Looking for cheap temporary hotel/apt before leaving Dubai

by xty

My current apartment contract will end on 15 July and I'm supposed to leave Dubai on 31 July (new job and country). My landlord won't give me only 2 weeks of extension, they will only charge for minimum 1 month (3600 AED + W/E). In this case I will loose 1800 AED.

So now I'm looking for a cheap but nice hotel or hotel-apartment (preferably in Bur Dubai/Karama/Mankhool area, no Deira/Ghusais please) for 2 weeks staying for a budget of total 3000 AED or 200 AED per day (ALL inclusive). I know I can see local newspaper for advertisement. But maybe someone know what I'm looking for, please inform me.

The only way is to contact the hotels and see if you can make a deal for your remaining days. The Good in your case is that you are ready to pay 3000 AED's for 15 days so this may help you to secure a place. I leave you name and contact details of some hotel apartments, call them and maybe you find the deal!!

Travel Tips for Dubai

Henna Tatoos

by Nemoa

One of my favourites things about Dubai is the custom of Henna tatooing.
It is not invasive because it is only painted on your skin and it lasts about one week. Depending on how dry your skin is. Mine is pretty moisturized and oily so it held for about one week.

The custom of the henna tatoo can be traced back to traditional weddings.
When women are to be married a women only night is celebrated and the bride to be is tatooed with henna, her hanks, feet, wrists and ankes.

If the tatoo lasts very much the bride is a hard-working woman and will take proper care of the house (I suppose because her skin is very dry of much working !!). She receives her gifts, perfumes and silk and jewels.

I got mine at the Bedouin party at the Lama Desert tour but I guess you can get them in salons over the city.

Day Trip to Abu Dhabi

by MM212

With its parks, trees and orderly streets, Abu Dhabi is very pleasant and offers a tranquil contrast to Dubai. While tourism is still under development, Abu Dhabi currently has very little on offer, as compared with Dubai. Nevertheless, Abu Dhabi does provide an interesting alternative to the buzz of Dubai, and is worth the trip. The beaches in and around Abu Dhabi are also great and may be worth exploring. Click on Abu Dhabi to read more about the capital of the UAE.

Abu Dhabi makes an easy day trip from Dubai. The capital city is only about 100km from Dubai, and only road travel is available between the two cities at the moment. A private taxi costs about 300 dirhams (~US$82) each way.

This new shopping area has everything from Ikea to Body Shop, marks and Spencer to Monsoon, as well as restaurants, a gold market and other companies are coming soon.
There are several wings to the mall and the decor is effective, Where shops have not yet opened there are colourful murals.Water features add to its charm.
All the shops we entered were bright and modern, and assistants helpful. At Jaber Optics the techician fitted new bits to hold my glasses on to my nose for free. I'd gone in to price new frames, but hadn't enough cash on me to buy. Now I don't need to. as much as in UK

Taxiiiiii

by Kisu

Traffic in Dubai is wild for Europeans. Taxis are available everywhere and they are really cheap and faster than camels =) . I wouldn't bother renting a car as many kinds of excursions are also arranged with shared trasportation. If you have time, visit Qatar! We didn't have time to get there, but maybe some day....

Dhow Dinner Cruise

by wto about Dhow

The Dhow Dinner Cruise evening gives an easy paced 2 hour cruise along Dubia Creek. The buffet has various types of food, with starters, main course & dessert.

Ask for a table on the lower deck, inside, to eat in air conditioned surroudings, then for the return back along the creek, take a seat outside on the upper deck and enjoy the sights. Try a bit of everything! It's the only way.
