Sharjah Fish market
by hb_capri
The first thing I noticed abt the market is the freshness of the produce. Its close to the sea and as you watch fishing boats come in with fresh fish live from the ocean.I went on a Friday and the place was packed. There are lots of people who make this a weekly family-thing to do.The market was buzzing with people and had an incredible energy. Its a great place for people watching. The market open only upto 11 AM on fridays.
This place is not for the faint hearted - you can see fish being gutted and chopped up and bloodied gloves.

There is a Ferris wheel at the end of the Corniche. It offers breathtaking views of Sharjah. The charges are AED 20 for an adult (+14) for a 6 min ride. For those of you who are scared of going on the ferris wheel, this one is not that intense! its a very slow ride and you won't feel scared at all

This is a very nice Museum to visit. All display rooms and exhibits try to give an Idea about life in the area prior to the oil boom. There is a room for local currencies including some strange Hair clip looking silver coins!! There are all sorts of currencies Local,British, Indian and Iranians; that were used in the country. Also there are rooms for stamps, musical instruments, Herbal Medicine cosmetics, local dresses and various occupations in the past. All displays are explained in Arabic and English like all other museums
Sharjah

Sharjah is another oil state in the Emirates. It extends to the eastern Arabian Gulf where there is a container port, Khor Fakkan. It is a popular place for people from Gulf states to visit at the week end.
It is less developed than its neighbour Dubai, and cheap accomadation makes it attractive to workers from the Indian sub-continent.
The journey to Khor Fakkan takes a couple of hours from Dubai and about 4 hours from Abu Dhabi. It takes you through the minor Gulf states, and briefly into Oman.
The port there caters for container ships, and the region exports stone for road building to other parts of the Middle East.
Many people imagine the Gulf as being hot and dry, but in the winter months there can be thunder storms and heavy rain that leaves puddles for days.
