Somewhere to stay!
by kitty_09
Hi, I am travelling to Dubai start of August I just wanted to know what the name of the hotel is that is right next to the airport,....apparently. I really dont' want to stay the night sleeping in the airport seats, that does sound cheap but not for me I don't think. Any suggestions
Re: Somewhere to stay!

Hi from Dubai!
There's a hotel within the airport itself called "Dubai International Airport."
Copy & paste this link for the details:
http://www.dih-dca.com/dih-dca/reservation/reservation_Date_Request.aspx
Outside of the airport itself, on the opposite side of the road, are two 5-star hotels:
> Le Meridien Dubai.
> The Al Bustan Rotana Hotel.
Hope this helps,
Jess

Hi there,
You may be eligible to free accommodation by the airline you are using if it is a long time to wait before the connecting flight to the final destination!!

Ok thank you that does sound great! So is it best if i call the airline i am travelling with? I am flying with Emirates, so hmm i wonder.

Yes, you need to check with Emirates... they usually provide accomodation for any stop-over that's longer than a certain amount of hours.

Le Meridien in the Airport is a nice place with a cool bar (Jules) for an evening drink and party.
Travel Tips for Dubai
Dirhams for Dollars
by miso80
You can choose to exchange your money before coming to Dubai..or you can have your money exchanged here. There are plenty of exchange places around: In every mall, banks, etc. and even most shopping centers and shops might be willing to take dollars from you, but they will give you the change back in Dirhams .
Exchange Rates:
1 USD = 3.65 AED
1 Euro = 4.75 AED
However, if you do exchange your money at a store or a shopping center..they might buy the dollar for 3.60 instead of 3.65.
Of course, credit cards are accepted in most places.
Dubai Creek (Khoor)
by peaceness98
Go to Dubai Creek and take a dhow (traditional boat ride) to the other side. Great Kodak moments almost guarenteed!
This is around Bur Dubai (Anyhow Dubai's so tiny everythings closeby, just watch out for traffic rush hour)
The Hottest Shopping Spot
by Rinjani about Deira City Center
An ideal place to shop around is City Center. It is big shopping mal with the concept of “one-stop shopping”. Located in Deira, and close to the Dubai International Airport, City Center is a very good choice for shopping if you just transit in Dubai. For souvenir seeker, you can head to Arabian treasure in the first floor. For home accessories, in the same floor you can find IKEA. Carrefour Hypermarket is also available here. The place is usually crowded, and spare your time for the long queue in the busy hours.
Cosmetic, perfume and beauty product can be found in Paris Gallery. You will love their products and the friendly staffs. Fashion?? It’s a lot of fancy brands here. Electronic gadget can be found at Plugs Ins. They sell from camera, mobile phone to computer and audio. Generally, credit card is accepted. Some shops also accept currency such as US Dollar, Poundsterling, etc.
hop on bus
by FATIMAO
hi
not sure about the running of the hop on hop off tours but just some advice
i have been to dubai quite a few times and despite being a fan of hop on hop off in other cities i dont suggest doing it in dubai .the stops seem to be further away from each other and not as regular .also realy hot most of the year so not suitable to be on top if bus .if you do do it i dont think you would get real value for money on it .anyway just my thoughts
Good and cheap thai food
by fareleira about Sala Thai
We had our first meal in Dubai here.
It was suppose to be breakfast and we were hungry.
This Sala Thai is on the Food Court of Burjuman Shopping Center, they serve grilled meat and some fish. Of course they have the normal noodles and rice on the side. It's not a special place and theres a lot of noise but it's cheap! Try the combos you get a lot for the money!
