Ordinary Accomodation ....

Just a decent Hotel, dont expect too much ... Hotel facing the Sea, the so called Corniche, pedestrian walk on the sea side ... As temperature is all the year long so hot on day time, people just go out to walk and entertain as sun goes down ....

Has a small Lobby, but large rooms, large bed, clean standart bathroom, request to have a room facing the seaside / Corniche to have to the view of the sun down ...

Hotel night club is VERY crowded, especially on weekends and VERY loud music till late ca. 3am, so in case u r an early sleeper, must have a very high floor room in order to be able to sleep, otherwise u gonna just zap tv to wait the night club closing time .. :)

Breakfast is so so, not amazing but also not bad, as said, dont expect too much ...

If u r on a business trip and looking for a place just to accomodate, its ok ...

Gifts from Abu Dhabi

by gloria16

Going to Abu Dhabi and I'm looking for suggestions as to what gifts we should bring?

Re: Gifts from Abu Dhabi

by 37SingleMaleInDubai1

Well here are some suggestions:
The Seven Sands of the UAE, traditional Bedouin jewellery, sand art, packaged dates and date products, Arabic sweets, wooden crafts, oil perfumes and palm leaf handicrafts. All can be found in sho[[ing malls.

Re: Gifts from Abu Dhabi

Thank you. I assume it's not a problem to bring the date products into the US as long as they package appropriately.

Re: Gifts from Abu Dhabi

by 37SingleMaleInDubai1

Well, I think there would not be a problem. However, you would be safer if you check it out with customs section of the airport (in US) you plan to return to.
Good luck.

I have taken dates thru the USA a couple of times with no problem.

You could also buy traditional items such as Arabic coffee pots, khanja (curved knife) and jewellery.

Camel racing

by amna24

Camel racing remains a major activity in Abu Dhabi and provides visitors with a unique opportunity to see this ancient - and highly competitive - sport at close quarters. Races are held on Thursday and Friday mornings during the winter months at the Al Maqam Camel Racetrack, just 45km outside Abu Dhabi, and at Al Ain Camel Racetrack, with additional races often held on public holidays.

Besides watching camel racing, visitors to Abu Dhabi can also enjoy the memorable experience of riding the 'ship of the desert' at certain heritage sites and on the desert safaris organised by Abu Dhabi's tour companies.

Abu Dhabi International Airport

by Ewingjr98

Abu Dhabi Airport is the world's fastest growing airport, primarily because it is the hub of Etihad Airways, the world's fastest growing airline. The airport is currently undergoing some $6B worth of construction in order to expand the capacity to handle about 12 million passengers per year.

The airport has a great duty free area with numerous shops selling everything from luxury goods to candy. Upstairs from the duty free shops you will find several restaurants including an English pub.

Good Persian (Iranian) Food

by johnfrompalatineil about Hatam

I wanted to try to taste safe, local cuisine and happened upon Hatam Restaurant located on the third floor of Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi. A quick peak at the menu showed that this restaurant was reasonably priced.

I was pleased to see mostly locals in the restaurant but felt a little bare having gone in with khaki shorts and sandals. Nobody said anything and I don't think anyone had a problem with it but I regretted that I didn't have long pants on. However, I didn't let this ruin my meal which was memorable. The fresh, hot pita with hummous was fantastic. I had a stew dish that contained lamb and it was fantastic. Proportions were good and the service was outstanding.
