44 Euros to keep the room until 18.00hrs so quite a rip off really. No shower room provided and we were advised the showers in the indoor pool area would be available for use but again this was not the case. After being quite assertive we were give a room that someone had just checked out of, so we could use the shower and freshen up, but this was after a great deal of to and frowing to reception as they didn't care whether you needed to freshen up or not and thought we were being unreasonable expecting such a facility.
Taxis to Side town are 7 euros each way but the local dolmus (taxi) is only 1 euro per person each way. Shop owners as they are everywhere like this, very pushy and lots of fake designer ranges if thats your thing. From experience the T-shirts etc either shrink or fall to pieces but you get what you pay for!
Some of the mini coaches are not that safe in my opinion as there are no seat belts, most of the arms on the aisle seats are broken so you get tossed about. Also we were very nervous as it was quite obvious that the driver was overtired as he was all over the road most of the time and we were very worried on the transfer back to Antalya airport. We used Resort-Hoppa but they were very reliable. A taxi transfer is around 65 Euros each way and takes around 1 hour 10 minutes.
All in all a good holiday hotel with the usual flaws but we enjoyed it more than some of the hotels visited further afield.
Airport security is low so if you have perfumes, water, aerosols etc they don't seem to bother as no-one was being stopped.
The Thomas Cook staff at the airport check in could have been more helpful but seemed more interested in discussing their personal lives rather than looking after customers, and some of them were being quite 'false' to people when saying enjoy your flight as they could then be seen '[--]' behind peoples backs, so not what I would call professional.
Fantastic little gem !
Wow, this hotel is an absolute gem. I was tempted to keep it a secret
from everyone else, but I enjoyed it so much I have to let you know.
We returned back to England a couple of days ago and are already planning our next trip back to the Hotel Turquoise.
The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful as has already been mentioned but the activities are also fantastic. We learned how to scuba dive on site. Everyone is entitled to one free lesson in the pool and then if you want to you can dive in the sea for about Euro 50 per person. I would really recommend this as the instructors are really friendly and helpful. I was a bit scared to begin with, but we didn’t see any sharks !
Its worth taking the dolmus into Side but this will only take you to the bus terminal in Side which is about a kilometre from the town. Don’t be scared when you get there, there are no signs and it looks like a deserted archaeological site, but just follow everyone else and you will be ok-not sure if I would do this at night though. There
is a small train that will take you to the town from the bus terminal
and this was less than 1 euro I think.
The entertainment and staff are first class. The blond water gym man,
Erdem was our favourite and even though he doesn’t speak great English, he was really friendly, kind and made a huge effort to make us laugh. Bert (Joshua) was also great fun and spoke good English. Our waiter (again blond...) was Aiden and even gave us a flower each one night, which was a nice touch.
The nightly shows are fun, but people tend to be a bit rude and leave before the entertainers have taken their final bows and thanked
everyone for coming etc. I think they really appreciate it if you thank them at the end-one night they said they had training from 11-12 pm after working all day and doing a show and then the disco.
Even though I am not a kid, I loved the water slides as did a lot of other adults. The beach is a bit stony but fine with a pair of flip-flops.
Worth visiting the market in Manavgat (Monday and Thurs/Fri) via the dolmus, (Euro 1.5). Brush up on your bartering skills and you can get
some good bargains. Showing a good deal of interest and then walking away from them if you they don’t offer you a good deal tends to help as they sometimes chase you and agree to your price. Be aware these are all fakes though, one lady next to me paid three times the price
I did for the same t-shirt and seemed to think she was getting a great deal.
All in all, you will love your holiday if you book it here. There aren't many English at the hotel but this was never a problem for us and in some respects is a bonus!
already booking to go back in September
Got back on Monday from my first trip to an All Inclusive! Turquoise is amazing, fabulous location, beautiful scenery and very helpful staff... an ideal holiday for just about anyone, you can join in (or not!!!) with loads of different entertainment run by the animation team, or simply relax.
Having been in desperate need to get away from it all for a week, I was pleasently suprised to find our last minute deal could be so perfect... on arrival in the lobby we were presented with a cocktail style drink, then once escorted to our room (in a apartment/bungalow style building, not the main hotel) we found the hotel had supplied us with sandwiches due to our late night arrival. From then it was seven blissfull days relaxing on the jetty above the sea, wandering through the grounds for meals, cake and ice cream (like being a kid again, great!).
There is a massive selection of things to do on sight, with the Spa (turkish bath or Hammam is free of charge - a definate must!), mini golf, table tennis, 3 water slides and free scuba diving lessons on site, water sports available (parasailing and jetskis, etc) relax pool for over 16s only, fishing area off one of the jetties and so much more, you might decide you need to stay another week to recover!! There are also kids clubs available for younger guests, a great way to ensure the kids are having fun while mum and dad relax!
