Restaurants & Bars under one roof in Dubai

I booked a room in Radisson because I wanted to have a view of the Dubai Creek and my expectations were met! It was so nice to stay in the balcony in the evening and at daytime and just look at the creek. It is so peaceful.

Let's talk about the toiletries - well the scent is so lemony which I really like. Enough towels are provided and they smell quite nice. Aside from slippers, comb, toothbrush and sewing kit, one gets this thing you use to make it easy for you to slide into your shoes. In addition, I got two bottles of water together with tea and coffee sachets and 3 apples and newspapers everyday. The mini bar is fully equipped :D

As I have had visited the Turkish baths and steam rooms in Istanbul (massage included), I did not feel like visiting the massage parlour of this hotel. What I enjoyed a lot is eating in the hotel's restaurants. I enjoyed my stay in the hotel.

Unique Quality: Great view of the Dubai Creek! They have pool too, of course.

Fine business hotel, also for lesure

I stayed in the Dubai Intercontinental for 3 nights early August 2006. The hotel is very good in all respects. Rooms, though not extremely spacious, are tastefully furbished and clean. The same is valid for the bathrooms. The airconditioning does a good job without much noise. All rooms have their own balcony with a table and two chairs, and enjoy a creek view, though the views may be partially obstructed from the lowest two floors. The hotel's higher floors are for registered members of Intercontinental or IC Hotels.

The hotel is situated in the city center next to Dubai´s town hall, at the border of the Creek. The main souks are within walking distance, though I recommend to take a taxi in summer time (even at night), as it is simply too hot to walk any distance more than 20 meters.

The hotel has a mid-size swimming pool, where drinks and food are served to the beds. Cold water is suplied to the pool in summer, so the water temperature does not get above 30 degrees Celsius.

Part of the hotel is a shopping center with about 20 shops, where they sell mainly jewelry, clothes, shoes and souvenirs. Besides, there is a good selection of restaurants (7 or 8 in total). My wife and I preferred the Palm Grill, a top class steakhouse with live background music every night (see separate review). Finally, there are two night clubs.

Another good thing of the Intercontinental is that you don't hear any mosques early in the morning, so you can sleep until late if you want. The hotel rooms are silent in general: you don't hear any noise from other guests and other rooms except for the flushing toilet of the bathroom above yours (not annoying).

The top floor restaurant is open for breakfast, but check if it is included in your rate. Otherwise you're supposed to the ground floor restaurant or will be charged an extra US$ 25 per person per day.

Unique Quality: The Intercontinental is exactly what you should expect of a top class business hotel. I really haven't found anyting negative, and would also recommend it for lesure because of the fine swimming pool, the perfect restaurants and top location!

Great view over the creek

by anders1975 about Radisson SAS Hotel Dubai Deira Creek

This was the first five star hotel owned by the Intercontinental-chain. Now Radisson SAS has taken the grounds and made it into a great hotel for both leisure and business.
Clean, large rooms with balconies.
We enjoyed the swimming pool and the fitness center. You can connect to WIFI in the reception area (free of charge) or through an internet cable in your room.
Located centrally.
Lots of restaurant in the same complex as the hotel. Also some bars but we didn't like these very much as they attracted a certain crowd of females looking for company when we visited.
Great if you stay some days in Dubai. If you're looking for beach and sun I'd rather go out of the city and find a resort by the ocean. Great views from the 10th floor bar and club lounge. The club lounge was a great experience in itself with refreshments throughout the day. We also had breakfast up here.
We book a standard room through their website (AED594) and were upgraded to a club room on arrival which gave us access to the lounge on the 10th floor.

Fresh Seafood

by Penelope4 about Fish Market

The Fish Market is known to be an award-winning seafood restaurant which is located in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.

You get to handpick the vegetables that you would like to go with the seafood you like - everything is fresh of course. Aside from getting a towel to clean your hands, you will be given an apron too so in case you make a little mess with your lobster or what-have-you, it won't leave any stain on your suit or clothes.

And I almost forgot to mention, you get a nice view of the Deira Creek while dining. I forgot the name of the fish I have chosen. I had it grilled and liked it a lot. For a starter, I got some oysters which I enjoyed with lemon and tabasco.

Superb

by TripAdvisor Member Off_again_Yeah

I found the price (approx USD225 pn), the room, the staff, the service, the amenities all fantastic. The staff could not do enough to accommodate any request. The breakfast included in room cost was amazing, everything from cereal to sushi plus you could have any request cooked for you on the spot. I only ate in one other restaurant (Yum), and the service was excellent and food was well presented and delicious. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.
The Thai massage in the fitness club was amazing.

Great base to explore town

by TripAdvisor Member seventy5

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dubai Intercontinental for 6 nights at the end of Feb (2006) and really enjoyed our stay.

The Hotel
The hotel is in a perfect location to explore the town area either by foot or by taxi. Taxi’s are of the plenty and extremely cheap.

The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and efficient. All of our calls to housekeeping were answered within 15 mins.

We visited during the winter months but it was still warm enough to relax by the pool (heated to 30 degrees). The pool area overlooks the Creek and there was usually a breeze, which was cooling. The hotel had a lot of guests who are there on business so the pool area was never very busy during the day and getting a lounger was never a problem.

