Worst Hotel in Dubai

The Royal Falcon in Deira (Saluddin Street) is the only flipside of my visit to Dubai. Located in the sketchiest area of the city, it offers visitors the 'Pakistani Night Club', which in my opinion is a glorified dance bar and pick up joint.

The Staff is questionable too. There was the shady bellboy, who kept offering us 'deals' on the touristy stuff to do. Our room was very average with tiny flea like insects in the washrooms, and a broken lamp, which they kept promising to fix, but never did. The receptionists (equally inept) kept saying they would 'look into the matter'.

Though it seems ok on the surface, the crowd it attracts comprises of leacherous middle aged men, who oggled at us each time we walked into the pint sized lobby. Naturally we spent most of our time out of the hotel, and used it for bathing and sleeping purposes strictly.

On our second last day, we were waiting in the lobby and we saw some of the'dance girls' with their 'customers'. It was extremely freaky cause it confirmed our worst fears about the place. Further, every night they put up a billboard at the entrance of the lobby. This had polaroid pictures of each of the 'Pakistani Dancers', so that customers may have their pick.

Really creepy, and totally avoidable.

p.s.: I'd really suggest all women and families avoid visiting this place, for the sake of their peace of mind. Single men should avoid it too, lest they get trapped in some sketchy sham or the other. The men visiting it looked like the suspicious sort, with bulky tattooed bodies, shifty glances and leacherous grins. Totally gross. We would have left if we already hadn't paid a compulsory lumpsum advance. :-S

p.p.s- Don't even visit if you're really really desperate for a low cost accomadation

More about Royal Falcon

Royal Falcon Hotel

by Cielo_Algaeed about Royal Falcon Hotel

Royal Hotel Falcon is a 3 star hotel located in Deira Area. The room itself is ok clean enough but the bathroom stinks.

The design of the room is not good enough for you to have a peaceful sleep not unless you're really knocked off and tired. You can hear the sound of the elevator, the running kids going back and forth, the people staying on the other rooms...wow! it was really chaotic!

The aircondition unit is nto even working! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and the hotel staff esp the housekeeping staff are really rude.

The hotel is flocked by prostitutes during weekend and by men who wants to have some fun (know what i mean?) Well actually, they said prostitutes in Dubai are everywhere....hmmm! sounds like a common thing to them!

We arrived early in the morning, and the linmo driver was not really familiar with the place and so we tried to call them to ask for the direction. Unfortunately, we tried to reach them with the telephone number that they post in the internet but no one is answering the phone.

So, it took us almost an hour or so to find the hotel :-(

The hotel rate in Dubai is really pricey.Considering a 3 star hotel with bad service is USD110 per night but i would suggest an extra 50-70USd a night is reasonable enough for you to stay out of this hotel.

Reef Mall

by Cielo_Algaeed about Reef Mall

Reef Mall is located along Salahuddin Road in Deira. Just near the Royal Falcon hotel were we stayed.

Just like any other mall with shops, cafes and restaurants. There are still some shops underconstruction...beside the mall is the Toys R Us shop.

16 hour layover advice

by booradley

In November will be connecting flights in Dubai. We arrive Dubai 1pm and need to be back at airport at 6.30am. Need advice
Cab fares into town?
Cheap accomodation in safe and central location?
Is there some sort of evening city tour?

Re: 16 hour layover advice

by Monica_lo

You can do a desert BBQ which is fun !
For reasonable priced hotels try places like Dubai Palm Royal Falcon, Admiral Plaza etc

www.nongasia.com/dubai.html has good choice of stopover hotels and also you can look at the sightseeing there too for the desert BBQ, which is certainly a different experience, there are airport transfers you can book too !

A good tour will be Big Bus. They do one city route and one 'New Dubai' route - both hop-on hop-off. Details in my Dubai Things to Do Tips.
