The hotel is situated in the middle of Dubai and many things are near for example The Beach, Jumbo Super store and mainly the Metro station plus bus stand so you can move freely where ever you want to go.
Unique Quality: It has got a bar, two night clubs one Indian and the other English and a message parlour on the roof. You can also rent a dance partner from just out side the hotel if you need one "Got want to say" and every thing including the hotel are very economical.

York International is a 3 star hotel located on main Khalid Bin Al Waleed road. It has been designed and furnished by Italian decorators. Its blue glass building is impressive with flags of many countries on display. All rooms have digi safe, mini bar, IDD telephone, complimentary tea and coffee facilities, TV and attached bathroom.
Unique Quality: You can use Internet at E-pub while having drinks and listening to your favorite music. Bank Street Cafe is open 24 hours serving oriental and continental dishes. The York Club is one of disco with 66 feet long bar. Enjoy with resident Dj and "Age of Reason" rock band.
It is a nice hotel if you are a budget traveler and looking for reasonable accomodation.

Hi all (and esp Amir who seems to be amazing at replying to nearly all forum q's)
I'm coming to Dubai in March and am looking to spend one-two night close to the bazaar (for convenience) and the last 2 nights at the Jumeirah Beach (hopefully). Can anyone recommend a cheap and clean hotel close to the bazaar please which I can book asap.

That's a good list Amir's jotted down for you. Unfortunately, almost all of those hotels are on the seedier side, freqented by hookers and hangers-on.
Give the 4 Points Sheraton a go. It's about 5 mins. from the bazaar, and is a cleaner, safer option - http://www.starwoodhotels.com/fourpoints/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1230