The hotel has over 10 restaurants and bars to chose from of the evening. We ate in a few of the restaurants and never had a complaint, the Chinese in particular we enjoyed. We enjoyed the bars also, but its worth mentioning there are a few young ladies around looking for business.

General Dubai
We visited the beach area of Dubai a couple of times, but did not rate the public beach too much at this time of year. It appeared quite baron and the sea has a strong current. Also, it’s worth mentioning that there is not any public transport to speak of (until 2010, apart from a minimal bus service), so the roads are really congested. It can take a while (over 1 hour) to travel from the Creek to the beach.

The Souks are a great place to soak up the atmosphere, definately worth a visit. Also, you must take a trip across the Creek on water taxi, its excellent value for money.

We were lucky enough to visit during the men’s open tennis tournament and we bought a couple of tickets for the quarterfinal, which was excellent, we would definitely recommend a visit. Also, the Irish Village is also situated within the stadium where there is a Bar with a large beer garden and lots of restaurants to choose from. Something to note about the grandstand was that there is no shade, so would advise taking something to protect form the midday sun.

Great Hotel in a central location

by TripAdvisor Member woblynne

Stayed at the Intercontinental from June 20-24 2006.

We had stayed there before and requested one of their Club rooms. This ensured that transport was provided from the airport (return), breakfast and evening drinks/canapes between 7-9pm. This was excellent value as even champagne was available. The Club lounge manager (Catherine) was wonderful throughout our stay and couldn't do enough to assist us. She came from Scotland and made us feel really welcome.

The Club floor check in/reception is on the 10th floor and is used as a concierge service also. The rooms are of average size and maintained by housekeeping really well, with a turndown service every night. The Club floors tend to be on the higher floors of the hotel and are divided into smoking and non smoking floors. There are two views from the rooms - all with creek view but either side of the hotel with a pool view or city view.

As this is a business hotel, most guests are not around the pool area in the day and we found it easy to obtain a sunbed and towels are available (just sign and give your room number).

There are lots of restaurants within the hotel - a great value noodle bar called Yum, a fish market, steakhouse, fantastic Japanese and Chinese and a typical style English Pub.

The views of the Creek are wonderful at night and watching the abras criss cross is fascinating.

The biggest nightmare is getting around as the road in front of the hotel is extremely busy and the traffic jams are horrendous - to cross the creek on the bridge takes forever.

The location of the hotel is very central for the gold (5 mins in a taxi) and spice souk and Deira City Centre for shopping.

Overall a lovely hotel with excellent service. The only shame is that it's not going to be an Intercontinental soon as Radisson are taking it over sometime in October or December. However, they are (surprise surprise in Dubai) building a new Intercontinental in Festival City which is going to apparently surpass this one.

Watch this space.....

Still good after 15 years of visits....

The inter-con is one of the 2 oldest hotels in Dubai and whilst she is showing her age, she is still a Grande Dame of an Hotel. The staff are generally first rate and experienced. The Maitre d' in breakfast, room service staff such as Cora and Roston and the team at the health club are all superb. Over the years i have eaten in all of the restuarants, all of whcih are great. The china club is superb and i love Yum for a quick cheap meal. My favourite is The Palm Grill, where you can get the BEST steaks and hear the best sounds. John Anthony Little is a fantastic artiste and makes your evening with his piano playing a sublime singing. If we'd discovered him on our first night we'd not have gone anywhere else at all. The health club has had a make over and the spa is now open for both sexes 24 hours a day, (in the past it was certain hours for men and certain hours for women).

I just hope that once Radission get hold of it, that they plough some money into it to maintain and enhance the standards. The traffic is a pain on Banyas Road, but hey that is Dubai where the car rules. It's a great position if you want to see the REAL Dubai and not all the stuff that is being built out on the beach. One other thing - if you want a reputable and reliable jeweller with good honest prices check out CARA, shop 24 at the Gold & Diamond Park - i have been going to him for more than 10 years and they really know their stuff and have great prices. Ask for Kiran or Anil and say that "Barry H" suggested you go there. They just made us two fabulous diamond rings and 2 gold & platinum commitment rings, which i designed, all for a fraction of what you'd pay anywhere else.

Other top tips - go to the Park Hyatt for drinks. Have a shisha on the creek or a luxury one at the mirage hotel, esp after a meal at Tagine. Eat at Automatic for fantastic value arabic food.

Just have fun & enjoy!

Great Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member melaniew72

My Husband had to go to Dubai for work and I tagged along... The travel agent at his company put him in this hotel, it didn't dissapoint! It was a very nice hotel the room was clean and neat and the bed was very comfy. The comforter was soft and squishy. The pillows were amazing. We we there during the summer so it was really hot outside and extremely muggy.

The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The doorman was always there to help get a cab and the conceirge was available for questions. We ate at The China club, the pub, and La Moda. All three were excellent and we would go back to all of them again.

RE: dinner cruise in dubai

Hi!

For the best food, why not try the dinner cruise of the Intercontinental Hotel Dubai?
It's called the "Al Mansour Dhow Cruise"
Tel: 00971 4 222 7171 (Front Desk)
Website: http://dubai.intercontinental.com

I'm not sure about the price per person, but you can contact them and find out timings, prices, etc. Alcohol is readily available on board (maybe you'll even find a bottle of wine, etc. included in the price of the buffet...?)

Hope this helps.
