More about Radisson Blu Residence, Dubai Marina

Hotel Radisson SAS

by georeiser about Hotel Radisson Blu Dubai Marina

Hotel Radisson Blu Residence is just beside Sheik Zayed Road, which is Dubai's most busy highway. It's a tall building with more than 150 rooms, but it doesn't look so tall with all the other skyscrapers around it. Jumeirah Public Beach is 6-700 meters away over the bridge to Dubai Marina. It takes 10 minutes to walk or you can take a free shuttlebus which departs at 11 AM. Hotel Radisson Blu Residence is a costly hotel with the starting price of 600 AED (160 USD). The hotel does not provide breakfast as a complementary, so if you like to eat here it cost 70 AED (20 USD) extra.

Hot air balloon

by JindyGirl

Im going to dubai in sept & was thinking of going hot air ballooning.

Any thoughts??

Re: Hot air balloon

by JessH

Hi again!

(have answered your hot air ballooning question in your previous post.)

Just keep in mind that most of the month of September will be the Holy Month of Ramadhan, so there will be some restrictions during daylight hours as to eating & drinking, smoking in public and also you should dress "decently" unless you're at the hotel pool or the beach.

Thsi year, Ramadhan is expected (it changes every year) to start around the 21st August and last until the 19/20th of September.

Thanks

I don't get in until the 26th sept so hopefully it will be finished by then

Yeah, no worries, that'll be fine :-)

My suggestion is... just buy balloons... because the weather on September will be Super HOT... so the air athmosphere is HOT! Hot air.. plus your balloon.. good combination! Cheers! :)

Travel Tips for Dubai

Marhaba – Meet and Greet Service

by Rinjani

Marhaba is an assistance service available at Dubai International Airport. It is quite useful to use Marhaba service if you have family, relatives or friends who come to Dubai for the first time. The Marhaba crew will wait for them when they step off the plane at Dubai International Airport.

The service of Marhaba including escort from gate until outside including porter service. Or if you use Marhaba service on the departure, they provide escort service from check-in area to the boarding gate. Marhaba also provides services such as bouquet service, Limousine service and also wheelchair for people who need it.

To use Marhaba service, you need to contact them through Dnata Travel or Emirates Airlines Reservation, or appointed travel agencies. If you come to Dubai Airport, just go to Marhaba counter. You will be required to fill in the form, depending on what package service you need.

Services available are among others, Diamond Service, Family Package, Normal Service, Marhaba Lounge and Wheel Chair. The price range from 60 Dirhams to 185 Dirhams, depend on the package. You can also request for staff who speak certain language to asisst your beloved people.

"Disney-esque" and "Las Vegas-esque"

by MM212 about Mercato Mall

No one can contest the fact that the Mercato Mall is artificial and tacky, replicating an Italian City (even down to a Bernini fountain) in a Disney-esque and Las Vegas-esque fashion. However, in a city of many excesses like Dubai, it fits right in! Once you rid yourself of your biases, the Mercato Mall is quite pleasant and can be a decent hangout. Attached are pictures of its facade and interior.

Emirates

by uglyscot

I have travelled to Dubai from Cairo and Khartoum. It goes without saying that travelling by Emirates is the best way to fly because of their up to date aircraft and friendly service.Having your own private screen is better than trying to see the overhead screen.
But, I had no complaints to make when travelling by Egyptair either. My most interesting trip was by cargo plane, sitting in a small compartment behind the cockpit. No windows, no service, no seat belts, and just a huge empty space in the body of the plane where normally passengers would sit.
On arrival in Dubai there is a long passenger conveyer track or walk to the immigration area; though arriving from Khartoum we had a long bus ride [almost an hour] to get to Immigration. There the queues are quite long , unless you have a fasttrack card, but once at the desk there is no problem if you have a visa or are travelling on a passport that allows free
entry. Nowadays anyone can have 96 hours without a visa. My British passport gives me 60 days.
The luggage may have arrived on the carrousel, or come soon after you reach it.

Hi-tech Elegance

by DesertRat about The Cascades

This putative hotel coffee shop offers a fairly wide-ranging menu with Arab, Indian, and "international" items on the menu. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Cascades is the space itself: lighting changes continually, there's lots of glass, brushed stainless steel, wood, white marble. The atmosphere is closer to being disco or 22nd century bar & lounge than anything else. Extraordinary things: triangular pieces of brushed stainless steel used as placemats, salt & pepper mills on the tables, and several waterfalls. The Salade Nicoise was excellent.
