The St George Hotel was included as a package for a stop over in Dubai and arranged through Emirates Airlines. Package included transport to/from airport, accomodation (3 stars, but other properties available) and breakfast. The guest rooms are huge and well-appointed, although perhaps a little old. Complete with wide screen TV, fridge, very large double bed (king size), couch and easy chair, walk in robe and older style bathroom. Foyer area is quite small and also contains a night club/bar/cafe, seperate quieter coffee area which includes guest computer (free). Nearby is the famous gold and spice souks. Close to major shopping centres and easy walking distance to the water taxis that cross the creek
No pool, but each room has a view of the Dubai Creek and the constant parade of water taxis and dhows

I stayed here for 4 nights with my children in Feb 2005. The stay was most memorable since the wedding anniversary of my son was during this stay. The hotel surprised us with a anniversary cake on the day.
Spacious rooms, clean and well maintained rooms with all standard amenities. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Corner Of Abu Baker AlDirections: Corner Of Abu Baker Al Dubai, United Arab Emirates

I stayed here as single for 9 nights in September 05. The stay was comfortable. Room had acceptable facilities of course very clean and spacious. Service and staff attitude was nice. Although it is said to be a 5 Star hotel but physical appearance is not as such. Location is Ok, you may get Taxis but not during rush hours. You can walk to eating places on Al Muraqqabat Street . Overall if they dont charge you high prices it is good to stay here.

We upgraded our room to a superior sea view for 175 AED per night. It is well worth the money. The room was very clean and spacious, we had bath robes, tea & coffee making facilities, mini bar & an enormous king size bed which was very comfortable & very hard to get out of each morning because you had such a nice sleep. The hotel has two restaurants, the Oregano which is a Mediterranean restaurant and set out like a country farm house which was very nice. Then there was the Singapura restaurant which was Far Eastern cuisine, we ate here twice because it was so good and the service was fantastic too. There is also the buffet restaurant called the Bazaar, this is where meals are served. It is laid out like an open cooking station with chefs cooking the meals fresh in front of you. The Bazaar was highly enjoyable every night with a different theme each evening. Breakfast was amazing, so much choice for everyone, they had Kellogg's cereals, fresh Fruits and juices, Full English breakfast even with Pork bacon & sausages, pancakes & an organic corner. We enjoyed the themed bar at night called Charlie Parrot's, its set out like a rain forest with palm trees, flowers and parrots every where. There are about 4-5 flat screen tv's so you can watch the live football which was on most afternoons. There is also a live band on each evening & then a dj. Or you can visit the piano bar on 1st floor for a relaxing evening and enjoy a drink or two. The pool area and gardens were beautiful, lots of sun beds with comfortable mattresses for you to relax. It was never hard to find somewhere to sun bathe unlike some holiday's we've been on. It was peaceful and relaxing. Waiters would come round to see if you would like a drink or any snacks so you could enjoy a drink whilst sunbathing or you could try the pool bar which is the largest pool bar in Dubai. We would sit in the pool bar for a couple of hours a day talking to the nice friendly staff.
Every evening when we were getting ready to go out our room attendant would come round with complimentary bottles of water and chocolates which was a really nice touch, he was very polite and charming. Our favourite bar man at the pool bar was Olee, he is from the Philippines and was very nice to talk to. He called us "His Couple" and we would have some good laughs together at the bar. We were very sad to leave the Oasis Beach hotel, it really was our most enjoyable holiday of all time and we cant wait to go back next year again. Yes Dubai is expensive, but it is money well spent and well worth every penny Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Jumeriah Beach, Dubai

I enjoy my stays here - except one, but that's another story). Good mix of restaurants: Italian, Mexican - humongous portions so either the starter or main course., Nightly buffet themes in the lobby restaurant (English, Asian, Arab, etc.). Biggles English Pub - try the Fish & Chips or their home-made pies, (don't try the chicken wings - sorry Biggles)
Close to the airport (10 minutes), close to the Irish Village.

I'm writing this tip while I am staying for the second time in this Thai hotel in Dubai. its quite clean and located in central area by Sheikh Zayed Road. The staff are nice, the room nicely decorated. I am staying in the floor No. 31 which gave me a very nice view.. They have internet service in the rooms, but its wired only and they will charge you AED 40 ($11) per hour or AED 100 ($28) for the day. They also have free wireless to use the net in the lobby only. The hotel rate this time of the year (July 2007) was AED 690 ($187). They have Airline Reconfirmation service which is very nice and quick, they came to my room to collect my ticket to change my return flight date, and they did that in very short time.
Cental by Sheikh Zayed Road, Nicely decorated clean rooms with a large window between the bathroom and the room, that so nice some time. And they have friendly staff. Arrived at the hotel at about 10am and was given a room straight away. Although we asked to be moved as the room was not as nice as one would expect in a 5* hotel, they said it was not possible. Although they did let us swap one of our breakfast days as we were so hungry when we arrived. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The shuttle bus to the malls is very good, you can then get a cab further into town. It's about 30 mins to mall of the emirates on the shuttle bus. I used the pool on one occasion but there was more of a fresh breeze down on the beach, the seawater was like getting into a warm bath and I loved the private beach.. Had lunch almost daily on one of the small bars on the beach, and once had dinner in the buffet style restaurant but thought it was very expensive for what you got. A lovely surprise was that it was my boyf. birthday and they baked us a birthday cake and delivered it to our room which we were extremely grateful for. We used the Spa and would recommend it. Highly recommend this hotel. Leave a Comment

We stayed at the San Marco hotel in Dubai for 3 nights during May 2007. We received a warm and friendly welcome, the staff is very polite and nice, eager to help out in any situation. The rooms were ok, clean and nice for a 2 star hotel. The location was great, near souks, mosques and the hotel also offer free shuttlebus service to beach and shopping. Good value for money and I would go back any time.

These are the first 2 hotels, that were recently opened in the Downtown Dubai. It is worth mentioning, that Dubai is unique in such a way, that the city just has its center being built! The Downtown area may be spotted easily by the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai, that is being built (already more than 125 floors) and that will be the heart of the downtown, as well as one of the world's top attractions. Both Al Manzil & Qamardeen hotels belong to the Southern Sun hotel group and are considered to be the 4-star hotels, although 1) what is a 4-star accomodation in Dubai - is a 5-star accomodation in the rest of the world 2) these hotels serve alcohol (only 5-star hotels were serving alcohol before, except for the Taj Palace hotel) Brand new, build in the old Arabic style, these hotels are quite and charming. It is extremely comfortable to reach any part of Dubai (saves the money on a taxi). Nice restaurants, great sports bar "Nezesaussi" at Al Manzil and a comfortable courtyard where you can smoke shisha and enjoy the hot Arab night. After the completion of the Downtown (2009), the place will become the top tourist destination. You can read more about what its gonna be on the developer's web-site: www.emaar.com and www.burjdubai.com
