| | | | |
The Towers were the ideal mid-way holiday between a hotel and self-catering. You could enjoy all the benefits of the Oasis Beach Hotel whilst enjoying the privacy and self sufficiency of the Towers apartments. The apartments themselves are very well equipped and extremely comfortable. You probably want to be on floor 25 or above for the better views and away from traffic noise. Not all apartments have balconies but they're not necessary really. There is a lot of building work going on around the hotel, but that applies to most of Dubai! Accept that it is there, you get used to it very quickly. There are a number of supermarkets nearby where you can get your holiday provisions. We found the one at Dubai Marina the handiest. About £3 (inc tip) each way in a taxi. The front desk will do your shopping for you and deliver it to your room if you prefer, they have tick- box shopping lists, but this will limit your choice. There are 4 resteraunts to choose from in the hotel; Singaporian, Italian, Beach, and a typical hotel style Buffet. They all serve alchohol. There are a nice selection of restaraunts at the Marina, some sell alcohol. And for cheap and cheerful the Malls all have food halls with wide selections of outlets. The closest is Ibn Batuta Mall (£3 taxi), although the grander Emirates Mall is much further in the opposite direction, time of day can mean getting stuck in traffic. There is no alcohol on sale in the Malls. Service at the apartments is second to none. The staff will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The pool at the apartments are quieter and more private. The hotel pool is more typical of a "holiday" pool with pool bar. And then there is the beach. The sea is incredibly warm, and you can get burnt quite quickly being exposed on the beach. A nice time to go is about 1 hour before sunset. Sit in the sea as the sun goes down.
Good Points: Quality of equipment in apartments Staff friendliness Cleanliness Points to note: There is building work around the hotel Use Dubai "beige" taxis but be warned, driving is NOT of European standards! IT IS HOT!

In November 2005, when I transferred work from Saudi Arabia to Dubai, I was temporarily housed at the Oasis Court Hotel Apartments. For almost four months that I have stayed in Oasis, the staff there had been very friendly and helpful, they actually became my friends. The lobby is always dressed according to occasion.
On the groundfloor, there is a huge pool, sauna and gym facilities. There's a daily breakfast buffet from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Oasis cafe on the groundfloor. Service very good EauZone (Chef's Table Excellent-if pricey $225 each) and Nina Restaurants very good. Staff all very friendly primarily from Sri Lanka. Landscaped gardens and access to other Hotels in Resort such as Residence & Spa-more expensive and Arabian Court-cheaper but maybe better? Bedrooms good but not as nice as AlQasr Madinat Resort and Rotisserie Restaurant not as good either.
Lovely Pool area but right next door to Palm Jumeirah. Some years ago all you could see was sea now all you can see are buildings. Kid's Club excellent at no extra charge with many and varied activities-Pony and Camel riding and Arabian Evenings beautifully done

The Pacific hotel is located in Deira downtown. Alot of people come to Dubai and just go straight to Jumeirah and dont see the downtown, which is where the culture is. The hotel is 2 star, and really only recommended for budget travellers, even tough its $80(220d)/night for a double. It very basic and not all that clean, not got aircon, and isnt in the best area.its located right by sabkha bus station which is conveniant.

The hotel is located in the heart of the main electronics and textile market in Diera and only a 15-20 minutes drive from the Dubai International Airport. Guests can conveniently hop on to the Dubai Airport Bus #401 (3AED per pax) from outside the Terminal 1 bldg (turn left after exiting) & be brought right to the doorstep of the hotel in Sabakha Street in 15-20 min. The same bus will bring you back to the airport in 30-40 min the other way (still 3 AED). It is only a few minutes away from many tourist destinations like Deira City Centre, the Twin Towers Mall, the Dubai Creek, the Gold Souk, the Spice Souk and the Dubai Textile Souk. Convenience is definitely a big draw as you need not drag yourself too far from bus to hotel - it's just across the road! (and it's a BIG factor considering I reached the hotel at 3am!) Booked the hotel via Hostelworld. Dubai does have its share of low end hotels but most of them are almost non-contactable. This hotel thus came as sort of a compromise as I was seeking a centrally located budget hotel. My room 303, despite its proximity to the lift (which means plenty of annoying ding-ing for light sleepers) came with a balcony the allows me to feel the vibes of the streets below. The en-suite room (no bath tub; towel provided) was comfortable - clean and orderly and comes with a mini-fridge and a TV....that curiously received only Indian channels! Breakfast is NOT included. The hotel is manned by a joint Philippino-Indian staff. Service is friendly and honest. When asked to use the Internet, the manager directed me elsewhere as the rates were better. The hotel also allow you to deposit your luggage and they do accept credit card payments. The area around the hotel is buzzing with frantic activities till about 1-2 am in the morning. Bargain shops are literally throwing their wares at you with items going at ridiculous low prices though standard of the wares may leave much to be desired.
Soak up the Dubai experience among the many souks around Deira....though please be prepared. Deira is home to many Indians who are either residing or working in Dubai so instead of an Arabic adventure, it felt more like I was in India! The proximity to souks meant easy shopping though looking for variety in food becomes a huge challenge as I ventured far and wide to only find Indian restaurants and kebab stops. I did manage to find an Internet cafe on the top floor of Abraj Centre, just 5 minutes stroll from the Hotel that charges only 3AED for 1 hour. (The Hotel charges 10AED for 1 hour) Leave a Comment
