This is a good five star hotel conveniently located in the center of the city on Al Muraqqabat Street. Very short distance from City Center. They serve decent breakfast, though the menu is the same and can become easily boring. The hotel has a temperature controlled swimming pool, and jacuzzi on the rooftop, which provides a spectacular view of the city.
We have an overnight layover in Dubai on 11 Oct. We were (are?) planning to stay with some friends - however, they are not getting back with us to confirm after having invited us.
So I am making contengency plans for a hotel for the night. I'm looking for clean - safe - cheap - breakfast available. Don't need posh, just a good place to crash the night.
Would any of these listed be good options?

They're all real budget hotels, so don't have high expectations. There are many much better hotels in the city, but of course it all depends on budget.
Of your list, the reviews suggest San Marco is probably the best.

We are definitely doing the hotel route. If we were going to be more than one night, I'd want better digs. But as it is, we're going to have a look at the spice and gold souks and then get some sleep. Then back to the airport the next morning before lunch.

If you choose San Marco it's only a short stroll into the spice & gold souks and the Naif Road shopping area. Also adjacent is the dhow loading area on the Creek, which is also worth a look.
We got a great rate at the Coral Deira Dubai, and went with that instead. It was just a few bucks over the price of the budget options. There's no reviews of it on VT (that I can find) but quite a few on Trip Advisor, which rate it as very nice.

TJ, I don't know that one other than driving past it. It looks OK from the outside and it's not too far from the gold & spice souks, so it's probably a good choice.
