Hotel between Abu Dhabi and border to KSA
Hello,
I'm driving via UAE from Riyadh to Muscat and have been searching for a hotel between the Saudi border and Abu Dhabi and only found Danat resort which is a bit too expensive.
Can anyone advise of alternative hotels??

Hi,
I stayed at the Danat resort last year and know there is another hotel right beside it but I have no idea what it was called....it was not 5 star so would presume it must be a cheaper option. You could call the Danat ans ask them for the details !

Travel Tips for Abu Dhabi
Try sand skiing at a village scene in Liwa Oasis
Liwa is an oasis area in the Abu Dhabi. It sits right on the edge of the Rub Al Khali (empty quarter), the largest sand desert in the world (ie. there is more sand in this desert than any other). A number of small towns and villages make up the Liwa area. Farms back right up against towering dunes hundreds of meters high. The sand varies in color from golden to red and changes rapidly during sunrise, sunset, and the specific area. There is a substantial palace in the area and a very nice 4 star hotel, the Liwa Oasis Hotel. The highways to and from the city of Abu Dhabi (about 2.5 hours away) are in excellent condition though there is usually construction near Abu Dhabi.
Try to Visit Tal Mer'eb (usually written as Merheb Dune) where the high sand dune slipfaces are used for skiing, biking and four wheel driving.
The area is perfect for dunes safari but very dull in entertainment options.
Local Taxis/ Rent a Car
Taxis moving around abu dhabi will never reach more than 10 dhs.
You can stop a cab at any Bus stop/ Parking on the road side. Note that eventhough taxis will stop if you hail them anywhere on the road, you will get in trouble/ they willg et fined, if they stop anywhere else, but at the appropriate stops.
Shamyat Restaurant
Shamyat is a beautifully decorated and strategically located restaurant. It’s located in the heart of the city, and just a minute from Abu Dhabi magnificent Corniche. Two floors of glass windows reveal leafy latticed ceilings and candlelit nooks. The view out from the inside is just as appealing, and little pools and fountains dot the upstairs dining room. Mixed Grill: A plate full of mixed Middle Eastern grills like kebab, kofta, and rips.
