Affordable business hotel at good location

I stayed several nights in Le Meridien, Dubai. In the period of a month, I was in and out of Dubai several times. The hotel's location was extremely convenient and its rates were less than other hotels of equal quality.

The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the airport, but thankfully you do not hear any of the traffic (planes or cars).

The hotel is also a short ~10 minute taxi from the central downtown area (~20 AED taxi to World Trade Center)

Downside is that this hotel, while it is part of the Meridien chain, does not participate in the Starwood Preferred Guest program.

Unique Quality: The hotel has all the amenities of a large hotel. There are a few pools, gym facilities, restaurants, business center, car rental desk, etc.

Internet is available in the rooms for an additional cost.

They offer transportation to/from the airport.

Luxury Treat for Jet Lag

I arrived at the Le Meridien Dubai in the early hours of the morning after a long flight from Malaysia. Not having enough sleep on the flight has caused me to be a little less enthusiastic about arriving in Dubai for the first time. However, some rest at this fine hotel has helped me recuperate and brought the spring back in my adventurous soul. The room is of a good size and has a very comfortable bed. If you are like me and can't sleep immediately, you can enjoy several cable TV channels on the 42" plasma TV from the bed.

The breakfast is also outstanding. I feel so decadent having sampled many types of goodies on offer e.g eggs with salmon, tiramisu & freshly brewed coffee. Too bad my tummy wasn't big enough to sample the whole lot because there are so many "exotic" dishes to try.

Unique Quality: If you're into shopping, the hotel does provide a shuttle to the City Centre Mall and Gold Souk but it only leaves once a day. The hotel is also a stone's throw from the airport so you needn't worry about checking in late because it'll take you under 5 minutes tops to get there. Unfortunately, the hotel is undergoing some renovation so I cannot say much about the view but it looks like a complete hotel for business and transit. The staff are mostly from South East Asia so they are friendly and helpful whenever you meet them.

Meridien Dubai (airport)

by rayvan

This is one of my favourite hotels when I am travelling in the middle east. It has everything you need while away from home be it on business or holiday.

The hotel is situated 5 minutes away from the airport and is made up of a complex with several restaurants, two pools, a tennis court and a health spa. A short taxi ride (10 minutes) will get you to the city centre with it’s museums, malls and clubs.

The food in the 16 restaurants (yes 16) is of very good quality and is reasonably priced compared to some of the restaurants in the inner city. The restaurants offer a wide variety of foods ranging from Lebanese cuisine, Thai, Italian, Mexican to greasy pub food in it’s Irish Bar, so unless you are a really fussy eater you will find something you like. There are also a wide variety of snacks available at the pool side for those who get hungry in the afternoon. The restaurants don’t open till later on in the evening (8 o’clockish) with the majority of diners arriving round 9-9:30.

Even though this is a 5 star hotel, the prices aren’t. If you plan your visit you can get some amazing deals. The cheapest stay I have ever had was about 45 GBP per night. Try finding a hotel for that price in any major city.

Restaurants in general in Dubai :-)

by 37SingleMaleInDubai1 about List of all of them :-)

Dubai has got all types of food from different countries amd you have a lot of choices. Here I leave you a list of different restaurants and the type of food they prepare, choose what you like but please call them before going there. Some may have changed their address and/or telephone number. Have a great yummy food and Bon apetite :-)

My two week holiday staying in le meridien Dubai was fabulous! From the moment we arrived we were well looked after. Hotel was beautifuland the room had huge comfortable beds, plasma TV and DVD player. At breakfast you were totally pampered and anything you wanted you got. The choice of restaurants is really good and the ones we tried were brilliant. I would definately recommend this hotel!!

Alright except for the bathroom

by TripAdvisor Member joebeck

My family stayed for 5 nights at this hotel. We had complimentary hotel pickup from the airport and check-in was very fast. The decor was what you would expect of a 5* hotel. My gripe was with the bathroom. We took a deluxe room and the bathroom was tiny, the tub was stained and the shower curtain smelled. The shower mixer was loosely hanging off the wall and the we would be in ankle deep water before the water started to drain. The bathroom fittings looked old and didn't fit in with the 5* decor of the room. Having said that, both bathroom and room were spotlessly clean and towels were changed daily. I was a little disappointed that our room did not have complimentary coffee/tea making facilities, we had to borrow a kettle to make milk for our young child. The tv stations were quite bad and they didn't have any good movie channels, not even HBO. The room service menu was very limited. The bathroom however had Hermes shower products which was a nice touch.

The breakfast buffet was varied but it never changed during the 6 days we were there. We kind of got tired of it by the 4th day. There is however an 'egg station' which you can order your eggs from the waiter and it would be served at your table. Toast and a few selection of muffins and breads were also available.

