You'll Have To Get To Know Them First
by virtually_cd about Grand Midwest Ibn Battuta
Of the all the accommodations i tried in Dubai, Grand Midwest in Ibn Battuta is where I stayed the longest--not very much because of service or the facilities, but i wanted to try an average-priced hotel in a spacious area, since iv tried ones that are near Mall of the Emirates, a very popular mall.
This is nestled in a quiet area (Discovery Gardens). The only facility other than w resto inside the hotel is a small but pretty-well equipped gym. I am alone most of the time there. I hate gyms but I hate having nothing to do more.
Contrary to popular belief/claim, the Ibn Battuta Mall is not near--unless you take the cab or bus. In fairness to the hotel, there is a bus stop right in front of it and cabs are quick to come by. And because we car-hired, it wasn't much of a problem for us to get around. Should you decide to walk to get to places, like the nearest mall or nearest Metro station, make sure you are really fond of walking, and do it at night. I have experienced the sun being most unforgiving on that part of Dubai.
Rooms have kitchenettes (no separation from the bedrm) which are equipped enough if there's just the 2 of you. No pool, no sauna, no souvenir store. Staff is friendly. Perhaps due to my longer stay there than most travelers, the people made me feel like we're all friends now. They even asked me to help correctly decorate the Christmas tree at the lobby, which of course I was happy to do.
A pretty complete grocery store with some fresh produce is just beside the hotel.
Dubai's grand canyon

If life in the fast lane in Dubai needs a little slowing down, head towards the Hajar Mountains and even visit neighbouring Oman.
Go on a 4WD adventure and experience sun, sea, sand, mountain and valley all in the same day.

Best Western Dubai Grand Hotel
by harps
I was wondering if anybody had stayed here ?
I am coming to Dubai for the first time with my fanily and looking for trip ideas for my 2 kids ?
Re: Best Western Dubai Grand Hotel
by Ali&Steve
You don't say how old your kids are, but everyone enjoys Wild Wadi and the beaches. Plus, there's the museum, Children's City in Creek Park, or a trip on the abras up the Creek. Shopping Centres have great indoor amusement parks for kids. 10 - 15 year olds like the Neon Bowling alleys at the Oasis Centre. You could take them desert bashing on quad bikes, or sand boarding.
The Grand hotel is a bit of a hike from the centre of town, but taxis are cheap and plentiful. I could go on and on, but to give you any proper advice, I'd need to know how old the kids are and what they enjoy. Ali

My kids are girl aged 5 and Boy aged 11 and yes i was thinking of the water parks and maybe Wonderland.
My wife will also have a ball with the huge selection of shops. She is into Indian fashion
Re: Best Western Dubai Grand Hotel

Places for kids:
- Dubai Zoo: small and nice.
- Children's City: Educational in a fun way.
- Wild Wady: a nice water park.
- Indoor amusement in the malls.
if you are going to Sharjah the have a couple of places, but it will be far away from Dubai:
- Discovery Center: Similar to the Children's City in Dubai.
- Arabian Wild Life Center: a different type of zoo with only local animals and birds.
Plus there are many parks in both Dubai and Sharjah with play ground that you can take your kids to spend some time playing.
Enjoy
More input needed on accomodation
by IngeBrigitte
Hi again Jess and others who replied to my previous questions.
Me, daughter18 and son 14 would like to share accomodation and apparently with the Ibis World Trade Centre Hotel it might be a bit difficult so any advice on which of the following you would recommend? Some might allow the 3 of us to share.
Sun and Sand Hotel
Capitol Hotel
Dar Al Sondos Hotel
Dubai Grand Hotel
Le Meridien Fairway
Thanks in advance,
Ingrid
RE: More input needed on accomodation
by 37SingleMaleInDubai1
Hi there,
Well usually if a hotel receives a family of three then they add an extra bed in a double bed room to make place for the three of the family members and I dont see why it should be any different with Ibis World Trade Centre Hotel. Appart from that I can recommend Capitol Hotel which is very near to Jumeirah area and the hotel can easily arrange an extra bed in the room. Hotel is very close to the beach and places which is popular with tourists. Check the hotel and its facilities on their official web site on the following URL:
http://www.capitol-hotel.com/accomodation.html
Safe trip and good luck.
Amir

Hi again!
I agree with Amir (hello, friend!)
The Capitol Hotel is a nice hotel in a great location.
As an alternative, Le Meridien Fairway is also nice, but it's in Garhoud, close to the airport and right opposite City Centre. So at the other end of town.
I'm not sure about the quality, etc. of the other choices.
And usually hotel should have no problem charging the price for a double-room, plus a standard extra charge for 1 additional bed.
