Al Mas Residence: Self-catering apartments.

There are very many blocks of serviced apartments all over Dubai, which is a very good alternative to hotels. They range from true 5-star to much cheaper apartments, so the choice is yours.

Al Mas is a middle-of-the-road block, everything you need, clean, well-serviced but not luxurious, with bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom. I'd rate it at 3-star.

Depending on the length of stay you can negotiate from the published price.

Excellent location close to the centre of Bur Dubai near shops, shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants.

The One & Only Royal Mirage: One of the best five-stars

The hotels in Dubai are amongst the best in the world. In the city, stay at any overlooking the Creek...the Sheraton or Radisson are ideal. On the beach strip in New Dubai one of the best of the 5-star hotels is The One & Only Royal Mirage.

Low rise, modelled on traditional buildings in landscaped gardens.
Wonderful design and attention to detail. Absolutely top class true 5 star luxury.

Well there is holiday Inn downtown which has an excellent location in Deira area and a reasonable price. Just a note that there are several Holiday Inns hotel in Dubai and as you know Holiday Inn rates are not cheap so make sure to look for 'Holiday Inn Downtown' and not another...

180 dirhams for a double, or about US$50. We got this deal from Discovery Travel, a travel agency in the Dubai airport. I'm not sure if it's a special deal or not, and if you're not planning on arriving in Dubai via the airport, I'd suggest calling the hotel and asking for their best price. All prices in Dubai are open for negotiation!

It was priced reasonably and was very comfortable, with a great air conditioner (a very important thing in Dubai) and a very nice balcony with slightly tinted windows. They also had a little fridge in the room, and the water pressure and temperature was great. It was either 3 or 4 star lodging. Another great thing is that they have a sister hotel in Jumeira on the beach, and offer free shuttle to and from the beach hotel and the use of their facilities. So you can catch the shuttle in the morning (which you would pay a taxi 15-20 dirhams for), lounge on the beach all day, and return in the afternoon. You can also take a taxi from the Jumeira Beach hotel to the Jumeira mosque while you're on that side of town. (There's a photo of the Jumeira mosque at the very top of this page).
