It's a bit warm in June...
It can get very warm in Dubai. If you are out all day or walking around a spare T shirt can come in handy.
It's also useful to go into the shopping centres to get a bit of relief from the air con in there!

I am considering to spend a holiday in dubai with my little baby, but i am a little bit confused after reading an article about dirty water of sea there (from bad sewage system) and some health problem of people from it. Is it a problem there ? Isnt the water better further from Dubai (for example in Sharjah) ? Thanks for every information.
There was one small area of beach by the sailong club that had a problem some months (a year?) ago, when sewage tanker drivers unloaded into public drains instead of the sewage treatment plant.
There isn't a problem now.
While i've never taken water samples to a lab for testing, the clarity is what you would imagine of some South Pacific island paradise (slight exaggeration, but not far off)
I think the water is more concentrated in salts due to desalination so it may hurt eyes. Otherwise not contaminated with harmful pollutants!!
HI from Dubai :-)
The water is definitely a lot saltier, due to the fact that the Gulf is quite shallow.
Also, I think the main issue with sewerage being dumped into the ocean has been dealt with, but although the water may look clean it's not fantastic. On some days (rarer nowadays, but it still happens) strange foam may wash-up onto the beaches (I think this is stuff from the offshore construction that's happening). A friend of mine just saw the stuff again recently.
But all in all it seems to be safe and healthy water to swim in... much better than it used to be during the "construction boom" a few years ago anyway :-)
I also read story dirty water in Dubai as VT members said I think they have sort out this issue.

As many other cities in Middle East, official weekend off day in Dubai is Friday.
Business hours is a bit different from private sectors and government.
Government and many local-based companies have office hour timing starts from 7 AM to 3PM or 7 PM to 4 PM.
The private companies business hours are usually from 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM.
Some companies implement Friday, Thursday-Friday or Friday-Saturday as weekend off. And some of them work only half-day in Thursday.
If you need to deal with the bank and government offices it is wise to go before 2 PM.
Some shops, usually in Satwa and Karama area, close from 1 PM to 4 PM. And usually they open again at 4 PM or 5 PM.
Friday morning is usually a quiet time in Dubai. Many youngster too tired after party on Thursday night. Wednesday and Thursday night are usually crowded.
Friday, many shops open after 2 P.M. So, if you are happen in Dubai at that day, go to the open beach is the best option.
Festival City waterfront which has been built at the same place where a few years before the global village or dubai festival used to be held.
It is a sprawling mall with the top brands in fashion having a store therein.
IKEA, Paris Gallery, Hyper panda etc.... too many to describe in here.
There is also a canal with boat ride. Original Brands - watches, clothes, leather & travel, fresh fruits & vegetables, everyday utilities.
Watch out for raffles and promotions.
There are also shows for childrens with jugglers, magicians, musicians, girls on stilts.
overall a pleasent experience. Splendid bargains and special offers - promotions.
There was an earlier tip about the seedy underbelly of Dubai's nightlife in Bur Dubai and Deira. No I'm not talking about the "businesswomen", though Marine's Club@Sea View Hotel has its share of "overly friendly" female company. Marine's is in a 6-year old, small 4-star hotel, but a walk on upstairs into the club takes you to the antithesis of just about every hip, trendy, venue-of-the-hour in Dubai. With pool tables, weather-beaten looking walls and wood, and charming free snacks (veggies, nuts and peanuts) and reasonably-priced meals with reasonable drinks served by friendly, waist-high gals in polo tops and khakis, one thinks they've stumbled on a friendly dive that wouldn't be out of place somewhere in the Midwestern US. (except for the presence of some Chinese, African and CIS "businesswomen", dressed for action - but even they seem more relaxed than at Cyclone or other joints in Dubai). But the real find here is the band - a gleeful bastardization of the typical quartet of shapely Filpino gals singing pop songs found in so many Dubai expat hotel bars. Except in this place they front a LOUD yet crisp band which revels in both familiar and unfamiliar 70's and 80's rock and metal songs. The girl bass player (who also occasionally plays guitar and drums) occasionally takes lead vocals and gleefully shows off her hair-moshing ability, the guitarist and drummer look like pock-marked gravediggers in the finest Keith Richards tradition - and play perfectly. And the keyboardist, who quietly calls the songs and leads the band from behind his console, adds his own vocals to the mix. Queen, Metallica, Zeppelin, Evanescence, Pink Floyd and Guns'N'Roses are frequent targets of this band - their versions of "Bohemian Rhapsody", "November Rain", "Sweet Child O'Mine", "Enter Sandman", and "Another Brick in the Wall" on a good night are awe-inspiring. On any continent and in any town, this would be a great band. In Dubai, they are a best-kept secret. Casual, no sneakers or shorts for men; women generally anything goes.
The taxi is more comfortable type of transportation in Dubai. There are public busses as well but they exist only last 3-4 years. The main transport is always taxi it seems. It's cheap, in comparision with Moscow for example, and I think with another cities too. You can go by taxi from east to west for 15 USD. I believe it's very cheap!!! I used only taxi in the city and only once, for a probe, a bus. When you have a taxi you shouldn't surprise the taxi driver begin to count with 3 Dirhams (USD 0.82 around). Sometimes the drivers said they haven't change and before you use taxi I recommend to have many little notes. Moreover there are many private taxi cars (with green numbers), that to use it you should have a deal with driver. You can economize or pay much. I prefer to use public taxi with a counter.