Also great to see was the ways in which the hotel treat the cats on site... anyone having visited Turkey will be aware that underfed, skinny cats are everywhere - not at Turquoise, there are signs requesting that customers don't feed the cats, due to the fact that they are already being looked after! The hotel cats are well fed, and have all injections, etc, supplied by the hotel, and the cats in return wander around, happy as anything to be stroked & tickled by hotel guests!
The only thing not 100% about the holiday was that due to numbers at mealtimes the food in the buffets wasnt always steaming hot, however, everything in the buffets was replaced / refilled regularly (and if you got to it then it was beautifully hot!!) and you also have the option to got to the food 'stands' along the edge of the seating areas outside where there was an additional choice of freshly made, cooked while you wait food (breakfast omletts & crepes & other meals anything from roast chicken to BBQ) - I was more than happy, and the fact that I was visited by a turkish chef during my stay (my stepdad - usually very critical of restaurants, etc) who was over the moon with the food, and had a good couple of hours talking to - or should that be interrogating - the chefs!
I would recommend this hotel to pretty much anyone, and have already started to make plans to go back in September! A fantastic atmosphere, a good mix of people (and nationalities), great service and wonderful scenery - all I would say to the Brits is sharpen your elbows and forget that it's polite to queue - nobiody else sems to have realised this - dont let it rule your meals or hols, there's plenty to go around - and if anything should make you smile it should be the fact that the hotel are aware of some Nationality traits and any towels appearing on sunbeds before 9am are removed!!!!!
Loved It!!!! Everything fantastic, would go back next year.
Just returned from a fantastic holiday, the hotel was very clean, and maintained to a high standard, nothing was too much trouble for you. We needed to move rooms as the air conditioning was only on 1-5pm and we were too hot and they moved us the same day to a room with full time air conditioning, very accomodating. I had a problem with my ear and the information desk arranged to medication to be sent to the hotel, couldnt believe it. And only at a normal prescription price!! The pools being 3 of them were very clean and had many activities going on, never time to get board but if you want the piece and quiet you could go to the adult pool or settle in the gardens or on the beach, felt you were in a different hotel each day!! The food was fantastic, much to choose from and good quality. The drinks flowed very well too, again much to choose from, many spirits and cocktails to try. The staff were so very happy to help you and always got a smile for you. Never a problem to find a sunbed and no towels out before 9am, get changed towels every day and never short of a bar nearby. The evening entertainment was a little trying but it passed an hour by, had an excellent live band twice a week which got lots of us up to dance, We went on 3 organised excursions which were excellent and fun,the guides were brilliant, very informative and spoke excellent english. We cannot really fault the holiday and hope all reading this will feel the same.
June 15-29 2007
London Uk Family Holiday 29,31,18months
Arrived back from the hotel today, The resort was great the hotel was very clean and well maintained.whilst staying in this hotel turkey had extreme weather for June temperature reaching 52oc very hot for a baby!!
We stayed in the main building for just over a week, but due to the air conditioning being turned off at 20.00hrs it played havoc with sleeping so we requested to be moved into the garden apartments which were not as good as the main building but had the bonus of air conditioning 24hrs and with a small baby this was more practical.
Food was great and plentiful, need to try and get there at 7.30 or well after 8pm as 8pm it was like a cattle market pushing and shoving although i must stress this only started to happen the last few days of holiday i can imagine that in school holidays it could become very busy. Drinks were plentiful and bottle water too!!!
Most guests were multi national which was fine for us but others felt that having 20 English was a shame for such a fantastic hotel, but i am sure the secret will not be hidden for long and more English will venture to Turkey.
Entertainers were good for children they really tried to entertain everyone and put a lot of effort into there shows i think they will be doing spam a lot but we will miss that although we only watched Lion King and We Will Rock You. Musty got people involved with water aerobics, and he enjoyed the women and our baby as did Josh!!!
Okay who gave out the towels was besotted by my boy and was very good to us.
Beach was not the greatest and the sand was very dusty more like building sand but the sea was clean and very warm.
I hope whoever visits will enjoy the effort and standards of this hotel as much as us and we will return as we paid alot less than others who booked through tour operators go independently or through teletext.
Amazing value for money
We are a young couple and we chose the Turquoise for our first holiday together and it was the best holiday either of us have ever had!
When we were dropping other people off on the coach ride to the hotel, we were very concerned as they all seemed to be on ugly main roads but the Turquoise is secluded and with virtually no traffic noise except from departure and arrival coaches, but this did not disturb us. The grounds are beautiful, constantly upkept by the hard working groundsmen; the cleaners do an amazing job as do the waiters and bar staff. Tipping a member of the Bar Staff at the start of your hoilday is a good idea too as they will go out of there way to make you happy and serve you quickly.
However, as we are younger than many other guests (18 and 20) we seemed to be treated differently from guests who the waiters presumably thought were more likely to tip. There are three a la carte restaurants and we went to the Turkish and the Italian (The third is fish), service in each one was poor, many people who came in after us were served before us and we were left waiting for a very long time in the Italian. However, this was a minor set back and practically the only thing wrong with the entire holiday!
