Very disappointing
by colin_bramso about Thai Bistro @ Dubai Marine
A great location in the garden of Dubai Marine Beach Resort, overlooking the pool, so it's a great atmosphere. The staff are good too.
The problem is they've got it totally wrong.
It isn't what it says it is - a Thai restaurant. The menu is almost entirely Cantonese. They've even got the cutlery wrong, they have knifes and forks.
The food is far from the genuine Thai spicyness - we asked for extra hot and could barely taste the chilli.
Prices are typically 5-star hotel though - a small Perrier water is AED14 and the bill for two dishes plus rice was AED 167.
Al Qasr
by amna_alshamsi
It would be a crime to come to the Middle East, and not try some of the local flavours and tastes. At Al Qasr which is located at the beautiful Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa, you will be able to enjoy some of the finest Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine, Dubai has to offer. Overlooking the splendid gardens, swimming pools, and beach at the Resort makes for a splendid evening, which accompanied by a Belly Dancer and Arabian Music will whisk you away in a dream, you will not be able to forget. The food is delicious and the very helpful waiters will be more than happy to help you in the right direction and to offer you suggestions according to your own tastes. We do warn you though, that such a meal can last a long time, so do ensure that you bring a large appetite and a little time to be able to soak in and enjoy the atmosphere.
Italian on the beach
by colin_bramso about Capanna Nuova
One of the great dining locations in Dubai, in the landscaped gardens of Dubai Marine Beach Resort and right on the ocean.
There's a large indoor restaurant but in the cooler months the large terrace built over the private beach or the first floor balcony are the places to be.
It's a 5-star hotel and the service & everything else reflect that. Osso Bucco is my favourite and this is about the best I've ever had, Rissoto with wild mushrooms & truffle oil or seafood rissoto. The various home-made pasta dishes are also excellent and so are the pizzas.
The main courses range from about Dh50 up to about Dh100.
Naturally, drinks are expensive, Dh36 for pina colada, Dh25 for dry Martini, Dh30 to Dh50 for a glass of wine, Dh18 for a bottle of mineral water for example.
THE LIFE AQUATIC
by Siddha3th about DUBAI MARINE BEACH RESORT
Whatever your pleasure, you're sure to find something at the Marine Beach Resort that'll quench your thirst. The DMBR's one of Dubai's most frequented entertainment resorts - thanks to the excellent collection of restaurants, bars and clubs within the Hotel & Spa complex.
When it comes to food, everything from tasty Tex Mex (The Alamo) to funky Cuban cuisine (Malecon) is on the platter.
In Sho Chos, the Beach Resort has got one of the more interesting places around, the stylish sushi bar boasting one of the city's most breathtaking views from the outdoor terrace. Then there's Boudoir, the Parisian-styled club, with lots of air kissing and not nearly enough real kissing. Ah well, to each his/ her own ;-) Depends on which joint you enter into!

Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa

I am at the point of booking a week in the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa. Can anyone tell me if this hotel lives up to its five stars please? Any information you have on this hotel would be much appreciated.
Thank you!!

Have you looked at other hotels for comparison? The Jumeirah Beach Hotel is superior to Dubai Marine. Not that the Dubai Marine is bad; but, if the two hotels are reasonably close in price, take the JBH. The Dubai Marine is probably 41/2 stars when placed against other hotels. It has a small beach and sunbeds tend to be on a lawn away from the sea. Pools are nice, restaurants and bars are very fine. Can't tell you about the rooms. It is a bit closer to town than other beach hotels and you can walk to a few shopping centres which is useful for escaping the higher hotel prices.
Sorry I can't be more helpful with your decision making.

If money is not a matter, check the newer hotels in Jumeirah like Al Qasr and Mina A'Salam. Both of them are close to Jumeirah Beach. For more information, check http://www.madinatjumeirah.com/

I just booked this hotel for the end of august I would like to know if there are any construction work around it at the moment and I would like to know if the resort is a good one or not.
thank you all

There is construction work going on all over Dubai and not limited to particular areas. So almost the whole city is like a construction site.
But the location of your hotel is very nice, close to the city centre at the start of Jumeirah Beach Road. So you should be relatively safe from construction effects.

Yes it's a very good resort.
The construction around it is on the public beach nearby, which is having work done such as breakwaters, walkways, restaurants etc. They are also finishing work on the main road which leads to the hotel, mainly landscaping now. It shouldn't give you any problems.
The resort's website is www.dxbmarine.com/dbrindex.html

Just returned from Royal Mirage last week. Lots of building work going on around Dubai Marina (not sure if your hotel is in this locality). Otherwise a fanatastic place, I took 2 children under 14 and they had a great time, lots to see and do or just chilling on the beach. The weather is hot but great for the beach/pool.
If you're thinking of taking a taxi into the city the rush hour the traffic can get quite heavy, what should have been a 20 min journey took 1 hour 10 min!
