Te Mahaba Lounge at Dubai International Airport
by AlettaCrofton
I will be spending 8 hours at Dubai Airport waiting for my connecting flight to Cape Town. My travel agent told me that the Mahaba Lounge is very comfortable and that I will be able to relax there, even sleep a little. Is this true? Or should I rather book myself into an airport hotel for the night? I will spend between 12pm and 8am at the airport.

Dubai airport has plenty of shops to amuse me for a few hours but I do not know when they close. Business class lounge is good. ?Mahaba. The problem is checking out and in. You lose time and sleep.

Well I think using Marhaba service is you best choice considering the few hours you have to board the connecting flight. Yes they have comfortable chairs and maybe you can get few hours of sleep and also taking some snack. Its chargable but its worthwhile.
Safe trip and good luck.

Travel Tips for Dubai
Photographing
by zuyao
Do not take a picture of a local Arab (especially a lady) without first asking. Most likely you'll be denied anyway. This is still a Muslim country and some elements of conservatism is still there. It's best the respect the cultural sensitivities.
But if you really have an urge to take a photo of a lady fully covered in their veil, you can do it in the Heritage Village. There are ladies there totally covered (I think they are Indians) who would not mind being photographed.
Quad Bikes!!
by Amisha074
On the road from Dubai to Hatta..there's this little place where you can ride quad bikes over the sand dunes. Fantastic experience! A smaller quad bike (for one) costs about Dhs. 60 an hour and the bigger one is about Dhs. 150. You can also rent them for half an hour.
You can also sand ski here. Sand skiing involves riding something like a snowboard down a sand dune.
pedestrian friendly shopping
by uglyscot about UpTown Mirdif
This shopping centre fulfills most of your needs. There is banking, a book store, clothing stores, kitchen ware, shoeshops, as well as a supermarket [Spinneys]. In other words it is what you would expect in any town centre, except that this is in one confined space in a suburb of Dubai. Groceries at Spinneys as much as you want
TWICE AS NICE.. OR DAFT - DEPENDING ON THE NIGHT
by Siddha3th about DOUBLE DECKER
Just what Dubai needs. ANOTHER hot 'n sticky whore of a boozer. With all the standard fillings like a faux Brit-pub look 'n feel. And 2 floors of packed-to-the-sardines like debauchery. In all fairness to Double Decker, it's thankfully short on pouty frills and such. And when a nice song does manage to leave the DJ's deck, the whole place can pack in quite a decent little frenzied punch.
There are your standard public attention-grabbing theme nights - free champagne for the girls, longest happy hour, etc. And a fantastically good value Friday brunch which can really leave you dozed for whatever follows in the evening.
Guess I've just grown out of these sweaty, floor-pumping joints. Packed to the seams with the usual suspects, out on their standard Friday night crawl. I'd much rather be someplace intimate, with music that can actually strike a chord. But if you like your nights a bit flashy & throbbing and you happen to land up at the right moment, DD could be a lot of fun. Roll the dice on this one.
Hell of a lot of good restaurants in Dubai!!!
by estephan about Little chineese one...
You can find the restaurants / cafes of any type in Dubai.... just name it and here it is....
The hotels provide you a rather good guide books on going out / night life hot spots / eating out or in....
Don't want to go to much in the details....
i have really enjoyed the healthy lebaneese food there, some really good chineese, thai, and iranian meals....