Rooms are modern and beautiful; the buffet restaurant is amazing, the food is fantastic, you will never go hungry, there is so much to chose from! Crepes, omletes and bagels are made in front of you at breakfast and a varied selection of dishes is made in front of you at lunch and dinner. Breakfast does not cater for the english very much as English are the minority, so we ventured into Side one morning and found a lovely cafe called Soundwaves serving full english breakfast, well worth a trip. Each night the restaurant has a theme such as Italian, Oriental, International, Vienese and the restaurant is decorated to fit the night and the food reflects the theme.
Although there are not many English in the hotel this is not a problem. Most of the guests are German, Belgian and French with some Russian but despite the Germans reputation for notorious buffet manners we did not really have any problems with anyone!
The Sauna, Hamamm and steam room are all free and nice to relax in after a day of sunbathing. The adult pool is a great place to relax and one of the cleanest pools (beware of ear infections in the big pool!) The short pier is a great place to sunbathe as the breeze keeps you cool. The big pier is good to go too at about 5.45am for sunrise and 10.30pm to watch the fireworks from the mosques after the last prayers of the day. Also there are hundreds of small fish in the sea that we fed with bread on a morning at the end of the big pier. At the end of the big pier there is a section of fishing benches and you can buy rods from the hotel shop, the catches are not massive but many people caught small fish (be careful of the spiny fish they are poisonous and can shoot spines into your hands).
The Animation team do there best to keep guests amused and active throughout the day, and they have organised activites stretching from 9.30am to 4.30pm, ranging from water areobics to archery. On a night they put on various shows in the Ampitheater which seemed very popular although we did not attend any.
We could go on and on telling you about everything but basically its a brilliant hotel, as all the other reviews have said and if you are thinking of going, book it you will not be dissapointed!
Fantastic complex for all ages
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. We have been to Turkey four times now to all-inclusive hotels and so far had a great time but there has always been something not making it 100%, this hotel gets 100% for everything from food, drinks, staff, location, and entertainment. The rooms were cleaned everyday fresh sheets and towels, clean beach towels everyday, no silly wrist bands just a credit type card that was only used to swipe for your beach towels. The spirit drinks were very strong not watered down as in previous hotels weve stayed at, excellent friendly staff that couldnt do enough for you, always cleaning and clearing tables, the whole place was spotless, toilets also with disposable toilet seat covers. What made it for us and our daughter (aged 11 ) was the annimation team who worked so hard morning noon and night, they wernt pushy if you didnt want to join in you didnt have to they left you alone but they were fantastic with the kids and put on some excellent shows eg.. The Lion King & Mama Mia. Full credit to this hotel ten out of ten, cant wait to go back
Just returned from a weeks holiday at this resort and what a lovely time we had. There were not many brits staying, the hotel mostly caters for germans, as the kiddy clubs were in german and the staff always addressed us firstly in german. We tend to keep ourselves to ourselves so this did not bother us. We had two children aged 2 and 7 and the pools with the slides and baby pools entertained them. The hotel sits right on the beach and the it was clean and not overcrowded. There is a pier which you can walk out on and feed the fish. My only complaint is there was not enough going on in the evening but as we had a young family we did not stay up late in the evening.
All I can say is more brits should go to this hotel as it is really lovely, the staff are lovely and so hardworking. The food is great and such variety.
Loved every minute
A beautiful place, a lovely hotel, great staff, very nice beach. I loved every minute of this holiday and would go back like a shot. The food was beautiful, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the place is spotless. Unlike most all inclusive places, the staff are constantly working hard to keep the place clean and because of this, the guests really do respect the place. Not many Brits at all, we met about 5-6 others there (which is prob a good thing) but we keep ourselves to ourselves and this did not bother us one bit. I cannot even think of one think that I could moan about here. Quite simply, the best holiday we have ever had.
I spent sometime looking for a good hotel and based on reviews here and on holidaytruth.com I went of this hotel. I can honestly say this was the best hotel I have stayed in!!. We have always shyed away from all inclusive as I had assumed the food and drinks would be naff....I could not have been so wrong. The hotel was on 30% full so that meant, no queueing for food, drinks or sunbeds. What impressed us was how clean the hotel was and how friendly the staff were. The food was varied and very good quality. Drinks were local brands but all were fine with us. The children enjoyed cocktails and soft drinks, my wife loved the cakes. We were very lucky as the weather was superb but i really struggle to fault this hotel. Obviously I am not sure what it would be like in mid summer but this the place is very good quality, great location (right on the beach) and very friendly. We only went to side (see-day) one day to do a bit of shopping and found it to 'in your face' - friendly but not set up for browsers like my wife and daughter. Finally remeber this is really a German location so although great for us as we like to do our own thing, it may not be for you if you like to mix with just UK people. Personally there was nothing more rewarding than beating the germans at 5 a side football, darts and shuttle board.....happy days.
Big recommendation from this family.
