Suggestions on where to stay
My husband and I will will be spending three nights in Dubai in mid October and as first time visitors we would appreciate any suggestions on where to stay. Somewhere central and clean are our main requirements. Many thanks for your help.

Try to check the hotels within the Deira City Center.
There is Ibis Hotel, Flora Park Hotel and Flora Creek Hotel (this last 2 dont serve alcohol). It is very accesible to the train station going to other shopping malls and to the airport.

I'd recommend the Bur Dubai area. We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton which was really nice. It was centrally located to Bastikiya, Dubai Museum, Grand Mosque, Textile Souks, Bur Dubai water taxi station, Bur Juman Mall, metro station, plenty of shops & restaurants, etc. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable.

I agree with Donna and would either stay in the Bur Dubai area (near the Creek, the souqs (= bazaars) and the Museum), or stay along Sheikh Zayed Road which is near Dubai World Trade Centre and the beach.
