Emirates Towers Hotels: Luxury in the Financial Districs
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Driving down Sheikh Zayed Road, you have high-rise galore, yet the Emirates Towers stand out (possibly because there are 2 of them). One is a buisiness tower (350m), housing hundreds of offices, the other one is home to the luxurious Emirates Towers Hotel (305m).

No building in Dubai would be complete without a dedicated shopping-zone, so expectedly, the Emirates Towers have the "The Boulevard", a small 2-level shopping area between the towers (about 40 stores and a handful of restaurants/coffee-shops).

    Some of what they offer:

    - 400 luxurious rooms and suites
    - Rooms furnished in contemporary style offering spacious luxury.
    - Fully equipped workstation including ultra-high speed Internet connections.
    - Mini Hi-fi system and interactive TV system with wireless keyboard.
    - Suites with panoramic views and spacious living areas.

    - Dedicated hotel floor exclusively for women.
    - Serviced only by female staff.
    - Lavish amenities and bathing products by Chopard.
    - Luxurious cosmetics and a cosmetics fridge.
    - Yoga mat and DVD with introduction to yoga.

    - Dedicated Club Executive Lounge on the 42nd floor.
    - Complimentary breakfast and all-day beverages and snacks.
    - Exclusive benefits such as a seamless check-in service and chauffeur transfer.

    - The Health Club with gymnasium, sauna, steam and massage rooms.
    - The Big Apple fitness club with fully equipped gymnasium and aerobics studio.
    - Shopping in the Boulevard at Emirates Towers.
    - Access to Wild Wadi Water Park at preferential rate.
    - Complimentary access to The Jumeirah Beach Club Resort and Spa.
    - Access to The Jumeirah Beach Hotel at a preferential rate.

    - 16 restaurants and lounges that offer a global tour of cuisines including:

    * Vu's - Modern European cuisine. Highest restaurant in Europe and Middle East
    * The Rib Room - Steak and seafood restaurant
    * Mosaico - Italian, open 24 hours a day. Poolside alfresco terrace
    * Cigar Lounge - Oysters and gourmet fare
    * The Agency - trendy, intimate bar serving over 50 wines by the glass
    * Scarlett's - American cuisine with a lively atmosphere
    * tokyo@thetowers - a choice of authentic Japanese dishes
    * ET Sushi - sushi bar
    * Harry Ghatto's - karaoke bar
    * The Noodle House - fast, fun, affordable Southeast Asian food
    * Al Nafoorah - exquisite Lebanese cuisine in the most opulent setting
    * Bonsai - a new restaurant opening late 2005

Jumeirah Madinat: Palmtrees, Gondolas, and Pampering
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Madinat Jumeirah belongs to the Jumeirah-group of hotels, which includes the Burj-Al-Arab, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and the Wild Wadi waterpark. Just like these, the focus at the Madinat is on luxury and customer comfort. If you are not staying at the hotel, you can still visit its public areas, such as the shopping area, which is decorated to look like a traditional souk and has been cleverly wound round a sort of a circular structure - it's quite easy to think you are lost in a labyrinth when ur right back at where you started off. If you look at the ceiling it almost takes u back in time to ancient Arabia with wooden windows, wind towers and souq architecture. There are scores of antique shops inside, as well as classy restaurants and not so pricy ones. You also have shops selling postcards (though u can buy the same 5 AED ones elsewhere [at the Dubai Airport for instance] for 2 AED) and clothes, small little jewellery stalls, turkish soap bars, dried fruit stalls and shops selling shisha pipes for westerners who want to start their own harems in their backyard.

No one in their sane mind wants to go back out into the heat, though when u do get out and see the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab rising proudly right next door - its worth every bit of heat. There are canals with gondolas going through the entire hotel complex, and even though the boat rides are only for guests living in any of the Jumeirah hotels, you might just be lucky enuff and security won't ask (they might assume that you are living at the hotel itself).

