NCC Shuweihat Village: Camp in Ruwais
The NCC Shuweihat Village is some kind of hostel run by the National Catering Company. Out in the desert near Jebel Dhana, this 'camp' has all basic amenities like restaurant, gym, tennis court and swimming pool. It is located on the road just before the Dalma Jetty.
I was put up here by my company because it's near my work place. The surroundings are not too bad. There seems to be some people who have resided permanently here too.

Khalidia Palace Hotel (Corniche Road Abu Dhabi 401: Khalidia...
We spent 2 wonderful days in that marvelous hotel by the best beach in Abu Dhabi. Great room service and nice decorations. Light breeze at night and the smooth sound of the ocean... Some say it is old but it looked fine to me!

Park Inn Hotel, Yas Island: Airport accomm?
I had 16 hours to kill between flights in Abu Dhabi, arriving early morning and departing late evening on the same day. I had a look on the web to try to find a hotel room for a few hours.
The best deal I was offered was at The Park Inn as Yas Island. This is 3 star accomm and I was offered room only for 400 UAE plus taxes. I managed to negotiate a 10% corporate discount on the proviso that I show my business card when I arrived to check in.
The offered a hotel transfer for 85 UAE but when I asked at the airport, taxis offer a fixed price for 55 UAE.
The hotel is perfectly clean and in a big winner for me, there is a free internet access in every room. There is a complimentary courtesy bus providing transfers to downtown Abu Dhabi a few times a day.

Ritz-Carlton, Grand Canal: A very nice hotel
I have just enjoyed a very pleasant 3 day/4 nights at this property. I paid for a Club Room. I did notice any special treatment because of my status as MR Lifetime Platinum. However my room was on the same floor as the Club Lounge (7th Floor) so that was handy. I suppose most people would usually like a view of the pool (and it is a very impressive pool area) but I was pleased to be facing the Grand Mosque which is an impressive sight day and night. It is also worth noting that if you do want to visit the Mosque, and I recommend you do, the hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle and it is best to use that early in the morning to beat the crowds on the tour busses.
The staff were all fantastic, friendly and helpful. The food offerings in Lounge were good, but to be honest I would have preferred a bit more variation day to day with the non-Arabic dishes. The Lounge itself was a good size and very comfortable and has a lovely view of the pool area.
The swimming pool is massive and the service by the pool was very good. Comfortable sun loungers and complimentary bottles of drinking water were provided in ice buckets within minutes of sitting down. Other cooling treats were offered during the day. The pool itself was kept very clean, there seemed to be a person employed full time just to ensure that. There are also loungers on the beach by the roped of swimming area of the canal.
As well as eating in the Lounge I tried the Forge Steak House, the buffet and the Lebanese restaurant. Food in all three was very good as was the service. The crab cake in the Forge was very good.
I definitely plan to return.
Fantasic pool area.

Emirates plaza Hotel: Party!
The rooms are nice, but that's it. No further accomodations like pool etc etc.
Rooms from 250Dhs until 500Dhs.
Discos!!! An Arabic, a Philippine and an African disco. Speciallly for the foreign resident people in Abu Dhabi. open every day! (Until approx 3 a.m.)
It does mean you will not get one silent night during your stay here.
But ... like they say, if you can't beat them...join them.

Hyatt City Gate: Very Good Customer Care
I was there for almost a month on a contract. The most notable feature was the staff. They were invariably friendly and helpful. Think quality cruise line service. The rooms are nice and slightly larger than average. The bathroom is nice with an egg shaped tub and separate shower. The view out of my room was out to the Gulf over some artificial islands with palaces being build on them. The furniture was well kept and attractive. The hotel TV package s good but some channels came and went and I never did get the comedy channel. I saw the last 20minutes of the Super Bowl on an AL-Jazeera sports channel but that and the WNBA were the only American sports I ever saw on the TV. The hotel breakfast buffet came with my room and was good. Your order your main course off the menu but they have all kinds of breads, pastry and cereals put out buffet style. My last few days they switched to more buffet style and you just ordered your eggs and then got the meat, potatoes, baked beans etc on your own. I ordered a room service pizza (mostly because it was the cheapest thing on the menu at $14). It was actually very good. The downside is the hotel is surrounded by the huge convention center and lots of construction so there is not much within walking distance. Taxis are relatively cheap and available so that ameliorated the situation some what but I would have liked to have shops and restaurants we could have walked to. I would have given the hotel 5 stars if it had not been so cut off from everything.
The hotel tilts at 18 degrees half-way up. It is built around a huge core of girders that goes straight up. I note below the price is about average. That is for Abu Dhabi and not hotels in general. The UAE has great hotels but they aren't cheap.
