Transit at Dubai Airport with kids

Hello,
Next month we will transit at Dubai airport for 12 hours.Arrive at 3 am .We have 2 kids age 1 and 3...Think to stay at transit hotel (DIH :dubai int'l hotel) but its rate is too expensive. Is it any other cheaper transit hotel available nearby??Thanks in advance for your info.

you can try Nihal Hotel (Deira) its cheap around 250 to 300 AED.. 10 mins away from the airport.. all taxi guyz knows the location.. have fun..

in my opinion Dubai Airport is a disgrace, a transit ghetto, many people appear to live there. Most of these cheap hotels in Deira are little more than brothels and not nice places.

All I need is a clean & quiet room to make the kids sleep before we catch the next flight.
By the way, if we 're going out from airport , do we need to apply for "96 hours visa" sponsored by airline? Coz we're not applicable for visa on arrival.How much does it cost per person ?I read somewhere it s about 120 dirham or...???
Which hotel shall i book?

Hi to everyone,
very soon (around 10.11.) i'll come to Dubai, and so i have a question on which i ask you to answer asap. i got 4 possibilities to book a room:
= HABTOOR GRAND RESORT & SPA
= JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL
= HILTON DUBAI JUMEIRAH
= Hotel Nihal (close to the clock tower).
The first 3 hotels are almost in the same price range (850 Euros for 7 nights incl. flight), Nihal costs 200 Euros less.
And now my questions:
a/ is it worth to spend 200 Euros more for the Jumeirah Beach surrounding?
b./ which of the Jumeirah hotel is closest to the "Madinat Jumeirah" hotel? Eventually in walking distance?
c./ which is the "best" hotel of the Jumeirah hotels?
d./ are there buses to Abu Dhabi and how long takes me to go there?

Well, I just read your info. Apart from the Nihal hotel the rest are 5 star hotels and located along the same stretch. Habtoor is a nice place, and is very new. Jumeira Beach is always the best and expensive and Hilton is good too. Nihal, well I would not stay there, its in the heart of Deira but the surroundings are not the best. If you want a city hotel the Hilton Creek is good and is part of the Hilton Group of Hotels.
Jumierah Beach is not in the city and so you'll need a cab/taxi to get to town. The same goes for the Habtoor and Hilton. Considering the construction work around the Habtoor and Hilton, Jumeirah is the best place to stay.
Jumeirah Beach is near the Madinat Jumeirah and is part of the same group. Its a few stepts away and has some good restaurants and the Famous Trilogy Night club.
Although the Burj Al Arab is the best of the group, Jumeirah is very good too.
Yes you get busses to Abu Dhabi and its just an hour and a half away from Dubai.

thanks for the informations. Well - unfortunately i didn't need your informations anymore because... i'm a dumb guy ))) I made a mistake with the conversion rate (from Czech Korons), so the 3 5* hotels doesn't cost around 850€ but at least double. So i decided to book my flight to Dubai (500€) and a hotel via the net. And as i have to look onto my budget I'll book 3 nights somewhere in Bur Dubai, then I'll move outside the city into a cheaper place. Do you have an idea where i'd spend those 3 nights (I'll rent a car)? Preferable at the beach?

Mr Dump guy, the only hotels you get by the beach at the 5 stars which I guess are not in your budget. About booking a place in Bur Dubai, good idea, it is the center of the city, and alot of hotels from low cost to high cost. If you visit some of the dubai websites you will surely find accomodation. Travel agencies will also help.

Locxal Knowledge....Distance from Hotel to Cruise Port

My wife and I arrive Dubai airport 0300 hrs 8 May. We have booked two nights at the Nihal Hotel 58 Al Maktoum Street (Clock Tower) Deira, Dubai.
We are booked to leavce Dubai on a cruise ship leaving from Cruise Terminal Berth 30 Port Rashid Bur Dubai
This is our first visit to Dubai. Can someone with local knowledge tell me please.....how far is it from our hotel in Deira to the Cruise Terminal......what can we expect to pay for a taxi, and given "average" traffic conditions.....how long will the trip take?

The Distance is not very Far, it wont take more then 15 minutes early morning 30 minutes during day time, All Taxi's in Dubai are bound to use the meter 3.5 Dirham for the Flag Fall, and maximum you will pay is under 30 Dirham (around 8 Dollar)If the meter is not turned on for any reason, your ride will be free by Law.

G'day Mike. I agree with that - I'd say it's only about ten or fifteen kilometres or so from your hotel to Port Rashid. Taxis are well-regulated, metered, air-con etc. If you're leaving during the peak traffic period it'll be a bit of a jam getting across the Creek, if it's outside peak period it's an easy run.

Your hotel may provide a coutesy Transfer, if not taxi is the best. Book a taxi by calling 2080808 and the taxi would be there on time!

That's a good point Amir, the hotel may have a free shuttle service. It's certainly worth asking them.
