I'm writing this tip while I am staying for the second time in this Thai hotel in Dubai. its quite clean and located in central area by Sheikh Zayed Road.
The staff are nice, the room nicely decorated.
I am staying in the floor No. 31 which gave me a very nice view..
They have internet service in the rooms, but its wired only and they will charge you AED 40 ($11) per hour or AED 100 ($28) for the day.
They also have free wireless to use the net in the lobby only.
The hotel rate this time of the year (July 2007) was AED 690 ($187).
They have Airline Reconfirmation service which is very nice and quick, they came to my room to collect my ticket to change my return flight date, and they did that in very short time. Cental by Sheikh Zayed Road, Nicely decorated clean rooms with a large window between the bathroom and the room, that so nice some time. And they have friendly staff.
Lost in Dubai....

There are plenty of activities in Dubai. We went to desert jeep safari and after this really cool jumpy ride around dunes we had nice dinner in the desert, camel riding and belly dancer show etc....
Try the british pub in Jumeirah beach hotel after the sunset around hotel Burj Al Arab. There is about 50$ entrance fee into Burj Al Arab (must book in advance) but without extra cost you can walk almost behind it via the sea boulevard. To get there simply walk through Jumeirah beach hotel. Best beaches are definitely in Jumeirah and the local public beach is really bad. There are no restaurants or any beach activities in the local beach.
Souks are opened late and gold is really cheap in Dubai. After this you still have time to enjoy nice dinner for example on 24th floor of hotel Dusit Dubai's Italian restaurant in Sheikh Al Zayed Road. There are also many malls where you can enjoy shopping in international atmosphere.

That was my friend who told me after I stay in Dubai for a while. Since then I started to notice that there are many women I met have beautiful hands and feet. Colorful and well maintained.
There are many beauty salons specialized in nails maintenance. They usually offer treatment for hands and feet, including manicure, pedicure, nails acrylic, nail extension, hand and feet spa treatment, hand and feet paraffin, etc. Some of the nails lounges also offer another treatment such as waxing and massage.
I visited some of nail lounges and immediately fall in love to treatment that they offer. Mostly, nails lounges I visited in Jumeirah area have wide variety of treatments, cozy places, reasonable prices and very professional staffs.
Just to give you an idea, the manicure treatment costs 40 Dirhams and Pedicure is 50 Dirhams. French manicure or pedicure are usually cost 5 to 10 Dirhams higher. Change the color polish costs 15 Dirhams (all the price needs to re-check) There are many salons offer cheaper price, starts from 20 Dirham. But if you really want to get really nails pampered, I recommend to try one of nail lounges. Usually they have wide variety of colors. From light to dark or you can also combine the colors to get special effect.

All the hotels will have major activities, but they do get fully booked - which hotel are you staying at?

Thanks for the answer. We will stay at Villa Rotana Suites and I don´t think they arrange anything for New Years Eve.

Ah, yes, Villa Rotana is a 'dry' hotel - no alcohol available. You'll need to try somewhere else for a real NY party. Other Rotana hotels not far away do serve alcohol and I guess would be runnig NY events - Al Murooj and Jumeirah Rotanas for example. Also not far away is Rydges hotel, or Dubai Marine Beach Resort, Crowne Plaza, Dusit Dubai, The Fairmont...there are so many.
