Transportation to and from The Mall of the Emirates.

by bodunrin

hi,

can i pls get BUS Directions and Bus Numbers for buses from the gold souk bus station to the mall of the emirates, dubai mall, outlet mall and lamcy plaza.

taxi fares are so high, especially when u have to travel quite a distance. thats why i am opting for bus trips.

i need to know the closest bus station to MOE.

thank you.

If you go to the RTA website (www.rta.ae) you'll find all the bus timetables and route maps.

Within Dubai, RTA can be contacted on toll free number 8009090 for exact information!!

Depending on what hotel you are staying in, there may also be a courtesy-shuttle (free bus) provided by your hotel to the Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall.

800 9090 - Number to call.
Most of the call centre people are quite friendly. If you spreak arabic, that is a plus. But if you are lazy, go to the bus stop, then wait for a bus. Ask the bus driver. They normally give a good advise. Or you go to Gold Souq Bus Station or Bur Dubai Bus Station and ask the office for a map, very convinient. I even have 1 until now! Good luck!

Travel Tips for Dubai

Muslim Country:

by jljpistol

Please remember that this is a Muslim country!!! I wouldn't want you to wind up in jail for somethings you could do back home and not give it a second thought. Example: Holding hands with the opposite sex, kissing or hugging in public etc. Drinking (or drunk) in public, rude behavior, spitting in public, etc. These simple offenses could get a jail term for many months or a year. Don't worry about what you see someone else doing, that doesn't mean you won't get caught.
Also ladies nothing showing too much skin in public, unless at the beach. It only attracts unwanted attention.

THE BASTAKIYA QUARTER; WHERE CHLOE DOES THE TABLES

by Siddha3th

Almost all the galleries in this area are housed within converted wind-towers - beautiful, simple structures made predominantly of stone and brick.

A striking feature of these structures are the wooden 'arms' jutting out at right angles towars the top. In the olden days, when the words A & C didn't exist, these buildings were built to remain naturally cool during the cruel summer heat. Designed in such a way that ventilation was all-round.

I'll take these over air-conditioners, any day!

A Reliable Ladies' Tailoring Shop

by Janani about Dream Girl Tailors

I have visited several tailors in the U.A.E. but only this one had a public shop; the branch I used was in the Meena Bazaar area of Dubai, which has two areas for ladies' tailoring: (Western and Asian) and an area for men's tailoring too (called Hollywood Gents.)

I always had a nice time visiting the shop with my friends; they have a good selection of up-to-date fashion magazines that you can use to decide what you want made and the staff were very flexible too, if I asked for something to be made in a different way to their usual method. They also have an embroiderer but as he was away when we needed some work done, they recommended another independent one.

I haven't used the shop for a while, although I have been fairly recently when friends have been getting things made; in September 2002 I had two outfits made up, according to a picture I brought in, from some cotton twill I brought from London and was charged 40 Dirhams each for two Chinese style tunic tops and 35 Dirhams each for the ankle length skirts with side splits. A tailor named Anwar made the outfits, which after daily wear (they were work uniforms) are still in good condition, whereas my colleagues' ready made ones cost twice as much as mine, fitted poorly and fell apart much sooner.

Great Service

by guruduttmohite

In my short stay in dubai. The one things i liked most was the taxi service. You just call them up and they will pick you up from your location. I have travelled many times from dubai city to jebel ali area and its been a pleasure riding in them. The taxis are mostly toyota camry's which are clean and odour free from inside. They have GPRS assistance on board and drivers mostly are able to speak broken english.

Sho Fee Ma Fee

by peaceness98 about Sho Fee Ma Fee

Fab morrocon resteraunt, excellent ambience with a Dj and soft lightings with vibrant reds and purple velvets scattered all over
We sat upstairs on the roof since the weather was great..if you're on the roof you only get served Tapa's, drinks and sheesha (hookas)- Sitting on the roof, you get a view of the artificial lake with tiny boats carrying people to their hotel rooms or to a restaurant.

The food was great and the service excellent. Kinda pricey, but the quality of food was worth it. the BEST strawberry juice I ever had (and i had my fair share during my 20+ yrs on this planet)
The juice was a mix of white grapes, strawberries, berries and rose water...something fizzy (perrier possibly?)

Anyway, it was great! If you're at Sho fee Ma Fee you better give it a shot- My sis enjoyed her Pina Colada too..not a coconut person myself so dunno

we also had:
Omani lobsters
Shrimp rolls
BBQ'd kebabs
Veggie hummus rolls
Chicken sticks
each with its individual dip.
