Travel Tips for Dubai

Free post cards

by najamrulz

Many of Dubai's leading shopping malls provide you opportunity to use their free post cards. you just need to fill the card, paste the ticket and drop it to the red box outside shopping mall.

There cards of different designs and style are great way of building customer loyalty and relationship.

Quad biking in the desert

by pakistanibrain

To go quad biking you obviously have to go out of the city a bit. Since there are many places around Dubai where you can rent a quad bike and take it into the desert, it is just a short drive from anywhere in Dubai.

The place where I went Quad biking with a couple of friends is located on the Dubai-Hatta Road, around half-way from both cities. We chose to rent the bike from "Al Qudra Motorcycle Rent" which is the first Quad-Bike place on Dubai-Hatta Road if you are coming from Dubai.

The stretch of the Desert that they let you bike in is relatively small compared to other Quad-Bike places around Dubai, but that's actually good if you are a beginner. The rent for a quad bike is 100 Dirhams per bike for half-an-hour and they won't give you any discount even if you go there as a group of people or rent the bike for a longer period of time.

However we managed to negotiate a couple of extra minutes within the 100 Dirhams.

Mercato Mall

by zuyao

This is a small shopping center located in Jumeirah, near the Jumeirah Mosque and next to Spinneys. This Italian-themed mall is a nice place to enjoy a bit of Italian-style architecture. The retail outlet facades, mall architecture and drawings are beautiful. Less crowded and not as high-profile as the other shopping malls. Beautiful place to spend a short evening.

Trendy and Hip Japanese Bar and Lounge

by miso80 about Sho Cho's

It's fall/winter in Dubai, and the perfect place to go to and enjoy the beautiful cool weather, the scent of sea salt under a star filled sky is at Sho Cho's ...Together with some lounge music and great drinks and friendly chit chats, this place has been one of my favorites locales for Thursday and Friday nights for the past few weeks.. Taxis

by Airpunk

Taxis are a cheap alternative to a rental car. Fares are cheaper than in most european countries and really affordable. For example, a drive from the airport to Jumeirah Beach was around 60.00 Dhs (2007), this included the basic fare of 25.00 Dhs and an extra 4.00 Dhs for using the motorway. However, this was the only case when the basic fare was used. I don’t know, if this was because it was very early in the morning or because it was a drive from the airport. Taxis are cream-coloured like in Germany with some coloured spot marking the company which owns the taxi. These companies have a good reputation and friendly, english-speaking drivers - although in one case, the english was horrible and if I say this, it was REALLY horrible. Just keep the infamous Dubai traffic jams in mind an read my tip about traffic in Dubai.