We had access to Le Meridien's sister hotel at Jumeirah Beach which we thoroughly enjoyed. The free transport leaves at 10.30am and the journey takes roughly about half an hour in non-peak traffic. Beach towels are given in exchange for your passport/driving license or any other type of identificaton so remember to bring one along. We had access to the terrific pool and beautiful beach. There were clean shower stalls, toilet and changing area with lockers at the beach resort and you could shower off before you caught the transport back to Dubai at 4.30pm, Molton Brown products were given which I thought was a nice touch. A word of advice though - book early if you want to visit the beach as Le Meridien Dubai only gives out 15 passes a day.

The hotel also had daily free transport to the Gold Souk and City Centre which is a huge shopping centre. We visited City Centre daily for our meals as they had 2 foodcourts - 1 slightly cheaper and 1 slightly upmarket. Macdonalds, Burger King and KFC were located at the cheaper foodcourt and if you have kids there is something like a kiddyland with rides and merry-go-round which they would love. There was also a Carrefour which was convenient as we would buy food there and take it back to our hotel to eat as we were there during Ramadan and the foodcourt was closed.

The complimentary transport fetches you there but there is no pick-up back to the hotel so you have to catch a cab back. It's about a 10 minute taxi ride and would cost you something like 10 dirhams.

Despite the hotel's close proximity to the airport, not once did we hear any planes taking off nor was it ever noisy, it was quiet at night and we all slept well.

Complimentary transfer to the airport leaves every half-hour but be sure to inform the reception staff what time you want to catch the transfer. Despite the hotel's strict policy that check-out is at 12noon, we managed to get late check out at 3.30pm as our flight was at 6pm, I thought they were rather accommodating.

Despite my gripe about the bathroom, I would highly recommend this hotel for friendly staff, proximity to the airport, shopping centre and cleanliness.

Best Value Dubai City and Beach

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Meridien Dubai City hotel is 3 km from the airport - but don't let that put you off. It is quiet, in fact, it is more peaceful than the beach locations, which suffer construction 24 hours a day.

We have not stopped congratulating ourselves on our decision to stay in the city centre, which afforded us all the luxury of a beach side hotel, a choice of two swimming pools and 10 restaurants with easy access to City centre attractions all at a third of the price of staying down on the beach.

We spent 12 nights in October half term, with our two children aged 6 and 4, and had a very good relaxing family holiday. We spent most of our time lazing around the pool, eating and drinking ourselves stupid at the hotel's bbq buffet, and meeting other likeminded parents, that recognised a good value half term break when they saw one! We also made the most of the hotel's complementary shuttle to its sister hotels down on the beach. Of course, this only happened when we could drag ourselves away from the comfort of the pool. Made even more comfortable with a constant life guard on patrol.

On the whole, this hotel is probably more suited to the business short trip traveller. It is certainly more set up for business users. However, don't let this put you off, it is a good quality 5 star hotel, with a (expensive) spa and around 10 bars and restaurants on sight. It also has a complementary shuttle bus to all of the shopping malls, running each morning and evening.

Noisy Meridien

by TripAdvisor Member MKika

Though the hotel offers nice facilities and attentive service, the deluxe room was very noisy due to the proximity with the airport.
On some occasions, the planes were taking off so close that you could almost feel the windows trembling.
This was a disappointment as the hotel was 5 stars, Fruits basket and newspapers complimentary every day; small outside pools and very willing staff.
The facilities also include animated bars and several restaurants.
I recommend for business travellers stopping via Dubai.

Excellent Value Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member iainb

Stayed here 1-7 August 2005 and would give it an 8/10 overall. The room service was excellent with the room being tended twice a day. The fresh bowls of fruit in the room were welcome as was the 24hr complimentary tea and coffee. The prices at the Dubliner pub within the Meridien Village were good value for both meals and drinks. There was a small amount of building work going on around the pool area but after a day or so you don't actually notice it. The taxis to get out and about were also good value, 8 pounds for a 35 minute ride to the Burj Al Arab for afternoon tea, which is a must do if you have the time, pre-book it before you go. The shopping malls are excellent and have every shop imaginable.

While at the hotel I never actually saw a plane taking off from the airport nearby but I did hear them, not unduly loud though.

An evening Dow Cruise along the Creek was a nice night out and worth the 30 pounds for the eat as much as you like buffet, lovely food choice.

I have recently stayed in Vegas, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and the standard of this hotel was at least as good as any on the hotels I stayed in the USA, maybe with the xception of the Luxor in Vegas.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Le Meridien Dubai

Am staying in the Le Meridien Dubai in the first week of May. Have been to Dubai before but stayed in the Le Royal Meridien on the Jumeriah Beach.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Le Meridien Dubai, if so what were your thoughts? I understand that there is a free shuttle bus to the sister hotels to use their beaches, has anyone ever used these before - are they reliable?

Thanks