    Facilities offered:
    - 2 Grand Boutique Hotels and 29 Traditional Courtyard Summer Houses
    - 867 rooms and suites
    - Club Executive and Premium Leisure Club - - Lounge facilities for corporate and leisure guests
    - 40 hectares of landscaping and gardens
    - 1 km of private beach which connects with neighbouring Burj Al Arab, The Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi Water Park
    - 3.7 km of working waterways with fully operational abras (traditional water taxis) which transport guests from their rooms to the restaurants and beach
    - A bustling retail souk with 75 shops and 23 bars, cafes and restaurants
    - 45 restaurants, cafés and bars offering an eclectic array of international cuisine
    - Six Senses Spa providing the ultimate in Asian and European relaxation therapies
    - The Quay Healthclub
    - Madinat Arena (Multi Purpose Venue for up to 4550 people)
    - Madinat Theatre (432 seat)
    - Outdoor Amphitheatre (1000 seat)
    - Fort Island (Outdoor Function Venue)
    - Madinat Conference Hall (3600 sq. mts)

Royal Mirage Resort Hotel: The Royal Mirage
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Though we didn't stay there, this hotel is well worth a visit. Built with the theme of Oasis, it gives off an air of oriental mystery. Driving up, you will pass lush landscaping with fowers in full bloom. If you arrive at night, the beauty of the light-up hotel-complex is stunning. This hotel is truly beautiful and shouldn't be missed.

This is not the Burj Al Arab, BUT until we have enough money for the Burj, Al Faris is a quite nice place to stay. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. A 5-minute walk from the Creek, the hotel is located centrally in Bur Dubai, with stores and supermarkets close by (a much better location than the Burj!).

    - Excellent central location
    - 2 Studio Suites
    - 25 Studio Apts.
    - 3-star rating

Prices range from US $ 70.-- to 100.-- per night
Weekly rates range from US $ 500.-- to $ 600.-- depending on season.
As with everything in the Middle East --> NEGOTIATE!!!
Because of Ash's excellent haggling-skills we got a much better rate.
    :-)

Burj Al Arab Hotel: The Arabian Tower
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Burj Al Arab is known as the world's only 7-star hotel - anything that looks like gold, IS gold.

At the moment we have a Dubai-residence, so no need to stay at the hotel, BUT a visit was desired! The entrance for a visitor is about $ 30.--, but included in that price was a beautiful book, and the admission slip was also a coupon towards a drink or food in one of the restaurants. The hotel itself is pure luxury and something to be seen. The view from the top-restaurant is spectacular, especially since you get a unique look at palm-island, and the underwater seafood restaurant offers some of the most exquisite specialties in the world.

Make sure not to be "under-dressed" (i.e. ripped jeans, etc.) as a visitor. (Not sure if the same rule applies for guests.)

    Great website with facts:
    http://www.hillmanwonders.com/burj_al_arab/burj_al_arab.htm

Insider-tip: if you want to save the $ 30.-- entrance fee (no book, no drink coupon), you can just make a reservation at one of the restaurants in the hotel, and when you get there, cancel the reservation from one of the phones in the lobby.
    ;-)

  • In certain period Dubai and the nearest Emirates are completely fully booked cause there are special events or fair trade or festival...so is better to take info before...u are not obbliged to book before, but Dubai is full of hotel and it's impossible to think to walk in the city asking for a room, Dubai haven't name ore number in the street and find an address will be heavy!!!!
So before living the airport ask to the hotel desk in foront of the arrival door, they are good and if u book from them u will be a better price than the normal hotel pricelist!!!

Royal Falcon Hotel: Royal Falcon Hotel
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Royal Hotel Falcon is a 3 star hotel located in Deira Area. The room itself is ok clean enough but the bathroom stinks.

The design of the room is not good enough for you to have a peaceful sleep not unless you're really knocked off and tired. You can hear the sound of the elevator, the running kids going back and forth, the people staying on the other rooms...wow! it was really chaotic!

The aircondition unit is nto even working! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and the hotel staff esp the housekeeping staff are really rude.

The hotel is flocked by prostitutes during weekend and by men who wants to have some fun (know what i mean?) Well actually, they said prostitutes in Dubai are everywhere....hmmm! sounds like a common thing to them!

We arrived early in the morning, and the linmo driver was not really familiar with the place and so we tried to call them to ask for the direction. Unfortunately, we tried to reach them with the telephone number that they post in the internet but no one is answering the phone.

So, it took us almost an hour or so to find the hotel :-(

The hotel rate in Dubai is really pricey.Considering a 3 star hotel with bad service is USD110 per night but i would suggest an extra 50-70USd a night is reasonable enough for you to stay out of this hotel.
