An easy family vacation

Staying in Beach Rotana in March 2007 with wife and 3-year old kid. Looking for relaxing holiday, luxurious pampering and good time.

Baech Rotana was all of them. A beautiful garden in a beach, excellent restaurants and huge mall in a next door. A former night club L.A.B. is under construction, there will be a new spa very soon.

Unique Quality: Be aware of Beach Wing, there's large construction work just started next to it. Book a room from Tower Wing.

Excellent Luxury Hotel in Abu Dhabi

Part of the UAE-based Rotana hotel chain, the Abu Dhabi hotel is possibly their most luxurious. The hotel has its own private beach and an excellent health club, offering a gym, huge outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and pool bar! All in all, this hotel is fantastic - you will not want to leave.

Furthermore, the hotel is attached to the Abu Dhabi Mall, one of the city's best. During the hot months, it is most convenient as it allows you to avoid being outdoors! This is where I stay whenever I visit Abu Dhabi.

OK for a week

Went to Beach Rotana for a quick week in June. We usually go to Dubai but for a change thought we would give Abu Dhabi a go.
Hotel was in good condition and the rooms had been refurbished. We stayed in the main hotel block, the rooms were OK with reasonable furniture and all have a sea view. The bathrooms are quite small with no natural light. Overall the room tended to also lack natural light as the balcony and patio doors are in the corner.
We were on B&B although many other guests had gone on a half board or full board option. The breakfast buffet is fairly good with a reasonable choice but we've had better.
We ate in most of the restaurants, Benihana, Trader Vics and a very good steak house. We also ate twice at the main buffet style evening however this was a bit samey and twice was enough.
This hotel is fine for a quick week, although it is also used a lot by business people. In comparison to many other 5 star hotels it does not quite reach the standard however it is a good price.
Overall service was acceptable

Unique Quality: Excellent gym with fairly new equipment although there were not enough free weights.
Swimming pool was large and clean
The hotel is adjoined to the biggest shopping mall in the city which was very convenient
Private beach but very small and not ideally located.

Beach Rotana Hotel And Towers

One of the best hotels I ever stayed at! Great room, great view, excellent service! Breakfast... ummm... I guess this kind of breakfast is served in paradise! Nice beach with green grass. Huge pool with a bar attached. Tennis courts, sauna, massage...

Unique Quality: I must note the special shower, which I had never seen in any other hotel. It is placed directly above your head and when you turn it on, it's as if you are standing under the rain... it's so soft and relaxing...

More about Beach Rotana Hotel And Towers

Simply the best

by TripAdvisor Member Satish7

We stayed at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi in Oct 2005. As soon as we arrived at the aiport we felt like Royalty , The service from the check in desk and the porters was fantastic. We stayed on a bed and breakfast plan which was the best decesion because as we found out the food in all the restaurants around the hotel was so cheap ( about £10.00p for both of us for a three course meal in all the places we tried,INDIA PALACE and the Chinisse restaurant were the best and only 10 mins walking distance,The Manager at the Hotel ASHOK was great he planned all our trips one on a desert safari and also a day trip to Dubai by car no time limit and it cost us about £ 80.00p for 14 hours sight seeing trip to Dubai, Including having tea at the BURG AL ARAB which was spectacular. And we went during Ramadan and not being Muslim we thought we might have problems but on the contarary it turned out great because we would spend the days we didn`t go on any trips we would stay by the beach and swimming pool which were fantastic then because the shopping mall is connected to the hotel would go for a meal and then shopping. Shops were open till about 1.am in the morning because of Ramadan. We also went to see the EMIRATES PALACE in Abu Dhabi worth the money just to see the size of the place. £10.00p.We will be going back to Abu Dhabi again at the same hotel hopefully next year.

Service with a smile!

We booked the Beach Rotana with some trepidation after reading some negative reviews on tripadvisor - so much so that I emailed the hotel manger to check out some of the complaints before confirming our reservation. We need not have worried. Mr Klein, the Resident Manager answered our concerns promtly and accurately. It is true that the standard rooms are short of space (I have never seen so little room for storage) but they are spotlessly clean, well equipped and we had a totally undisturbed 6 nights. There is some minor improvement work currently going on in the garden but it involves no mechanical equipment, so no noise. However, my real reason for recommending this hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They are well-trained, courteous and ever-smiling. We were particularly pleased with the help we received fron Amir and Mahmood on the Concierge Desk who arranged an excellent driver to take us to Dubai for the day (his name is Abdullah and speaks good English).
Eating in the hotel was a pleasure and very reasonable by UK standards. We particularly rated a cocktail in Trader Vics followed by dinner at Finz or Pregos. If you like beer then the Brauhaus has an excellent selection of good German brews. Enjoy it!

MMM and not in a good way

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just left after a one nighter on business - very average and small room probably as I checked in very late.

Food - generally good here, nice buffet breakfast with bacon (mmmm in good way) and another very tasty and varied lunch buffet.

Surroundings - pretty glitzy and Abu Dhabi really but just not outstanding in any way.

Pool area - nice but broken crappy plastic loungers not really 5* is it. But too many brit holidaymakers in various stages of red for my liking.

Worst point - finished my meeting earlty and was looking forward to a few hrs in the sun before coming home only to find all the pool area in shade of building from 3 o'clock onwards.

Summary - just not great really and used to far better in middle east

Very pleasant stay

I read a review that was not very good about this hotel and sometimes I really think luck has a lot to do with it. My husband, two children and I were exceptionally lucky and had an excellent receptionist check us in, she went out of her way to find us the best offers, and she really came up trumps. The deal we had charged for one child in the spacious room, both had proper beds and we received the charge for the child as a credit to use within the complex each day. We received massive discounts for the resturants for us and especially for the children. All the staff were very polite and attentive apart from a couple of the reception staff, who were a bit abrupt and unhelpful.
On the whole we enjoyed our stay there. We have been traveling to the UAE for ten years now and for the price at the Rotana, I beleive is very good value and should not be compared to more upmarket hotels as in Dubai or the Emirates Palace for example, as it is different and I would return.

Beach Rotana Hotel or The Intercontinental

by Maxi23

I'm undecided between the 2 hotels I know the Rotana is very central for shopping etc but the Intercontinental has a nicer beach. Which has the better atmosphere, restaurants, rooms etc?

I also have another question;
Does anyone know how much a taxi costs from Dubai airport to Abu Dhabi? I know there's a bus which is very cheap but we would prefer a taxi especially after the long plane journey.

Thanks

Well I dont know the answer to the first part of your question. The cost of Taxi from Dubai Airport to AbuDhabi would be probably somewhere between 250 to 300 AED's depending where exactly you want to get off. Take care.

Re: Beach Rotana Hotel or The Intercontinental

by Rammy

was at the Intercontinental in August.
The hotel public rooms were great.
Our bedroom needed a refurbishment.
Pool nothing special but OK
Beach was superb
If you like fish it's worth going to the ntercont just for their Fish Market restaurant by the beach.

Don't know about the rotana but it looks nice in the brochures.

Re: Beach Rotana Hotel or The Intercontinental

I think Rotan will be better because it is newer than Intercontinental. Note that there is too buildings one is newer than the other, which is the tower. Also it is adjacent to Abu Dhabi Mall. The taxi from Dubai Airport to Abu Dhabi is around 300 Dhs. Have a nice and safe trip.
