Jacket
by zuyao
Be sure to bring along a jacket and some warm clothing if you are visiting around Jan/Feb. Weather is quite cool - day time temp >20degC with the night temp coming down to 16degC. Wouldn't feel that cold except that the wind is really strong and chilling. Bring along a cap too... coz it's quite sunny in the day time. Some lip balm or moisturizer would be good. Weather is really dry here.
Futaisi Island
by amna24
The Island is certainly unique and is an interest to both tourists and scientists alike.
The well-kept stables house purebred Arabian Horses that are available for touring around the island. Children and adults who have never ridden before, but who would like to discover the pleasure of riding an Arabian horse or a camel can also be taken for rides.
Covering an area of around 50 Sq Kilometers, only a small area has been developed. The rest of the Island remains quiet and undisturbed, creating a very effective wildlife sanctuary.
Discover the Island on Bicycles or take a mini-bus tour around the Island to see Gazelles running free, Ospreys nesting on outbreaks of rocks and Hidden Lagoons in the mangroves. As you explore the Island you will soon start to spot an abundance of Gazelles running and jumping across the flats or in and out of the mangrove clusters. This particular variety is endemic to the Island and is left to breed in peace.
Another major attraction on the Island is an authentic Arabian fort built out of traditional materials such as mud bricks. The fort provides a unique setting for banquets and parties.
The true treasure of Futaisi Island is its untouched nature. As the entire sea area around the Island is very shallow, boat access is difficult and this has ensured that most of the Island remains quiet and undisturbed, creating a very effective wildlife sanctuary over the greater part of the island.
TAXI TO GO EVERYWHERE
by loira
Taxi is very cheap so you can go everywhere, but sometimes taxi drivers don't understand english so they just drive and don't go where you want....they drive as lunatics as well as all the drivers in town.
As a pedestrian watch them cause they don't care about you!!!!
Elegant Desserts
by johnfrompalatineil about Le Café & Caviar Bar
Nestled between the restaurants and bars of the Emirates Palace is a very nice place to relax and listen to live music performed on the piano or other classical instruments. I wanted to relax and enjoy the music so sat down and ordered Green Tea. The Green Tea was served in a beautiful steel tea pot. I was surprised when the server served me some chocolates and pastries. I didn't recognize the pastry and tasted it, ummm.... heaven. The white pastry was very light and sweet. I felt a bit foolish when I asked the server what it was and that I had to bring some home to the lovely misses and the server informed me that it was a macaroon. It was the best macaroon I ever have had! Macaroon and green tea. The macaroon melted in your mouth. The green tea energized you.
