Dubai Airport T3 to Ibis MOE

by tracyskf

Hi, I saw a similar posting earlier this month. Hoping to get some updates on some specific question:

- Is the T3 metro stop open?
- Would it be easy to get to the Ibis MOE from T3 via metro?
- Any update if luggages are allowed on the metro?
- What is the estimated fare?

Thanks!

The Metro from T3 to MoE is certainly convenient (Geina did it the other day) but the luggage restriction is still in place. Officially maximum size is 81cm x 58cm x 30cm maximum.

a little confused... so it means luggage is allowed now?

'Hand luggage' has always been allowed, but not bigger than the sizes I quoted. I got those dimensions from signs in the Metro trains.

Travel Tips for Dubai

the business district

by call_me_rhia

The business district, and more precisely the buildings on Sheik Zayed road, are a heaven for modern architecture... You can find glittering skyscrapers with character, and the famous emirates towers.

It's an area that's growing... everywhere you can see cranes and new skyscrapers in the making - each more opulent and flashy than the other. Most with helicopter pad... There are parks and gardens, too... and zillions of interesting restaurants. The emirates towers are just so spectacular - even more when viewed from right outside. But what I like best is that it's an area that is changing - and changing fast. On my Dubai return vist, just under 2 years later, it had really altered...

Look out for the arch... doesn't it look like the defense arch in Paris?

Sunscreen A Must

by Cynthia_marie

I brought one large suitcase which was a mistake. I flew Swiss Air and the weight restriction was 20 kgs; mine weighed in at 36 kgs. I paid 100 Euros to get the suitcase on as Excess Baggage. Bring 2 smaller ones; especially if you plan on buying souvenirs. Good walking shoes are a must especially in the malls. City Centre Mall has over 300 stores. A light sweater for the evenings is perfect. Sunscreen Shorts; short sleeve shirts; everyone there wears anything and everything.

Bargain!

by babar_1 about Souks (bazaars), gold souk etc.

In the narrow lanes of the city center you can find every thing at very reasonable cost...but bargaining is the key.

The souks on both sides of the Creek are attractive not just for their shopping bargains but also as places for the sightseer and photographer.

A bit of Cuban Salsa!

by chizz about Malecon

Malecon is a lively Cuban club where a live salsa band plays while you dance. Later on the DJ plays a mix of tunes too. We went on a Friday night which is "Chips Night" - 5 drinks for AED100 - you can choose from 2 different frozen cocktails, tequila, rum, whiskey, gin, vodka and beer. You can order a sit down meal or just a snack too.

Abra, a Short Cruise at Dubai Creek

by Rinjani

It’s quite exciting to step into Abra. Enjoying the breeze wind touch your face and looking to the high rise building surrounds the creek, while slowly you cruise to cross the creek.

Abra, a medium sized ship with motor boat engine, can accommodate around 10 people. If you fancy to enjoy five minute crossing, you can take Abra from Baniyas street (Deira) to Creek (Bur Dubai) and vice versa. The cost is less than one dirham per person. Worth to try!
